Topic: first game of golf Lessons can be very hit and miss, so it’s worth hunting around for a good teacher who can get your fundamentals right without bamboozling you. I’m sure some people will be able to recommend some good teachers in your area. As a newbie I attended a 6 week “clinic” which was designed for people that had never played before, there wasn’t much real technique discussed, lots of people waving clubs around with the instructor offering a few words here and there. No real lasting benefit. |

Topic: first game of golf thanks heaps for the encouragement guys! u8ergolfer perfectly said it was heaps of fun specially with them. there was a deal they had goin at the course you get something like 2 or 3 lesson and an on course lesson as well for about $200 cant remember exactly do you guys think that sounds reasonable? i cant wait for my next game its great! I picked up alot of info from a book called the golf encyclopedia it has a picture of tiger woods on the front there is heaps of great info in there. it would be great to go out and play with some of you guys if your in the area? vossgl thats my next goal to break 100 I don think it will be to hard cus the main reason my score was so high was when I toped the ball and it only dribled a few metres so if i work on connecting right things will be well on there way. |

Great effort. Continue to enjoy, it’s a fascinating game that can never be completely mastered. You will find a certain skill level and from there you will need to reassess your next goals. From 122 first up I think a fair achievement would be breaking the ‘ton’ within a period of 12 months.Let’s not get too greedy. Buy three lessons from the local professional and seek advice regarding club selection with the emphasis on type of shaft. Good luck and good hitting. Look forward to your regular updates. Graham |

Topic: first game of golf Good to hear your out on the course playing. The most common fault in new golfers is the tendancy to try & hit the ball too hard. Take it a little easier & the ball will probably go farther. If you are really hooked go out & get lessons .Best way to avoid developing bad habits early. |

Topic: first game of golf hey guys well yesterday i went and had my first game of golf went with my dad and grandfather i played at the dorset golf course. on my first tee off i completely screwed it up lol and it went over the next fair way lol but other then that i didnt do to much bush bashing and lost about 6 balls and i found 5 so allmost square, my score for the day was 122 on a par 68 or 69 plenty of room for improvement. just out of curiostiy what can i do to help my swing when i tee off they curve to the right even when i hit on the sweet spot? i think lessons are in order lol but i sure am hooked on golf its so much fun |
