Topic: The Lounge / Beef soup any good recipes? Nothing wrong with canned food. Used all over the world in all the top restaurants and hotels. If you are asking for a good recipe for something as simple as beef soup you might find it a little beyond your culinary reach. As with everything the key is with a base- solid foundations- just like golf. You need to make a good stock- rich and full of flavour. This takes time hours or even overnight. Use Oxtail. Never put starchy Veg in your stock (no spud- it will ruin its color and make it cloudy- you can add spud to the soup but not the stock). You can use the meat of the ox tail in your soup to finish it off. A good soup is a lot of effort- even though i cook for a living, don’t be afraid to reach for the tin of soup- it’ll give you more time for golf. |

Topic: The Lounge / Think I should get one? While there is nothing wrong with a 50 cal, you might find it a bit heavy to cart around. Can’t really go past a Desert Eagle .50. Plently of stopping power and you can carry it in your handbag or back pack if you are out and about. You might not be able to stop a snowboarder from 1800 m, but you will be able to turn a snowboarder into Pink Mist if he gets within 50. |

Topic: The Lounge / Should Nick D'Arcy go to the games? Simon Cowley slaps this guy in the face and then has a cry when he cops a flogging. Be a man Simon and take your beating. D’Arcy should have bottled him. Simon started it, bad luck take it like a man |

Topic: Golf Talk / Toilets on course Why are some many courses lacking these basic facilities. If i cough up $60-80 buck in green fees, why should i have to take a piss in the trees come the 6 or 15th hole. Surley with all the infrastructure in building these courses it would not be too hard to put a couple sets of loo’s out there. Not always practicle to go back to the club house. Even as a guy, when the world is my urinal, i should not have to go out in the scrub. Worse off is the next poor soul who has to play his shot out of someone elses water hazard. Too bad for the ladies, they have less options |

Is there some sort of organised co-op where old golf glubs can be donated and then ‘given’ to those less fortunate than us. Every time you walk into a golf shop, there is some throw out bin out the front full of old clubs, that no one is ever going to buy. I am sure many people on this forum, myself included have an old set in the shed, gathering dust. Why can’t someone recycle these clubs, even cut them down for kids. By 2008 no Australian child should be living without golf clubs. |

Topic: The Lounge / The Price for a Beer! Got to give the sepo’s some credit, when it comes to service they are the bomb. Buy heaps of crap online, and when dealing with US business i always get get service, quick responses, and follow up correspondance. While it is just good business pratices, we don’t get much of it here. |

Topic: The Lounge / The Price for a Beer! If you’re in the States, stuff the booze, i hear the Charlie is nice and cheap. Sure it is fairly easy to get in Hawaii, would have been a nice addition to your honeymoon. Got to love those chemical guru’s of South America. If only we weren’t so far away!!! |

Topic: The Lounge / How much is too much I’d love to give you a point for the pick up- but i think you’ll find discrete is still acceptable. Online Etymology Dictionary – Cite This Source – Share This 1340, from O.Fr. discret, from L. discretus “separated, distinct,” in M.L. “discerning, careful,” from pp. of discernere “distinguish” (see discern). Spellings discrete and nativized discreet co-existed until after c.1600, when discreet became the common word for “careful, prudent,” and discrete was maintained in philosophy, medicine, music and other disciplines that remembered L. and tried to stick close to it. Online Etymology Dictionary, © 2001 Douglas Harper We will call this even. I’ll use a spell checker in future. Good call though. |
