Topic: Looking for a new high class Putter

I’ve been using the White Hot XG#7 for the last year, it’s a fantastic putter. I didn’t want anything too heavy but I didn’t want to be playing a flat blade type putter either. This was a great middle ground.

You can go to odysseygolf.com and have a look AriG but I have only had the #7 for 2 weeks and I know I love the feel of the insert .Had a few tricky downhillers in the four games I have played with it and have been able to judge it pretty well.

I just bought a Nickent Pipe putter which I find the best putter even for short putts. I need to get use to it as need to give it a bit more of a rap, so great for fast greens. Only used for first time yesterday afternoon. It cost approx $125 from States.

Having a heavier putter may mask a suspect technique to a degree but trying to belt a light putter on a long putt usually shows it up a lot more especially after coring, scarifying ,rain, topdressing etc.But I do like the new Odyssey White Hot XG#7 that I just got, insert feels brilliant compared to the old Rossi 2

L.P.R.

What style of putter is that? Is it good for hard fast greens?

Short Down hill bending putts are killing me at the moment.

Another vote for Scotty Cameron.

I have a Red X2 that i ebayed from US and am very happy with it.

A good putter is no cure for a suspect putting stroke though!!!

I swear by odyssey putters…using the white hot XG1 and is sweet

I tried all of the mallets and ball putters….went back to simple blade. I feel the huge putters mask poor technique to a certain degree

puuters are so personal though, everyone says it and its true.

Heavier putters can be helpful for guys with big shoulders and arms. I feel more normal with my Odyssey Dual force rozzie 2, than say a blade style.
They do as you say have bigger sweet spot. Is hard to judge the pace of fast down hill putts though.

Flush it, chunk it, flush it, chip it, hole it 5 a half!
Flush it, flush it, three putt the half!

AriGold, slightly off-topic but hey, which post doesn’t go off topic?...I saw an article in a Golf Digest that showed hitting a putt off the toe of the putter for fast downhill putts…I have tried it and it works very well but I only have 1 hole on my home course that is fast enough.

Not that im aware of. They had issues with speedos not calibrating i think. They have FPV typhoons in Sydney now, but mainly just SS’s and XR6 turbos.

Dave – I thought being a Wilson man you may have tried the Kirk Currie putter?

I have the models1and 6, both are different style putters but the balance fit weights work on the same principle. If your looking for a heavy putter or one you can adjust for slow or fast greens look no further. I think it may be a long time before I change from the Kirk Currie:)

There available from the same place you brought your irons. Don’t tell the missus I told you ;-)

I have Custom Made Ping Redwood – Zing.

Got it last Feb – I have more confidence in this putter than any I have ever owned in 20 years.

Pace control feels so easy with this putter (For me anyway)

Another vote for TM Rossa Monza Corza. The ASGI inserts on the Rossa range is great and you can pick up the TM Rossa putters for a fraction of the price of a Scotty. The YES putters get great feedback too. Basically the YES putters and TM ASGI are designed to get the ball rolling better, and from my experience it really works. Heaps of models in TM Rossa range to suit… blade, mallet, half mallet etc..
