Topic: Golf Talk / Pay as you golf

I received my membership renewal with a broacher on “Pay as you Golf”. It allows you to pay your membership monthly (including any extra costs like bar or noms listed on renewal invoice). My club only offers a split payment option which they charge a $15 admin fee.

Curious if anyone uses pay as you golf. If so what are they like to deal with and what fee’s they charge.

Topic: Golf Equipment / which is a better golf ball for me

Boz,

What is the best way of finding which ball best suits a player?

Thanks to all who braved the weather and come out for a hit at Redcliffe. I’m glad that you enjoyed the course and the day. I had a ball, just wish I hit the front 9 as I did the back. 54 front, 42 back.

Topic: Golf Equipment / what ball is for me

I am a high handicapper and have been going through the same exercise as you, so will put in my 2 cents worth for what has worked for me. Off the tee my best distance is about 210 – 220m and on full short iron and wedge shots tend to shred soft balls. If 3 piece balls appeal to you then ones that I found have worked for me are
Srixon trispeed. The really soft feel takes a bit to get used to, but distance is great, shots into the green and putts predictable. Not a drop and stop unless a full shot. Designed for slower swing speeds and do not cut up. about $40.00 / dozen.

Agree with sarg, go get a sample pack of vision balls. I tried the Xpert2 and loved it, great feel (and sound) when you flush one, great distance, also predictable on approach shots and probably the best ball I’ve used for putting.
I thing for its price, exceptional value for money.

Hey Brett, will be great to have you along. First tee off is at 7.00, so if we can all meet at the pro shop by 6.45. The booking will be under ISG / Griffin. We can then split into our groups and all tee off together, and all catch up afterwards at the 19th.

Do you live nearby and have you played Redcliffe before?

If not where do you normally play?

cheers
Paul

Anyone interested in joining in please post a confirmation. All welcome.

Redcliffe is all good for 7.00 tee off.

I have booked 3 time slots for up to 12 people.

I am bringing a mate, so thus far that makes 7.

timarnold will enjoy Redcliffe if you liked Caboolture. It’s always in great condition with a good layout. Not quite as good as Kaperra though.

Greens are $32.00.

Bring mozie spray (only downside of Redcliffe)

Topic: Golf Talk / great service at golfworks aspley

yeah swedeas i remember him from golf world, but his new setup he doesn’t sell any big name gear. hence if you just wanted a quality fitting i’m sure he’d do it (at the right price of course), but he wouldn’t really have the ability to sell gear to someone who was chasing say taylor made or callaway gear.

i do appreciate the heads up tho!

Nick can get anything in any brand you want. He imports from the states and sells at about the same price as all the others if you get custom fitting, cheaper is you get off the rack.

I was thinking Monday 9th June, although it is likely to be busy we should be able to get a early tee, otherwise we can only get the usual lunchtime tee on Sunday and Saturday is reserved for members comp.

How about we try for another round on the Queens birthday long weekend.
I’m thinking somewhere a bit more central for all like Nudgee, Vagina, Keperra or Wantima.
Expressions of interest please. All welcome.

Tanks to all who came to the Caboolture day. I has a fat time and look forward too getting out with you all again soon.

ddasey,
Unfortunately I can’t make Pine Rivers, I have to be a responsible parent as am on kid duty on that day.

Brad,
Second shout must be mine. I still am having nightmares about my cold top drive, 2nd & 3rd shots on the 9th. Am happy to talk about the 17th though!

Hi all,

We are booked at the pro shop under GRIFFIN / ISG GROUP. Our tee time is down as 11.30, but if we can all meet at the pro shop by 10.45 we will be able to tee off just after 11.00. I confirmed the booking today and the pro shop will have us as the first social tee off due to the numbers.

I shall be lurking around the putting green / pro shop a bit before 10.45 and ask the pro shop to point me out when you book in. Will be wearing a white VISION PHANTOM hat. (cheers to boss).
Look forward to meeting you all.
c u there

Hi gents,

Just confirming we’re still on for friday?

FYI, had a lesson with Nick Tonga at North Lakes today and really enjoyed it.

I gave a little review over in my other thread, if you want to check it out: here

Absolutely. At this stage we have 5 definites from this string, and 1 maybe (my usual playing buddy).

All are welcome to join in.

Hopefully we may be able to make this a regular outing. ddasey may be able to host at Pine Rivers?

Topic: Golf Talk / Recommend a pro north of Brisbane?

I have gone to the Saturday clinic a few times and have found Nick to be great. Having tried a few pro’s in the past, they always wanted to dramatically change my swing, grip etc and at the end of the lessons I was hitting the ball worse. Some of the Pro’s completely contradicted each other, and totally confused me.
Nick’s approach is lay back and worked only on one part of my swing at a time, which gave me immediate results without feeling awkward. You don’t get a lot of coaching time at the clinics, depending on the amount of people that turn up on the day, but I have found the clinics to be very helpful.

Excellent.

I have confirmed the booking. We are able to tee off any time after 11.00am. Number don’t have to be confirmed until the day so the more the merrier. Although if anyone requires a cart it will have to be booked.

I will confirm final numbers with the pro shop the day before. Booking is in as ISG Social day so we can all meet at the pro shop at around 11.00am to sort groups before tee off.

Should be a good day. I’m sure the weather will be fine (fingers crossed). Doesn’t rain in Brisbane anyway. Apparently!!

Cheers

Cool Tim. Look forward to the game. I am also a walker, just didn’t want to restrict anyone. Hoping to have enough numbers for a couple of groups maybe.

I shall make a booking now to secure the 11.00 time slot.

Cheers

Brad, welcome to ISG. Popular place this Narangba is becoming.

Unfortunately I can not make this or following weekends.
As interest has grown I suggest the ANZAC weekend Friday 25th as the time and Caboolture as the place. All welcome but please give me a definite yes if you are able to make it so that I can make the booking. A comp is being played so tee times are limited from 6 – 8am and 11am – 2pm. I would prefer 11am as this allows for a sleep in but yet plenty as time for a beer after playing. Give me your thoughts. Also let me know if you need a cart to be booked.
Once numbers are sorted we can arrange a way of all meeting.
Look forward too a good day on the course.

Cheers
Paul

How much was your membership at Caboolture as thats where i’m going to join in the future do they have a driving range?. Would be happy to play a round there soon. Where abouts in Narangba are you, just a vauge location, i’m near the BP.

Any idea on this weekend? I can’t play on saturday as it’s my niece’s b’day is sunday an option. There is a small course near Pine Rivers called the One Mile if ddasey can’t make it might be worth playing there though it’s only a nine hole and green fees are $14.

I joined on a special offer that the club was running. $500.00 inc noms till end of September. I think the offer is still current. They do have a practice fairway but is restricted to irons and hybrids only. I use this a fair bit, take my own practice balls.
I live just up the road from you up the Narangba Valley S.S. end.
Will let you know about Sunday, did have plans but unsure if still happening.
If not Sunday would be great. I usually tee off round 11.30 once all social groups are gone, course is quiet then and easily get around in 4 hours. Let me know if this is a good time 4 you. email psgriff@tpg.com.au
