Topic: Need drill to stop casting
HP, As you know that is 1/3 of it. If the clubface is not accounted for, the ball will just go further right. If the lag pressure is over done, usually 4 times too great, the shaft control that Laurie is talking about is impossible. The swing pressure, direction and clubface control are and inseperable team. Get one wrong and the others compensate giving less than desired results. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting drag – you may want to have a look at the Release threads in Brian Manzella’s forum. May change you mind about what your actual problem is. Geoff D’s thoughts are right on with these ideas. This stuff reminded me of Jack Nicklaus saying that he releases right from the get go on his downswing once he gets set on his left side. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting The second desire once you have made some sort of contact with the ball, is to hit it straightway. The natural mistake is to achieve that by keeping the clubface square to the target. That causes a slice. We uncock the club sooner and sooner in an attempt to square it up. All the time neglecting the natural roll of a swing. C-sting is the r-sult of no -oll. The more you r-ll the later you rel-ase to hit it str-ight. Try it 1000 time a week for three mo-ths and see for yours-lf. Don’t believe me or anyone else, but do your own thinking and home work. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting I agree Lepper, even if you dont hit balls w/ it doing a “pump drill” a bunch of times is effective as well….. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting Swingyde excellent casting comes from a narrow inside backswing, get the club wider & to stop this keep butt of grip pointing at ball on start of downswing in Swing Rehearsals, if you cast early it will point straight down between ball and feet, Rehearse this a few thousand times then a few thousand more, otherwise will never hit anything but a slice.Good news is that it`s common and fixable. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting Slicefixer’s (Geoff Jones) “Swingyde drill” www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqDXvzamY6c and 9-3 wedge shots Don’t worry if the device is touching the right forearm on the backswing some people early set, some late set, (it will eventually touch) the key is to make sure it’s touching the forearm on the downswing and making contact as long as possible into impact. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting Have a go at trying to NOT ‘not cast’. Sometimes the more you try the worse things can get… Alot of people cast because their hands (and butthead) go towards the ball. The hands should NEVER go to the ball PERIOD. Of all the lines of direction made available by the ability of the arms and hands at the top to move wherever they wish, that from the butt end of the rubber grip straight down to the ball is the favorite of millions. It is as destructive as a dozen other equally erroneous lines of directions, all of which carry the hands and clubhead to the front of the player too early. Assuming that the backswing has been completed to the best of the player’s ability, the direction in which the hands must be guided is exactly that in which the end of the rubber grip is pointing when at the top of the backswing. There must be no conscious effort, only guidance in the direction indicated by the end of the grip. It should certainly not be pointing at the ball and for the first couple of inches will not necessarily be pointing in the downward direction. On no account must the butt end be thrown from the top down along a direct line to the ball or anything approaching it. In other words, hands go away from the target at the top. It is an out and away from the target hand path that will help many. The proper start down from the top position is in the direction in which the grip end of the shaft is pointing. First move is a lengthwise move of the hands/handle, and not a move of the clubhead. Lag is something we “see” and try to incorporate. What is seen and what is felt are two different things. Lusting after the appearance of “lag” has wasted many a golfers time. TRYING to lag the club is NOT the way to create lag |

You could try tracing the base line with your right forefinger. Your subconscious remembers how to swing the golf club. |

Topic: Need drill to stop casting The way I fixed my OTT move was to feel like I was dropping the right shoulder straight down as the first move starting the downswing. This also helped in clearing the right hip. |
