Is slow play generally policed? I know at my home course the rangers very rarely travel around keeping an eye on whats happening.

I would say everyone is guilty of missjudging distances when tee-ing off, the shot in question wasnt meant to hit or clear but roll upto, etc.

Care does go along way, im normally very restrained in such scenarios but felt the need to give them a hurry along and im sure everyone has hit up on/near to push along…dont deny it haha

In all honesty the shot wasnt expected to go that far, but alas, it did.

Problem is they (son and father) dont listen, they are quite simply too thick to understand there are more people than just themselves on the course.

When advising them of basic things like only playing 1 ball (with a group of 4 able players bearing down on top of us, their reply “you cant rush golf”

I would simply hit a tee shot on top of them, yes its not nice but they will either hurry along or let you through.

Ive been in a similar circumstance (unfrotunately been in a group that holds people up as well but have finally got through to the others in the group to let them through) where a group were stuffing around, destroying the course etc etc and would ignore the fact there was 4 of them who couldnt play and myself and my dad who were going at a brisk pace, so i waited until a long par 5, let dad tee off (doesnt hit too far) then i walked up and let rip and cleared them…funnily enough they opted to not finish this par 5 and jump straight to the next tee

Im sure you’ve all been in a scenario where you invite someone to come play with you (friend, work colleague, etc) and they invite someone with no golf ettiquete or ability and you know it will anger you after 1 hole. How do you go about…lets say “advise their position on the 1st tee will not be available”

Kangaroo’s are the biggest target/obsticle on my home course and especially at the local driving range. Make quite a thud when they take a ball to the body

I hit a duck yesterday…there was a group of them in the trees with me and i wanted to punch the ball out and they were in the way…shook my club at them, threw sticks near them, smashed the ground near by…wouldnt move so i had no choice but to hope i missed them but hit one flush on the body…stopped the shot nicely in the middle of the fairway which potentially would have gone miles.

Duck was okay coz it hassled me on the next tee by walking in front of me.

Topic: Golf Talk / Losing grip mid round

I had a concentration issue when I started out playing cricket, highest score were 70’s and 80’s off not many coz i simply didnt have the mental stamina to keep my mind on the game. So i think its a practice thing

Topic: Golf Talk / Losing grip mid round

Im thinking it might be a concentration issue, I mean the front 9 im fine and playing well but then the 11th which is a short par 4 (265m) I milked a little too much out of my first drive which hooked, then there was a bloke who walked straight onto our fairway so i grabbed another pill and took aim to scare him and cleared him and landed on the fringe, but the problem was from there on in i think i might have been trying to clone that long bomb on the rest of the holes.

The next hole was a long par 4 which I incorrectly aligned and drove straight left and over the trees

Next; long par 5 which I again hooked because I have on the odd occasion made the 2nd mound which means a long iron to the green

Next was a par 3 so irrelevant

Next was a medium length par 4 which is very straight and i backed off a little and went straight.

Next was another medium length 4 which again went straight.

Next was a long par 4 which again i went for the big heave ho and hooked it.

Then if you factor in the driving range which i was hitting them well in the beginning then started to ramp up trying to go that little too far which caused the hooking.

So i think in summary my concentration lapse allows me to try to go too big and roll my wrists (as im a cricketer so more of a flick i guess)

Sorry you had to read all that, just stamping it into my mind but your comments on the above would be appreciated

Topic: Golf Talk / Losing grip mid round

I went to the driving range last night with the idea of going back to basic’s and my first 20 odd shots were perfect, straight and long, but then after a while i had the problem with my grip again. I decided to try something completely different in a total cricket/baseball bat grip, which worked well for a few shots then the idea of belting it crept in plus it tended to open the club face on impact.

Topic: Golf Talk / Losing grip mid round

I played yesterday and was gripping the club fine for the front 9 but as I got onto the back 9 I couldnt, for the life of me, get my grip feeling right. I realised I was gripping my lower hand on the underside of the grip which made be flick the ball – ala cricket – which obviously wrecked my round.

I cannot figure out why I had this problem, it wasnt stamina related as I was still swinging fine and powerful, etc. But yeah, for some reason, how I would normal grip the club felt completely wrong and I always ended up gripping it all wrong.

Has anyone come across a similar fault? or have any ideas?

Cheers in advance

Not overly serious – just annoying. Far better than the initial thought of cracked disk. It has stemmed from years of rugby union and cricket and minimal warming up or warming down.

Yes! Ive got a recurring infection in one of my lower disks and damn it ruins my game when it flares up. Standing over the putter hurts and if i swing even the slighest bit out of alignment i almost hit the deck in pain. I played 9 on sunday evening and simply swung through without any real power and was fine but when i turn up the power it starts to really effect the game. Its been over 6 months since ive got through 18. Yes i should rest and recover completely but hey…i guess im stubborn

Mickelson – why…dont know just simply dont like him and agreed with the people above, i slept brilliantly after watching him hit those flop shots that were total FLOPS!

And which ever arrogant south african it was that said Tiger was faking his knee injury. Stereotypes have never been more spot on

2) Tiger in a come from behind win showing his known grit and determination
3) Jason Day; a lot of hype for the young bloke

JR

Sounds like you need to get out on the course and start putting all your practice into play.

Srixon i-701 Tour irons are HERE!!!!!

Agreed, I spent months at the range not allowing my confidence to grow and play a course but finally did and as they say in cricket, theres no practice like middle wicket practice

At wodonga for the last 3 weeks had a group of P platers letting off air horns as blokes are about to swing ala jackass. Didnt find it funny when i dropped an old nut and busted a 3 iron at mum and dads subaru. Police paid them a nice little vist after about 50 blokes complained and gave the rego number. As far as stealing flags and crapping in holes thats almost a fortnightly thing. Little pricks should get a life

2 things matter in golf, where the ball is and where it has to go
everything else is irrelevant

Same thing happened at our cricket grand final last year. Punks at a skatepark blew it while I was batting just as I was about to commit to a shot. Was funny to watch about 15 people chasing him though.

°°°°°°The yellow book hath arrived!°°°°°°

http://www.golflink.com.au/...

I know that feeling all to well – my old home ground was on a main road and without fail 3 out of 6 balls an over would have horns, yelling, etc coming across the field. Great for your mental training – Sledges never really bothered me because I grew to tune out from everything.

I guess all the aforementioned problems go hand in hand with sunday golf, as do dark alley bashings with friday and saturday nights. It sh!ts me because I am not yet confident enough to play saturday comps and work 7-6 mon to fri so sunday is my only available time, i guess the way around is to play at sparrows fart sunday morning

A young bloke at Maryborough (Qld) while being chased, drove into the park opposite the course and straight into the lagoon, scrambled out of the 5’ foot deep water, ignored his girlfriends screams for help and bolted, the girlfriend drowned and he I believe is still walking the streets.
cheers peter

That makes me sick – the @#$% should go down for manslaughter as well if they were to catch him.

Topic: Golf Talk / Has golf ever hurt you?

Funny you should ask – as i type this i am laying in bed with a spinal disk irritation (soft inside has made it to the hard outer and has made it swell) so ive been off work all week and had to post phone a golfing weekend at the gold coast.

4-6 weeks before im safe to start swinging a club again

just as my game was starting to come together

Only thing I dislike about Nambour is the sheer size and elevation – It would take a lot out of you to walk the whole thing.

Other than that it, it is one of the cheaper memeberships on the coast and with the size you’ll get your money worth.

Personally I will be holding off until the new Horton Park (2 courses) but if that is some time away and obviously current course members will have priority, I will join Headland as dad is a member there and it is a great course
