Topic: Golf Talk / Weekday Open Comps in Sydney

Hi,

Could anyone suggest any good open comps in Sydney during weekdays?

I’m already looking at Bonnie Doon and St Michaels (does anyone have any info on the St Mick’s open days?), as well as Camden Valley.

Not going to travel north of the bridge, so any south would help.

Thanks

yea, mainly all good courses

im sure the rest of us could play all of those in 15 days anytime,

have you been up north?? because you havent played paradise palms but you must have played sea temple

can you still count kennedy bay? isnt it closed

I’m just working off the current Top100 list ( not that i agree with it but you have to use something as a basis) and Sea Temple isn’t on the list.

I’ve not been north of Townsville. I have played Townsville and the Willows.

I think Kennedy bay has a few mates – isn’t st. andrews beach part of that failed group as well – but as I say i’m just running off the list.

I thought 12 different course of any description in 15 days was pretty fair going. Particularly when the intervening days included driving from Northern NSW to Melbourne and back!! It was a pretty full 2 weeks. Needed a holiday when i got home!!!

Thank goodness I have a wonderful understanding wife.

Such is Life

it helps lol

with the help of the list – Yes. mIght be easier to name the 32 I haven’t played on the current list. From the bottom:-
Cottesloe, Ranfurlie,Albany, Southern, Riversdale, meadow springs, heritage henley, Araluen, Western australian, Macquarie Links, paradise Palms,Secret Harbour, Mt lawley, Pacific harbour, Royal qld, Capricorn, elanora, Vines, 13th beach, st. andrews beach, huntingdale, magenta shores, joondalup, Turtle point, kennedy bay, Lake karrinyp., the cut,Royal sydney. the australian, Barnbougle, ellerston, Royal melbourne composite

I’ve played the west course at Royal melbourne so maybe that is 31 and a half ???

As you can see most of them are in WA. I’ve never been there to date. Once i complete that golfing adventure then I’ll be up in the 80’s. a couple of them have hit the wall financially lately so who knows what will come of them.

Its all good fun. whether you play them once or a number of times.

I had one trip where i played Mt Broughton, Peninsula south, Metropolitan, The dunes, Commonwealth, Woodlands, Sanctuary Lakes, Kingston Heath, Kingston Links, Moonah links, Victoria and royal melbourne in a 15 day period. Now that was a holiday!!!!

haha electricity, I would have forgiven you for looking that one over. Do you usually go overseas for your golf holidays?

Currently at Stage 1 – Basic Motion

No I’ve only played on course outside Australia. The Plantation course at Kapalua bay in Hawaii.

I have however played 68 of the current “top 100” list in Australia and many that don’t get a mention. I would estimate 170-200 courses in australia.

Such is Life

so, you can name all 68???

I reckon Bankstown GC is reasonable value – around $1800 – and consistently better condition than new brighton. No sure if you have to pay joining fee?

Good things happen to good people

bankstown is miles better than new brighton

Topic: Golf Talk / Getting a handicap other than joining a Club, options?

not true, just off the top of my head muirfield (sydney) doesn’t accept golf access

golf access is still known as an ‘affiliate’ handicap, don’t really see why it cant be normal

Topic: Golf Talk / Junior Memberships

I’m looking for a new club to join. I’m a junior and wondering are there any that anyone suggests in Sydney, or within an hour of Sydney.

I’ve looked at The Coast, Woolooware, Eastlake, Wollongong and Macarthur Grange (playing comp there this weekend to see what its like). I’m still open to any other club suggestions and wondering if anyone has any preferences of their own, or out of the ones I have above.

But a background, 22 handicapper, have played for 2 years, are currently a member at Riverlands and Kareela, but Kareela will go this year because I’m not happy with it and thats why I’m looking for another club.

Thanks
