Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test How about some sort of loyalty program? For each of the recyclable outer packets that they return, they get one free ball or a discount towards some vision golf gear? Send in 5 packs, get a free vision towel or hat. Send in 10 packs get a dozen free balls. The idea would need a little bit of thought to refine it, but it can do so much for the brand. All of a sudden, there is an outlet to get some Vision equipment, other than balls, on to the golf course. You would also be able to re use some of those packages! Food for thought? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Friday Comps In Perth Retail keeps me busy every weekend. This is what destroyed my game to start with! I take every Friday off and work every Saturday and Sunday. I don’t work too far from Wembley, so come Summer, I reckon a round or too in the afternoon might be a goer. I’m thinking now that The Nationals hold the balance of power that daylight saving in WA may be a thing of the past, so this Summer is going to involve a lot of after work golf! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Friday Comps In Perth @ Topdog Guru invited me to the last one at The Cut, but I was unable to make it due to work commitments. I’ll be trying my best to get the next. Rest assured! @ Jack I live south of the river, and normally try and get at least nine holes in every Friday arvo. I’m only 10 mins from Whaleback, so I normally head there with a couple of mates in the arvo for more of a hit and giggle (and a fun wager), but allows me to keep a bit of feel in my game. I also play comp every couple of weeks with a few guys that are members of The Vines and Meadow Springs. I’m keen to try and get some comp rounds in to challenge my handicap and ultimately get the b@stard back down. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Friday Comps In Perth Does anyone know of any comps that are conducted on a Friday in Perth? They also need to allow visitors. Cheers, |

127 to the centre. I bought a Geek driver and had Guru shaft it up for me. I’ll start a thread on it soon. Looking forward to the X3 Boz. Looks like it is going to be the perfect ‘medium’ for guys like myself and many others on the forum. Apart from one little issue, the xpert would have me now! Liking the sound of sooner rather than later. Hopefully this is ‘The One’ mate! MW |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test The Mrs is watching a movie on Foxtel, so I thought it a good opportunity to review the X5 that Boz sent out. (Funny thing about Foxtel is I got it to watch the golf…First month has the movies for free!!! 1 more month to wait!) Anyway, I took it out and it feels great. Distance is good, feel is good and spin is good. Only a couple of things to note. Firstly, it’s very difficult on UV balls to tell whether they ‘shear’. The yellow colour hides it! Secondly, and I’m sure this has been mentioned before, but you can start to see what seem to be imperfections under the cover of the ball. I think you’ve explained what they are, but this is now a massive thread! Overall, it’s a great ball and one to watch out for. I know many ‘blokes’ that simply won’t play yellow, and I know that you’re aware of this Boz. Is there any way of getting a tasty bright white cover in the same ball, and market the two balls side by side? On a side note, I picked up and played the Precept U-Tri Tour the other day and was totally impressed. I had read that a lot of people found them to be short, but I found the contrary. Driver/9 iron to a 480m Par 5 proved the short theory wrong. Perhaps it’s a faster swing speed that gets them going. They have a great feel, are easy to shape and their cover is near infallible! Do you have any inside info on this ball Boz? They are on clearance at a lot of places for $40 a doz. Anyway, that’s enough for this thread. I look forward to seeing the next breed hit the shelves shortly. Cheers, |

Topic: Golf Talk / Murrumbidgee Country Club I ended up at Gold Creek today as a last resort, and was so glad I did. The greens were done about 1.5 weeks ago and had recovered brilliantly. They have the Holden Scramble on Friday and it should be an absolute treat. There were only a few bare patches on the fairways, but seeing how dry the whole of Canberra is, they have done really well. I’d rate it 8/10 Thanks for all the help along the way guys. I had a great weekend. MW |

Topic: Golf Talk / Murrumbidgee Country Club Well, guess what! MCC cored and top dressed their greens on Monday! Anyway, it is in just average condition through the fairways, and a little disappointing compared to how it used to be when I played there reguarly 10 years ago. The trees are certainly taller and a lot of the short cuts are now a bit tougher! Anyway, 39 points and a fun day. Hopefully Yowani hasn’t started working on their greens yet. Has Belconnen or Capital started their green work yet? MW |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test The old man is going to get a taste of the UVs this weekend! I’m sure he’ll snap the first one onto the range off the first! He’s just an average 64 year old CROSS HANDED golfer, so I’ll post his thoughts after our game this weekend. MW |

Topic: Golf Talk / Indicator to the State Of Play- Golf on TV I believe it’s a little like this. It’s law that the Majors have to be played on FTA. As for the rest of the season, Foxtel has the rights to the broadcast. All the WGC games were also broadcast on TEN HD. Personally i reckon any golf on FTA is a good thing. I wouldn’t be looking to GA to fix this. They have enough problems and this is far above their reach! MW |

Topic: Golf Talk / Murrumbidgee Country Club I am a member of Colonial on the Gold Coast (Through gogolfing.com.au). This is for the exact same reason as you. An AGU handicap for $200 a year, and when I play in comps I pay green fees. Lucky enough to know enough people around who can get me on to just about any course in Perth. I notice the “sports club must own everything” mentality is still booming in ACT. It can’t be too long before Murrumbidgee is bought by Vikings or Southern Cross you’d think. There’s been talk about it since before I left Canberra 10 years ago! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Murrumbidgee Country Club I hope I don’t offend, but I am far from a fan of Belconnen. It never excited me. I know a lot will say the same for MCC, but there’s a lot of my childhood left there, so it’ll be a good chance to relive it! Booked for 7:35am. Should be nice and fresh! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Murrumbidgee Country Club hmmmm. Monthly Medals seem to be an issue getting on. Murrumbidgee may be my only option! What’s the worst thing that could happen? It’s a little dry, and I have a great day with my Dad? I can probably handle that! MW |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test Hey Boz, Used the Hi Soft and found it pretty good. I didn’t really notice the “softness” that I thought I might and the distance seemed to be acceptable. The cover held up remarkably well and barely has a mark on it. Whilst I was able to get it to spin on full shot irons, I seemed to struggle to get it to check like I can with other balls when close in. Maybe it was my play, or maybe it was the ball. I reckon you’ll tell me it was how I was hitting it, and my review is the total opposite to how the ball should perform. :) Putting also felt very solid. Anyway, I’m not sure what these puppies are worth for a dozen, but I feel that the Hi Soft is a good ball and probably a good choice for ANY intermediate golfer. I’m guessin their in the same sort of line as the Srixon Soft Feel. Cheers, |
