Bio might be able to explain more about what is happening at Eastern, although I have heard that they will be relocating and building a new 27 hole course next door to the Heritage.

Cibuma, drop me a line when you get to Melb, happy to take you for a game at Heritage. Heritage is 35 mins from CBD so anywhere east of the city should suit you. My email mntgolf@gmail.com.

Thanks Bio

Woodlands has just popped up again on the radar with me receiving a reply today on my membership enquiry (3 months it took though).
Offering the possibility of a 6 day membership. They will even try work around the situation of not having proposers.
So I will check both of them out (Heritage & Woodlands) and make a decision from it all first hand.

Hey Jonno38

Be great if you could keep us posted on your decisions.
I will be going through the same process in January.

Hope to become a member somewhere immediately though to take advantage of my free time whilst I consider finding employment.
Heritage I feel is the top of my list given my situation.

Woodlands was tops, but with membership intake only twice a year and the whole process taking 3 months according to their website, I feel I must rule it out,

Slightly off topic and a bit of a hijack, but can anyone recommend a nice set of suburbs to live in which would allow easy access to say Heritage and not too far from Central Melbourne (20 -30 mins drive from CBD).
Am flying into this city to live pretty much blindly having just spent 1 day in it. Given I have no job, I might as well base my living decision on where I will play golf.

Woodlands look pretty damn good thanks for that, do you know what the membership is like from experience? Is it an old membership? they can be very snooty.

A great spread of age groups at Woodlands, heaps of new younger people joining. A waiting list is once again in place. No real water problems because of a very good bore. The new clubhouse will make the club more enticing to be apart of in the future.

tks for the offer Marnic. I’m about 4 hrs nth of sydney so its a little far for a day trip, but i’ll keep you in mind when i get down there next. I have played the St.John course and really enjoyed it apart from the 400km/h northerly which i believe is normal for melbourne.

The other course wasn’t open when i stayed there unfortunately so i still need to tick that one off my list

From most reports Woodlands is a reasonably friendly Club.

I am led to believe though that only 6 day membership is availabel at the moment and that a building levy will be introduced shortly to cover the construction of the new Clubhouse facility.

Monthly cost of $260

Thats good value if you play 2 or 3 times a week. Do they charge you daily fees on top??

You can get into Heritage now without buying the transferrable membership, you can now lease a membership which is effectively just paying subs. There are 2 courses to play

It depends on how much you can spend, where you will live and how much you are willing to travel. I think you should be able to get into the following

Woodlands (might be a wait for 7 day), Spring Valley, Kingswood, Southern Croydon, Waverley, Eastern and Box Hill.

Some clubs like Heritage, Sandhurst and Yarra Yarra have share/transferrable memberships so thats an option too, all be it a pretty expensive one.

If really can play and would make the pennant team then you might have a show of vaulting the waiting list at some of the clubs that think they are better.

Interesting choices everyone, mine would be:

Golfers: Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, Adam Scott

Other sports: Ricky Ponting, Nathan Buckley, Lleyton Hewit

Celebrity: Ed Kawalcek (lead singer of Live), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Robert Plant (Led Zep)

As for the girls: Carlie Butler, Megan Gale, My wife (we can dream can’t we?)

I have put way too much thought in to this, happy golfing.

Why would anyone want to do anything with Lleyton Hewit?

In playing with Jesus, the Dalai and Mohammed, what would the golf course location be? It would have to be neutral? One may need a Pope Mobile buggy on the course.

18th at Portsea has many options and a good round can be spoilt by taking the wrong options. Not difficult but a great finishing hole.
