Topic: Golf Talk / moral dilema re nonconforming driver
If you read the original post again, I’m not worried about the driver itself but the ethics of the whole situation.
my point exactly |

Topic: Golf Talk / moral dilema re nonconforming driver personally it doesn’t bother me as I know this club is not helping his game just thought I’d ask the question to see what most people would do. on a different note, over the last few years I’ve hit a quite few non conforming drivers and for the majority of golfers I dont think they could pick the differance or have any advantage at all with these clubs |

Topic: Golf Talk / moral dilema re nonconforming driver I have a moral dilemma. I know a golfer that still has a nonconforming driver (hasn’t played this year yet). Now this driver is about 10 years old and is probably more of a hinderance than a help but rules are rules. Last year this player was aware that they should not be using the driver this year and even though they havn’t played this year yet I know when they do tee it up it will be with the non conforming driver. Now being a friend I’ll have a word with them about it before the next round but if they continue to use it should I tell someone of authority? Even though this driver is harder to hit and doesn’t go as far as a current model conforming model |

Topic: Golf Talk / How long can you drive I wasn’t saying that I can hit it 250 and no-one else can. I was getting at the fact that the people who claim to average between 270 and 300 need to have a look. I know there are golfers that can hit it that far but average that far is completely different. That may be the average distance of the 1 in 10 or however many that you crunch but the average of all your drives i.e. every tee shot you hit including the 150m slice or the 180m duck hook not just the ones in play. To average those distances you need to be hitting the fairway nearly all the time and hitting it consistantly. I’ve played with quite a few pro’s and leading amatures and the distances those guys are hitting is less than what a lot of mid to high handicappers seem to be claiming. I know handicap has no relation to distance but to average a long distance you need consistancy and thats what most mid to high hcp players lack |

Topic: Golf Talk / How long can you drive
Most people have no idea how far they actually hit the ball. i.e. “I drove a 300m par 4” it was prob downhill downwind at the end of summer when the fairways are like concrete. Tees were forward, hole is measured in a dogleg and they only just got the front of the green. In reality the shot prob only travelled 240m and was the biggest drive they had ever hit but because the scorecard says the hole is 300m “I hit my driver 300m” reality check NO YOU DONT I’m on of the biggest hitters at my club and are consistanly longer than everyone else I play with. I’ve hit drives 400m (yes they were downhill, downwind in extreeme conditions) and I’ve even been known to hit sand irons into 500m par 5’s Yet given all those facts, I know they are impressive drives but they are not normal drives. I’d rate my average drive at about the 250m mark. Anyone that believes that their average drive is longer than that it either playing on tour or kidding themselves |

Topic: Golf Talk / Drummond Golf The Best
Not many and from what I hear they are going downhill. Their biggest problem is in their recruiting. Most of the staff I see in their shops are too lazy to talk to customers unless you approach them with a question. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Another golf shop closes
We are not always 7 months behind the US. In some examples we are actually ahead of the US. Callaway have been know to release clubs to the Australian market early so that they can get valuable sales over our summer before the US release in our winter (their summer golf season) |

Topic: Golf Talk / GolfWorks Gabba Sold I’ve been into plenty of golf shops over the years, I know guys that work/have worked/managed and even own various HOG, Golfworks and Drummond stores. Talking to these guys its easy to realise that the customer wants the best price possible and the shop wants to make a dollar. From my experience the shops with the lower prices are only concerned with making the sale and usually dont care much about the customer. And by cutting the prices they usually dont stay in business long. Sure you might end up paying a little bit more (and I say a liitle bit cos you can always bargain a better price than the ticket price) but the service you gain in making sure the product is best for you in always worth it. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Going from a low handicap to a "no" handicap I have hit this barrier also. I guess that is the difference between a good golfer and a great one. One that can get through the barrier. I've just recently got back down to 4 for the second time. The first was 3 years ago and I believe I'm a much better player this time around. I guess you have to just keep at it. From a ball striking point of view a 4 marker can hit it just as well as a scratch golfer so the next step is to think better and believe and trust your swing. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Good general wedge help It depends on the lofts of the wedges you currently have. You prob need something to fill the gap in what you currently use. I'd recommend 48, 52, 56 and 60 if you want to carry 4 wedges. Or 48, 53, 58 if you want 3 wedges. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How did you all play this weekend? Played awsome for 17 holes. Hit oob on 14 and still managed to have 39 points. That shot cost me getting back down to 4. I'm sitting on 4.5 at the moment after yesterday. Oh well there is always next week |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Is this weights stuff crap?
It is actually against the rules. Rule 4-2a During a stipulated round the playing characteristics of a club must not be purposely changed by adjustment or by any other means. Penalty - Disqualification |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Is this weights stuff crap?
It's actually very easy to do and only a couple of minutes needed. I'm not sure if everyone knows but its against the rules to change the weights during a round for different holes, but I'm sure that doesn't stop some people |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Is this weights stuff crap? Depending on the conditions changing to a higher or lower ball flight is a good idea. But draw or fade bias? good for someone with a consistant swing, but someone with a consistant swing probably doesn't want to limit themselves to one shape. Just my 2 cents worth |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Stupid question - Why do people carry their clubs? I usually always carry my bag. I find it speeds up play as I can mark my card, clean clubs as I walk. As for the sand bucket, I usually just loop it over my umbrella handle. I prefer to carry my bag when its raining. 2 hands under the umbrella is better than 1. Sand bucket here is anoying but you get used to carying it. |
