Topic: Golf Equipment / irons for different handicapps Just wondering if there are players using irons not suited for their handicap. in particular high-mid markers playing irons suited to low markers. Or even low markers playing game improvement irons. |

Topic: The Lounge / any civil drafters/engineers in this forum? just wanted to know if there are any civil drafters or people in the industry that visit these forums. seeking some career advice. i’m finishing my cert 3 in cad soon and wondering how do i get a job when most of them advertised on seek/career one all require at least 2 yrs experience. Are there any other sites i should be looking at besides those two? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Topic: Golf Talk / i hate the driving range. the range is a good practice environment to hone your skills & to take out some stress. Think of it this way, you learn to swing a club at the range and then learn to play golf at a course. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / divot tools well judging by your responses i’ve concluded that i’m not spending enough time on the greens to notice the divots or i’m playing on rock hard greens. i already fill holes/rake the sand but i’ll take my new divot tool out next round and put it to good use. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Advice for a newbie? g’day schmian. . i started playing mostly the short game, it is good and bad. Good that i know how to chip and pitch better than most newbies but bad for my longer game when i moved on to full courses. It all depends on if you are getting lessons or not. if you are than stick to the short game it’ll build confidence that can lead you onto a greater long game. |

Topic: Golf Talk / bad manners! the idea of laughing at them did get mentioned around the group but that would just bring us down to their level. Let them through, forget it happened and enjoy the rest of the day. its sad to see a great game ruined by a bunch of dicks. |

Topic: Golf Talk / bad manners! Thought i would have a spit about a incident that happened yesterday while playing. I was playing with a friend who doesn’t really know how to play golf but just enjoys hitting the ball and being out with friends. Off the tee she hit the ball and it rolled along the ground. A group of guys behind us found it funny and had a chuckle. Now I’m all for a laugh when someone hits a bad shot as long as the hitter thinks it is funny too, but to laugh at a stranger hitting a bad shot is just plain rude. So we let them through after the next hole. I haven’t played a lot in a large crowd but are my feelings justified or does this happen a lot? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Brisbane - McLeod Golf Club I’ve played at Mcleods a few times and i like the course. its close to where i live and not extremely busy like most other courses around this area. Staff and members are friendly. Only problem is they are constantly doing grounds keeping there. Just make sure you ask what the groundsman are doing on that day before paying, but every time i have played there it has been a good day. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Fantom Ball Test - 2008 Oz took the balls out for a test today, i had my friend test out the PowerControl while i tested out the DistPro. Just some background knowledge my friend normally plays with callaway reds and plays off 20. Pc: i gave him the ball not telling him what it was just told him to give it a try and give me some feedback. first hole. par4 264m and he nailed the drive dead straight and couldnt believe he got it on the green. he loves the ball, he said it felt softer than what he expected. putting: he liked the solid feel and it seemed it was easier to feel the contact. his final comment after that hole was “where can i get some of these balls”. however he found after a few drives he couldnt draw the ball as easy as he could with the callaway. after playing a few holes he lost both balls after driving them alot further than he expected. he nailed one towords a tree 275m away and it just shattered. But he did manage to score 15 over with only 2 holes to play. he will be converting as soon as these balls hit the market. Dp: i played the distance pro. not sure if it is my swing improving or because i was trying to feel what the ball was doing off the face of the club but it just felt good to hit these balls. driver: wasnt too happy with my driver today but i found i didnt have much control over this ball as the nxt. it just spun too much but that might not be a balls fault, as i was slicing the ball everywhere. it felt really soft off the driver and i found myself wondering if i had hit the ball or not. i also found i either had to club up when deciding on which club to play as i lost at least 10m. iron play was unbelievable. i found i could stop this ball on dime if i wanted to and i love knowing i can picture a shot and it will do exactly wat i wanted it to. i used 1 ball for 18holes and its scuffed and ready for the practice bag. visability was a problem too. having a line for putting would be nice. Tees: i love the tees you gave me i found i was staring at the smiley face making sure i saw it after the ball left. will take out the softeys for a try next week. than compare them against the others. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / how often do you get lessons? i had my first lesson last week and now starting to undo a year of bad habits. The pro said my swing isn’t too bad, just my hands were the main part of my swing. now i am working on getting the shoulders/body turning. also getting rid of my stiff straight left arm too. I cant explain it but everything about my swing feels wrong but also feels right at the same time. This is why i love this game! |
