Topic: Golf Equipment / Why So Many Fake Equip on eBay Aus???

If I can buy a set of clubs from an authorised US stockist at more than 20% less than Australian prices (including shipping) then I can’t see why Australian retailers can’t use their buying power to source their stock for even less.
They don’t even need to maintain large supplies of stock. Why don’t they stock just enough to custom fit consumers, then place monthly bulk orders with the manufacturers to ship the gear over & pass on the savings to the consumers?
Most clubs are made in China so clubs are being shipped from China to the US to Australia…surely the retailers could be getting these shipped from China direct?
Toddsy’s example refers to Mizuno clubs. I guess these are manufactured in Japan, so they may also be clocking up airmiles before finally landing here.

Most people buying clubs on ebay are making savings buying them from the USA so picking up the goods is out of the question.
Check ebay’s review page for Ping Raptures & 9 of the 27 comments (33%!!) are from ripped off customers who bought fakes.
I guess you should do as much as possible to check out the seller first:
Where possible request serial numbers of clubs & check them with manufacturer.
Check sellers feedback & ensure they have +ve feedback for golf equipment & not something unrelated.
