I played a corporate day at a very toffy private club a few years ago. Whilst we were playing one hole, a very angry member came steaming up to us in his golf cart and make all kinds of accusations about us having stolen a club from his bag (Mizuno sand wedge) and that we had better return it before he made a formal complaint to the pro. He was rude, abusive and generally out of friggin control and we had no idea what he was on about. He demanded to see in all our bags (we showed him) and ranted that he would sue anyone who had stolen his club if it wasnt returned. He carried on about social and corporate days runing his membership and this stolen club was the last straw. Eventually he left us alone and drove off towards the clubhouse.

Two holes later one guy in our group hit his ball in a greenside bunker and found the “missing/stolen” sand wedge belonging to the old guy. He picked it up, looked around and then threw it into the nearby water hazard which is where it probably still is to this day. “Fcuk him” he yelled as it whistled through the air into the water, “rude prick will never see this one again”. Funny stuff…

I handed in a putter on i coure “i will not mention’ only to see the same putter i handed in for sale (3 days later) at the pro shop in the second hand section…….....

Only then did the penny drop that I had put it on the roof of my car when I was fumbling for my keys. And left it there.

Retraced my route, no good. But someone who lives near the course found it and left me a message. Bought him a nice bottle of wine, I was so relieved to get it back so quickly.

a few years ago a guy i know put his ping anser putter in for a regrip went back to collect it and the pro told him that it had been stolen and said how bad he felt and gave the guy $50 . a few days later the same guy was on the practice green and noticed a similar putter and went to inspect , he had his drivers licence number engraved in the neck and fair enough it had his driving licence number on it he abused the guy called him a thief and this poor bugger told him the pro sold it to him 2 days ago for $150 as it had a new grip on it needless to say that pro no longer works at that course .

Must say that pro must have been pretty Dumb to do such an act esp to members, basically he was just asking for it ! and serve him right for that too !

i use a carry bag, and take it with me everywhere on the course, be sure to put the clubs back in, otherwise i reckon my clubs would be all over the state.

I regularly drop my bundle on the golf course…....strangely no one ever gives it back.

I’ve handed in so much stuff lately… either I’m getting more observant or people are becoming better at being useless.

Everything from clubs to wood covers to hats and even a SecureDigital card from a camera.

I don’t hand in the balls I find, though :)

Not golf but my BIL and I were fishing from a jetty once and he realised he left his sunnies behind as we were packing the car. We went back and 3 guys had taken our spot and when asked they said “what sunnies not here mate”.... filthy scum.

Yea I found an Odyssey White hot #3, proshop was closed for the day and clubhouse was locked, so I left a sign on the proshop door and handed it in the next day. Ended up it was a kid that I know well from the club. Guess it was righty too so it made it easier to give back :-D. Also found a pair of expensive sunnies that I handed in.
