Windyhill….totally agree.

Sasha is a nice guy who is using behavioral science to build confidence. It is interesting that his system builds in the “anxiety” factor….100 in a row or begin again type thing.

Not sure I am convinced that reaching that primordial level (beyond boredom) is the solution to anxiety. However, the system can most certainly groove a habit.

Aren’t all putts straight?

Yes, if your technique and touch is good. Opps…that’s the idea of honing these skills with the ’”laws of accuracy”..lol Spike I did a bit of research and Sasha recomends finding an easy green to start with, don’t make it too hard first up, and change angles when you increase distance.

Playing as much as you can away from your home course will benefit your game down the track.

Hi Toolish I have been following this thread with much interest and wish you well in the journey to scratch.

I have a question for you; as your game is improving are you noticing that your scores at other courses you play are improving as much as they are at your home course? I always find that when my handicap drops a couple of shots I need to “test” it away from my home track to be sure that the improvement is validated to some degree by knowing that the improvement is not just a home ground thing.

Interested in your thoughts.

1. Laws of Accuracy. For those that don’t know what this is you start at 10cm from the hole and hole 100 putts. Next session you hole 5 from 10cm then 100 from 20cm. Then 5 from 10cm, 5 from 20cm and 100 from 30cm. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks and 2 nights ago holes 100 putts from 80cm. I think this fits with your theories bio?

Toolish-

When using the Laws of Accuracy, do you sink a total of 100 putts from the distance you are working on, or 100 in a row? In other words, if you miss, do you start over trying to hit 100 in a row without moving on to the next 10 cm segment until you have actually hit 100 in a row at the prior distance?

I’m a little curious as to what type of putts do you use for the law of accuracy? Are they flat, uphill, downhill or left or right breakers?

I’m not confident with fast downhill putts and my best results are obtained htting off the toe. I’m far more confindent with a right to left break than a left to right break, however, I could hit short uphill putts in all day if I needed too.

Should you practise your strengh for confidence or weakness for reality?

100 in a row. At the moment have made 100 in a row from 1m, only got to about 60 from 1.1m before missing and I ran out of daylight to try again.

Good Toolish, hand in there over time will pay divitends,
Try this routine, place ball down walk behind pick visualise line, then stand beside the ball, look at the hole practice stroking, don’t think stroke, work on visualising and feeling the putt, and feel for distance, adress the ball and look at hole, still feeling and visualising the putt, look down at putter square up face to your line,
look at the whole once more, visualise and feel the shot, look back at the ball then stroke straight away, just feeling the putt and target in mind.
The reason for this routine is you have still have the feeling of the putt and target still in mind.
I know this sounds stupid, but even know your routine is simular the time you do your routine and walk up and adress the ball, you have lost your feel for the shot, when you adress the ball the last thought is adress and line. rather feeling and target. Only takes a few seconds to loose this.
watch tigers and adam scott’s routine very simular to the one I mentioned, This is a secret to their routine and why they are great putters

You may have seen this before! Tiger briefly goes through and explains hit putting routine. Worth a look.

Toolish,
keep up great work, if you lack time to practice, 100metre shots, 75,50,25 shots. master these distances. when you play start working towards positioning the ball to these distances particularly on par fives and short par 4’s. On short par 4 use an iron off the tee to get yourself in position.

If you pivot too fast with hands in sync before you arrive at the ball the face will be closed too. Might just be you are sneaking towards down and forward rather than down and out more than usual.

Confused…how does a fast pivot cause the lefts? Would have thought the opposite if anything an the pivot stopping lets the hands roll over more easily before the ball?

Still not getting out to practice enough, but can only do what I can do….

Had a 76 on Sunday, was 3 over through 5 then parred 12 of the remaining 13 holes. Putting was a lot better, only had 28 putts for hte round, which sure took some pressure off the ball striking.

Still gotta work more on the putting and the wedges though, make sure hte putting was not a once off and get the wedges dialled in for distance more so I can get more birdie chances.

Main issue was a few pulled wedge shots, both full and partial. I noticed I do it in practice too…not sure why though. Only seems to be shorter clubs but they go too far left for my liking, SW on average would head 15ish feet left at a guess which really isn’t good enough. NEVER miss em right though.

When I get time I will get out and work up the swing range getting them to go straighter…think it is a matter of swinging more right with a more forward hand position.

Because…….you are wasting your time going to a Q school unless you are less than scratch and constantly break par.

I agree, if your off 3 then you ain’t goin under very often….

But even then it depends how you go in tournaments, you can go under twice a week at your home course and still shoot 80 when you go play a torney.

I’m wondering, why don’t you guys with 3 to scratch handicaps enter state comps or go to qualifying school for the aussie pga?

Because…....you are wasting your time going to a Q school unless you are less than scratch and constantly break par.

Sure makes it a lot easier to put a confident swing on it…I still need to work harder at it with partial swings and stuff, but even knowing the true full distances helps a lot!
