Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Feeling from Mechanics My question is, how does the average golfer put feel into their game. Learning mechanics is great but what is feel? Golf is all about putting the ball in the hole in the least amount of shots? My answer to “feel” is being in the moment and knowing what you can do and knowing what you cannot do depending on what is presented to you. No matter how good or bad or average one may be with golf, just think…...... |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titanium Putter? Just find an old Ping Anser putter or something in a bargain bin. You do not need a titanium putter to make you a better putter. Too many people read the hype about golf products and are put into a false sense that a certain product will improve their game. It is called marketing. If you think a certain putter is better for you, go for it but at the end of the day, a $25 dollar putter against a $200 putter still does the same job on the greens. |

Topic: Golf Talk / A New World Order For Golf? So worland, what you are saying is that they dig up Augusta and transport it to Asia somewhere, also do it for the British Open courses. A fair bet that 3 majors will not be played in the USA? I agree that Asia is booming in many areas and yes golf as well. Not many people living in Asian countries can afford to play golf let alone buy a bag of rice to feed the family. Golf in Asia is for the rich at this time residing in those countries or for golfing tourists who can afford it. Golf in the USA/Europe/Australia is accessable to most people and relatively affordable. If in 10-20 years time I cannot watch the Masters at Augusta…well that will be a defining moment in the history of golf. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Attacked - Take Cover ! 1. A couple of years ago (in Florida) my caddy was searching for my waywood drive and an Alligator took a snap at him. 2. I also remember playing at Bribie Island golf course (Qld) many moons ago and went to move a stick and it was actually a snake. 3. Komodo Dragons in some parts of Asia are also a good idea to stay away from. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / trouble with plugged bunker shots Danz… I never mentioned using a PW. Use a PW from wet or firm sand if you must. What benefit to you get from using a LW in this scenario? (ball being plugged) The LW generally speaking has a larger face than a PW and when playing a plugged bunker shot, you want more downward force on the impact area. A larger face will generate more force. To hood/close the clubface or not? Due to the extra “power” you need to play theses shots, the clubface will become square or open up through impact. It is like hitting a shot from the rough and your clubface gets turned. As for the 2/3/4 ball drill I previously mentioned. Have you tried it? |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Group or Individual Group or Individual Lessons? It all depends what you seek out of the game? Some pro’s just do individual, some do both, some hate teaching but it is extra cash at times, some love teaching and are great no matter who they teach. Then again, some cannot teach even though they do. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Low Fade There are some good tips here but I will add 1 more. I am guessing many of you are trying to practice this type of shot on the driving range which is great but there ain’t no trees on a range in-front of you. Get out on your course when it is not busy or no person is behind you and find a tree on the edge of the fairway and then practice the shot. Try it from the rough, bare lies, the fairway etc. Each shot requires a slightly different technique. If you cannot do this, slave away on the range and try punch cutting a 5 iron around the 100m marker on the range. Visualise the shot before execution. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Tee Trouble Boof, If you can only get out once each 6 weeks, you cannot really expect to have a consistent game. Any golfer who pops their driver in the air is swinging their driver incorrectly. The driver ain’t an iron. Are you taking divots with your driver? As a quick fix although not the best, try teeing your driver up lower at address. I would also check your ball position with your driver at address. Perhaps you ball is too far back in your stance with the driver in hand? Finally, too many people try to smack the crap out of their driver, slow down and things may change for you. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / trouble with plugged bunker shots Danz, here is a little drill, trick, practice routine, call it what you like to help you play those plugged shots. Get 2 balls, place them behind each other aimed at the hole, cover sand over the 2 balls and try to hit a bunker shot and get the 2 balls out of the bunker onto the green with the one swing. Once you can do this, try it with 3 balls and once you can do this, move onto 4 balls. There is no “trick” to it, well sort of, skill yes, and lots of practice but it helps very much with practicing plugged shots. |
