Topic: Bags - stand or cart? best value?

Don’t really like selling on ebay as most of the stuff I have lying around is real players type of equipment, and on eBay you tend to have to start the bidding low. I know exactly how much I want for these, and “Buy it Now” doesn’t necessarily get a look in on ebay as buyers hold off trying to win an auction for a lower price.

Another reason is that I am just too damn lazy to list them. But if I dont sell these by the end of the month you may find them listed in February.

The real hassle is the sand…

Any ideas for getting the bucket around the course with a stand bag?

With my Ogio, what I have done is get a length of 4” diam plastic drain pipe, approx 250mm long, two end caps to suit and there is my sand bucket! This I stash where the drink bottle is meant to go and put my drinks in one of the pockets instead! Easy.

Actually, carrying the sand this way seems to balance out the bag better when carrying …......... !

I converted 2 weeks ago from pushing my clubs to a carry bag. And I must say its the best move I have ever made!

Feel so much better fitness wise.

I have a taylor made monaco bag that cost me $180.

I carry a Ping CrazeLite and use a wide mouth Powerade/Gatorade type bottle for my sand. Wide mouth doesn’t take ages to scoop and fill and although my drink bottle now has to sit in another pocket it’s easier than having something hanging from the bag.

If i am only playing 9 holes and it isn’t too hot I fill an old water bottle up with sand and put it in the drink holder

for the sand bucket I just went to bunnings and bought a hook thingy (dont ask me what its normall used for) and looped it through an eyelet on the bag and it hangs off that…too easy

I now like my stand bag…jump out of the car and tee off in seconds…I can play 9 holes in an hour and ten minutes on my own with my stand bag

Put an umbrella on your bag and hang the sand bucket off that. Seems to be the way that most guys do it.

I am all for stand/carry bags as:

1. It does improve posture
2. Is convenient for the car (no buggies)
3. Allows you to access the rough and other obstacles that buggies can’t get through
4. Step over fences with all your clubs instead of picking 2 clubs that might not be the right ones

Ok, points 3 and 4 do hint that I don’t find many fairways, in which you guessed it, I don’t.

Had a Callaway X460 bag plus buggy, then bought an Ogio Flight, the Callaway has not seen the light of day since – much prefer to carry, and that is with a couple of drinks and a ‘custom’ sand-bucket.

We must be from the same club. I must be one of those young bucks that carry a hoofer, because there a number of us that do that at our club.

I can’t understand why people still carry bags. Get a cart bag and save some energy for your shots. On our course we have a few young bucks that think it is cool to carry their hoofer bags. They are also the ones that forget their sand buckets or drop their buckets somewhere on the course. Hence the club divots remain unrepaired. Get a buggy mate.

I am also in the maket for a new bag and so I went to the Ogio.com site and the Flight model is not there. Do you know if it has been superceded ? Also, are the dividers full length in Ogio bags ?
thanks

Yeah I should probably change my avatar. Put it up there as a dare from my sister, but realise that its not that outrageous considering some of the others on this site.

Back on the topic though, I have found Ping and Ogio to be the pick, with the Ping Hoofer design a little more convenient that some of the Ogio offerings. In Ogio I think:

Ozone – Great light and enough storage. Good range of colours
Grom – More room than Ozone, but far too heavy
Edge – Good bag and better than Grom, but would still lean towards Ozone due to its light weight
Flight – Now this bag is the pick of the lot. Just a tad heavier than Ozone, but with all the features of Grom and Edge.

The new Callaway bags are made by Ogio with their Woode top. Ogio still are one of the leaders in the manufacturing of golf bags. Although I have recently changed from the Ogio to Ping Hoofer.

I know that this should be in the classifieds section, but I have 2 new over run custom Ping Hoofers. RRP $349, I am selling them for $230 each if anyone is interested.

Thanks for doing that ATGTT.
I vote for Callaway or Ogio stand bags – they are fantastic. A new Ogio Grom off eBay for about $125 you can’t go wrong.

it’s one less thing to clean and put in the car.

HA!!!! Gotta love the hay bale look in the back of the car, always smells like the golf course whilst driving.

Would rather push than having an aching back & shoulders, but maybe I’m just lazy?

1 vote for carrying. It’s quicker, you get fit, it’s one less thing to clean and put in the car.

Ping, Titleist, Ogio…they’re all good.

I second that. Ive been pushing mine for the last few months and sore backs have become a thing of the past.

Maxfli make some really good bags at good prices and it was reported a few days ago that TM wont continue to market the brand. If thats the case you may pick up a bargain.

Don’t carry your bag…..my 2 cents, get a cart bag & push the buggy.

Carrying is way too hard….but that’s from a lazy bugger.

ATGTT – I will only let you in on the Worlds Greatest Secret On Golf Bags if you change your avatar.

Seriously man – having a convicted gang rapist on your avatar is not cool.

Please change it.
