3rd card going for handicap, first two shot 106 & 102, then 91 which is still my best round, the day when I kept all tee shots on the fairway and the putter worked well (in 35-36deg, 80% humidity). I’ve only been playing for 10 months, got to get my handicap down from 28 struggled during the build up and wet season. Now the monsoonal rain has stopped and the course has dried out, I’m getting 25-30m more run on the fairways and finding it easier to make it to the green on long par 4 and 5’s.

Keep at it guys, like the shampoo commericals says “it won’t happen overnight…but it will happen”

i would say that they are a good brand and this particular circumstance is great pricing but they would normally be significantly more expensive

I was interested but too many of them are injured now especially the Saints players who I go for. It should be a great game though if the weather is dry and it is a free flowing game, I mean its the best players in the competition you can’t go to wrong.

thanks again matt haha. I wont get the set. Not very keen on graphite shafts anyway. I think i will buy the b5s and an 11 or 12 degree driver, depending on what the shop has or if a suitable one comes up in the classifieds here before the weekend i guess.

what do people think of this? i have been offered a set of 9/10 which includes BH bh5s with graphite shafts, ben hogan cs3 driver as well as 3 wood and 3 hybrid, all graphite for $450

ok thanks flip, i would like to try introduce fairway woods into my game some day but at the moment I am just going to focus on getting the aspects of my game that I can do well so that I can do them consistently first.

would a good secondhand driver to try and pick up be something like a TM r7 or a Cleveland Hibore?

ok thanks guys, especially matt. the main reason i chose the ben hogan irons is because i thought $289 was a pretty good price and i dont have a HUGE budget. The place where i was going to get the driver from only has up to 10.5 degree in the ben hogan driver and that is with the draw setting so does anyone know of a good driver with the higher loft for say under $150 (the BH was 139)

average drive would probably be 170-180m
i dont use fairway woods because i can hit a 3 iron quite well so i use that for long fairway shots. this is also the reason for getting 3-PW as i need a 3 iron :D .

how come more loft though? i wouldnt have that that small a difference would matter too much with distance

Hey i am looking at buying a whole new set of clubs this year, I am 16 and currently play with my dad’s PGFs which i dont get along with at all, especially the massive massive heads on the irons.

What i am wondering is do any of you know a good place in Melbourne to get properly measured up etc. I play at the Cowes course and they could probably do something at the Pro Shop there but they dont sell the clubs i like…

Also, my price range is up to $800 or possibly a little above if there is something special. I have been playing “properly” for about 6 months and im just getting too sick of the clubs im using so i wanted to get you guys opinions on things like what are the good clubs, graphite shafts for irons?, hybrids/irons and so on.
