Topic: Golf Equipment / Which driver loft?

160mph club head speed? – sure that isn’t ball speed…still bloody good

A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

lol I think someone’s bragging with all that detail, I think something like… I would highly recommend the Launch Monitor, it helped me immensly….would have sufficed.

Topic: ISG Feedback / Course Scorecards

I would like to see each courses scorecard added to the course reviews. I think it would add much needed detail/information to a course review and those that have made comments i.e. knowing how many par 3’s/4’s/5’s, hole length and overall course length/rating.

I play many different courses in NSW and would contribute a lot if the option was there.

Topic: Golf Talk / How long can you drive

On the weekend i hit my pitching wedge on the Par 3 11th (164m, from the back tee) Right over the green, a good 5 – 10m, so:

Pitching Wedge: 175 – 180m

if you scale that up to the driver, i should be hitting, something like 340 – 350m??? yeah?

The 38m drop to the green you mention in your next post I would say is some key information, scale the 38m drop up along with the driver and you might hit 340-350m on a 100m downhill drop :)

I hope all you massive hitters aren’t measuring the actual arc of the ball flight path lol

Topic: Golf Equipment / 'Draw' drivers

Yes I sometimes adjust my grip to counter the fade, which works fairly well. But I do tee the ball up pretty low to the group in comparison with the various guys I play with, so if what you say is true guru I might start teeing the ball a little higher and see what comes of it.

Topic: Golf Equipment / 'Draw' drivers

Ah thanks guys, all good advice and pretty much what I thought. I’ll stick to ironing out the tail fade with a standard square face driver now then rather than have to do it later on.

I think what you said guru is correct and it’s simply something slight with my path to the ball, what’s OTT mean though?

Topic: Golf Equipment / 'Draw' drivers

I was just curious as to how many people actually use a ‘draw’ bias driver?

I’m looking around for a driver at the moment, but I’m unsure if I should get a draw or just standard. My drives are pretty much straight but tend to fade over the last 50m. But if I want to I can easily hook/draw a drive with the standard driver.

The harder I swing, the bigger the fade, so possibly a draw driver would enable me to wollop the begeezus out of it and it will still stay straight hehe

Topic: Golf Talk / Earlier Bird Catches the Ball

I generally play shortly after mid-day.

My perfect morning goes like this:

Rise at 7.30
8 – Gym for one hour (cardio)
9.30 – Back home showered etc and eating brekfast
10.00 – leave for driving range and drop daughter off with my parents
10.30-11.30 – Driving Range, hit a bucket of 60 or so and spend 20 minutes on the chipping green
11.45 – arrive at course, pay competition fee, get tees & balls sorted. Head for the putting green, chat with friends and playing partners.
12.00 Head for first tee feeling confident I can produce a good score.

So I basically like to be hitting balls about and hour and a half before I tee off. My wife is very understanding lol!

You forgot 7:35 – scratch arse
9:55 – fart etc.

lol

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Help us to help you - Golf Course Reviews

I’d like to see an additional option to enter the scorecard for the course. (That’s a BLANK scorecard I mean).

It would help with use of programs for handicapping that print their own cards or keep track of scores.
I can contribute with many scorecards around NSW.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Why So Many Fake Equip on eBay Aus???

Well I’ve only had one round with them so far and so good hehe Got to get used to them, I was playing with ancient clubs with steel shafts previously, so now I’ve got graphite shafts and larger club face.

Not sure what the England story is about, but Global Golf are based in the US and other than the serial number being on the right club and looking like it’s done without fault and the quality of the grips I don’t know how else I can prove/disprove they are the real thing.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Why So Many Fake Equip on eBay Aus???

I just recently bought a set of Taylor Made irons from this place GlobalGolf
They are a second hand online store but that includes unsold stock. They were advertised in mint condition i.e. never used and when I received them a week later they were exactly that, mint condition.

The main point is, they were cheaper than any ebay seller for the same item including freight.

My 2c.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Anyone play with TM R7 irons?

Rather than start a new thread, thought I’d ask here as it’s kinda relevant.

What I’ve been reading in some threads is ppl stating that although the TM CGB Max irons are very easy to hit and help your game that if you have a low handicap then you wouldn’t want to use them.

For a newbie, I’m wondering, if a club is easy and forgiving and gets lots of distance, why wouldn’t a low handicapper still use them? Do they prefer more of a challenge? :)

Ah I see, positive handicap interesting. I would have thought that once your scratch you just don’t bother worrying about it hehe

Thanks for the info.

Good luck with your traineeship I hope you make it!

I’m new to all this so apoligies for the basic question…

You want to get your handicap to scratch or better? Is there such a thing as negative handicaps?

You also mentioned a traineeship and that you might be old for it? What is a traineeship? and how old is too old? I’m just curious :)

Topic: Golf Equipment / Spotting Fakes!

Thanks for that guys.
I bought a set of (used) Taylor Made CGB irons (graphite shaft) from Global golf. Mint condition which says they were not actually used/hit, but possibly unsold stock or display items.

It was a better deal than even the possible fakes I linked previously. Approx $610. In case anyone is interested I’ll post back when I’ve received them and tell you the condition of the clubs.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Spotting Fakes!

True, I contacted the guy who gave negative feedback and he was unhappy because the clubs took so long to arrive. But he did actually tell me he was very happy with the quality of the clubs and he had registered them with Callaway.

hmmmmmmmmmmm I wish I was rich hehe

I’ll take a look at Rockbottomgolf and Golfsmith. I want a full set, I’ve already been measured up at Drummond golf and the Taylor Made’s just felt right and are perfect off the shelf, they tested the angle of the club head and it was spot on middle, so I should be able to buy online without a problem.

Can anyone advise me on these clubs?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/e...

The guy has told me they are a distributor for Taylor Made and the clubs are imported from the US etc. etc.

But I can’t find an ABN for ‘futureworld’ and I’m a bit suss. I’ve asked some other buyers who had already received their clubs and they said they were very happy with them. But who know’s if they can tell if they are fake.

One guy registered his Callaway’s (bought from same person) online and said it wasn’t rejected or anything, but as other’s have said, maybe the serial number has been copied off legit clubs.

Topic: Golf Equipment / What handicap will you finish 2007 on

I’m wondering, why don’t you guys with 3 to scratch handicaps enter state comps or go to qualifying school for the aussie pga?

I looked at the scores from the latest q-school and par rounds (I think or maybe 1 under) would have put you in the top 35.

I’m new to this, but these amazing handicaps has me scratching my head. Maybe these courses are easier or some of you are actually entering these comps? I’m just curious.
