Topic: Golf Equipment / Callaway 2004 Saw a sample of ERC fusion wood on the weekend ata demo day in griffith, looks very interesting, as does new big bertha fairway woods. I was talking with the rep and apparently the HX Black ball is really popular with the guys on tour already. Looks like Callaway is making a comeback,Taylormade and Titliest had better watch out. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Futura $595, WHAT THE !!!!!!!?????? Australia represents only 1% of all golf sales worldwide so I doubt that acushnet is too worried about not being able to bring in SC Futura's in Oz. There is no way that PGF is about to sell Futura name rights to Acushnet when Lady Futura is one of their biggest selling clubs. |

I tried the monza as I cannot find a big ben. I found it easy to
line up and to be of a good weight but I was really looking for
something centre shafted so I got a twoball. I never really liked
the twoball but this centreshaft is awesome. I used it for the
first time to day and I putted great with it, I am sorry to say
but my scotty is GONE! |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titleist price rise rumour!!! I know for a fact as I have seen the new pricelist that when Acushnet takeover next month that the wholesale price will come down on such things as wood, irons and wedges by substantial amounts but the balls will stay roughly the same. This does not mean that the retail price will come down but instead they are trying to make the brand more profitable for the on course guys so they will stock the gear. Also why these off course discount shops will say that is most of these off course shops will not get an account with acushnet as they want to stop these outlets bastardising the product and keep profit margins in the porduct so the clubs pro will support it. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Grafalloy blue users I was a meeting yesterday where the vice pres of true temper globe sales was talking to us about graphite blue and explained that it can not be tipped as the shaft has a micro-meshng in the tip that helps reduce the torque but still provide feel. So if you tip the shaft you will break the meshing. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Pro's Handicap When PGA members play in open events they play off scratch unless they are a member of that particular club. When I played at the Lakes last month I had a look at the handicap board and noticed that Peter O'malley and Peter Lonard where both members there, POM had a handicap of +2 but Lonard does not have a handicap. But the interesting thing was there is a young guy who is a member there by the name Ewan Porter who is struggling to get starts on the tour but plays in a few pro ams and he is off +4 so a guy who can't get a start on the Aus tour has to give a seasoned campaigner on the European tour two shots start. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Harrison Shafts Had a hit of a mates driver and 3wood that had Harrison shafts in both, one shaft was a Striper J and the other was a Pro 2.5 I think. I really liked the Striper J and am looking to put one in my driver. I am interested to here if anyone else is using a harrison, if so which one , what flex and what they like about the shaft. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / The Lakes Gadget pull your head in will you! You're off 1 and you have won a couple of vardons thats great but who cares :?: I set up this topic to find out what other iseekgolfers thought of the changes made by Thompson to the Lakes not about your career on the NSW vardon circuit. As I have stated just because your are a good player does not mean you are a good designer or even a good coach for that matter. In my opinion the Lakes was a great layout after the work Jack Newton had done to the course. And as for the quote about the design work that Thompson had done as I understand it Royal Sydney was not happy with the changes he had done and have already had someone else redo the work. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / The Lakes
I was fortunate enough to play at The Lakes on the Saturday and
Monday of the long weekend and could not believe the changes that
have taken place at this great course under the supervision of
Peter Thompson. Although Peter Thompson was a great player this
does not mean he is a good designer which is evident by his work
at the Lakes, in my opinion and that of the members I played with
all he has achieved is to make the course easier. From what I
understand Peter Thompson was brought in to fix the problems that
the course had with their bunkers, largely balls plugging. His
way to address this was to fill in the bunkers. I will list below
the changes that I saw which he has made. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Help me choose a Sydney course Some other courses that are in a similar area to the ones you have mentioned Heckler but are obviously not in the same league include St Micheals( always in good cond ), Bonnie Doon ( currently undergoing some redesign work ), Moore Park ( normally in good condition especially considering the amount of trafffic it has on it ) and The Coast ( looks a bit rugged but has some of the best views ) or you could travel over the bridge and try Killara ( not sure never played there ultra exclusive from what I have been told ) |

Topic: Golf Equipment / HELP - re Oil Can finish Vokeys any day. I found clevelands very weak in terms of distance. I have a 54° and a 60° vokey oil can and found after a couple bunker shots they oil finish is gone from the sole and the face. And yes it is true that if you don't oil then they will rust. |
