Topic: Golf Talk / Macquarie Links advert in Sunday's paper - No joining fee? Interesting view Vossy, but I am sure that with a near new championship course they are going to be looking for short term $$ and if it is not in the joining fee then the tradeoff may be increased yearly subs. I have read elsewhere on this site that the joining fee is about $30K, that is the same as The Australian, which is in a far better location, travel wise. New Brighton GC is a lovely little 18 hole course, right near Macquarie LInks, it has no joining fee and is about $1500 per year, would be difficult for locals to afford/justify the $30K joining fee if another course 5 minutes away charges nothing up front and is still a nice 18 hole track. Any Mac Links members wishing to express their views? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Macquarie Links advert in Sunday's paper - No joining fee? In today’s Sun-Herald in Sydney, Macquarie Links has advertised that it is offering ‘no joining fee’ I am not sure how the existing members of the club may take this news. I am intrigued as to what the catch is, does anyone know? |

Topic: Golf Architecture / New Norman Track in Sydney Does anyone have any idea about the new Norman track in Sydney? My understanding is that it is a residential development in Blacktown, thus probably pretty exclusive. Any intelligence would be welcomed. ATGTT |

Topic: Golf Talk / IS HE WORTH IT ???? guys and girls, I think that the idea of paying Woods $3mil appearance fee would be madness. Greg Norman is far better at promoting the game of golf to both new and old than Tiger has been. If I am wrong, I look forward to the argument against me. I agree with all that Tiger is a brilliant player and conducts himself well, however he plays in probably less than half the annual tornaments that The Shark did and he certainly doesn’t appear to work hard in promoting the game, probably the opposite, I think that he avoids the media as much as possible and only does the minimum promotion as required by the PGA Tour. So lets continue to work on the Australian talent attending our events and encouraging Norman to do as much as possible in promotions. Golf Australia has been doing well in the last 2 years and I think that the Open back at RSGC is a great move, may the big events roll on… ATGTT |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Are these good clubs? sorry champ never used, heard of either. Are you a mallet or blade user? If you like mallets, I use a Wilson Staff Kirk Currie, works well for me, I like the weights. Lind putters are good too |

Topic: Golf Talk / Annual Membership Subs Quality courses in Sydney certainly are dear, however that is the market. I still think that the best value membership is New Brighton as it is a genuinely good course. But dying to hear more from members at Bonnie Doon as I have heard good reports, however it does appear pricey with the $8K joining fee… |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Good Hybrid I have a Ping G5 22 degree, with Aldila stiff shaft, goes beautifully. Tempted to get a Lind 18 degree hybrid with the same shaft, as their driver is going very well. About $180 with top shaft and grip, Ping hybrids are about $240. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Bonnie Doon Hi guys, I have yet to play the course, but amazed that it has a joining fee of $8K…would like to hear from members, do you believe that this amount can be justified in the condition of course/amenities for members? What are the annual subs? ATGTT |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Lind Golf guys, Played again yesterday with the Lind Apache 2 driver, hitting everything down the middle, and the 60 degree lob, both were performing as well as the Ping G5s in the rest of the bag. From my experience, 2 full rounds, I have no reason to believe that the performance of the Lind goods is inferior to the PINGs. For those considering the products, I recommend buying a wedge or wood and seeing how it works for you… Cheers ATGTT |
