You should be able to demo the Bridgestone irons at either Whaleback or IIRC Collier Park ;)

Can’t believe nobody has said Bridgestone J33 or J36 irons!

The J33s can be picked up pretty cheap now! :)

They are a very nice looking club :)

Topic: Golf Equipment / Taylor blue head and was also available with blue bubble shaft.

I’ve got one of the 3 wood heads, it needs a new paint job but is in good nick other than that, no dents or large scratches in it.

I was toying with the idea of finding a new shaft for it, the bubble one had been taken out before I bought it.

It came off of the Japanese PGA Tour, I bought it from a pro who played on the tour there a few times.

They are/were a pretty rare model, not too many of them around.

V10 was the model name if I am not mistaken.

Topic: Golf Talk / Club Membership in WA

Trafic is pretty good in Perth, I wouldn’t join a club based soley on location.

To me I like a club to be exactly that, a club whose members are all there to enjoy their golf and to socialise around the golf that they play.

I have been to some lovely courses that felt like they had a public bar attatched, nobody was really interested in socialising complained about beer going up 10c per glass and wern’t interested in socialising with the other members.

I wouldn’t be a member of a course like that.

I guess I was spoilt by Royal Perth, the friendly members and social attitude to golf made it a pleasure to be a member of, it has excellent restuarant/bar facilities that are actually open when you would like them to be.

Unlike some other clubs were you have to put up with left over sandwiches or a luke warm day old pie because the chef went home at 2pm… and I’m talking about a so called premier club in Australia!

So, I guess my goal is similar to yours, fortunately I know what type of club I am after I just have to find one like it in Qld ;)

Topic: Golf Equipment / 'real' leather staff bags?

Good luck with that mate, there are about zero of bugger all percent of golf bags made with real leather these days.

Most of the better major brands have a vinyl material that is pretty hard wearing these days.

I would suggest that if you want a leather golf bag that you will be hard pressed to find a decent one and may need one to be custom made, I saw a decent one about 15 years ago in a pro shop in Hawaii but it was about $3500USD back then…

http://www.pierotucci.com/m...

I found that one which is 1650 Euro but the actuall bag itself looks pretty average.

For the money that you would spend on a genuine leather bag you may as well update your Vinyl staff bag every year or two.

But just for the reccord, I think Ping and Taylor Made make some of the best quality staff bags at the moment which are a reasonable price and easy to obtain.

Topic: Golf Talk / Club Membership in WA

Chucksta it all depends on what you want.

I have played at a lot of different clubs and have been a member of two, Gosnells which I left some 6 months ago and Royal Perth which I am still a member of.

Do you want a great challenging golf course?

Do you want to be able to swill booze with a lot of down to earth blokes in the bar and maybe play darts or pool/snooker with them?

Do you want nice restuarant facilities and social functions that use them?

Do you want a great feeling of club comradere and feeling like you are a member of a club not just a player at the same course as those that played on that course on the same day?

Is cost an issue?

Does it need to be located in a certain area, close to work/home etc?

There are a lot of things to considder, I m going through the same process now that I have just moved to Brisbane, and to be honest it isn’t an easy task. Clubs that I might have thought suitable haven’t been based on my understanding of their reputation.

If you give the members of this forum a better understanding of what you might be after in terms of what I have outlined and anything else that you might have thought of post it up, it makes it a hell of a lot easier to work out what you might be suited to.

Topic: Golf Equipment / ProV1x vs B330

I actually prefer the Bridgestone to the Titleist balls.

I think they are very slighty longer and a great deal cheaper so I see no need to pay more for the Titleist balls.

I love the B330, the B330s is a little too spinny for me though, it is about 15 yards shorter than the B330 model.

Topic: Golf Talk / Golf Clubs in Qld

Cheers for the tip brendan69 I’ll try to get a game there and see what I think of the course.

Some may think it a little shallow, but I am looking for a club that is a complete package, friendly members, good dining/restaurant/bar facilities and obviously a good course and practice facilities.

I don’t particularly want to join a “club” that feels like a public bar with a nice golf course attached, what I mean by this is that I know of some clubs where it seems to be the culture of the club to be somewhat antisocial whereas RPGC has a very friendly atmosphere people would invite you to their table on the veranda to have a drink with them if you are alone etc etc whereas other clubs culture might be to sit in the corner of the bar swilling piss and not socializing with the other members that might be there.

Seems a little odd some might think to consider this when joining a club, but not to me.

Topic: Golf Equipment / What handicap will you finish 2007 on

8.3 depending on how the course was rated today.

Goal for end of 08 is 4.0 which should be easy as I will have a job that will allow me to play twice as much golf as what I did this year!

Looking forward to it!

Topic: Golf Equipment / If money was no object......

I would have the best of everything.

Don White custom hand ground blades by the man himself, Callaway X Tour Wedges with MD grooves ground by Roger Cleveland, a custom Callaway FTi LCG Driver, Adams 3 wood and Hybrid and Matrix Ozik shafts made specifically to suit me.

I think that sums it up pretty nicely :)

Topic: Golf Equipment / Driver Shafts info

That is like asking the question “Which is a better car, Ford or Holden?” the answer is they are both shit.

At the end of the day go and see a fitter who will make sure that you get the shaft and head combo that suits your game best!

The best coaches I have come accross in WA (that are still in the game) are Ritchie Smith, Brad Logan and Andrew LaBrooy.

I have been to quite a few, but these guys are the standouts IMO
