Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Kingaroy Golf Club Ahh Saturday arvo’s at Kingaroy in grade six, with lemon lime and bitters after, we felt like kings, (then called mum to come get us). Those were the days. Only remember two holes, one across a dry river bed and across the left hand side of a lake? Circa 1980ish |

Topic: Golf Talk / Golfing holiday in SE Asia Sabah on Malaysia’s east peninula isn’t a bad golf destination. Dalit Bay at the Rasa Ria the only one I’ve played personally which was great and a good resort to boot. Played Phuket County Club not bad either and a bit cheaper than Blue Canyon. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Canadian golf Just got back from a skiing holiday to Big White which is in the Okanagan, half way between Vancouver and the Rockies. Its obviously a popular skiing area but also the warmest summer destination in Canada. The golf and wine tourism side of things are booming with heaps of courses. The pick being Predator Ridge which has hosted the skins and is due to again host the skins. I lifted a bunch of adverts from the airport if wanted. |

Topic: The Lounge / Why America is scary 911 recordings of Texas man who killed two burglars released by Carl Willis The 911 call a Texas man made before he shot and killed two suspected burglars was released Thursday. The Pasadena man made the call when he saw two men climb out a window of his neighbor’s home on Wednesday. The 911 operator warned the man several times to stay in his home, but the man took matters into his own hands and confronted the burglars. Operator: “I’ve got officers coming out there. I don’t want you to go outside that house, and I don’t want you to have that gun in your hand when those officers are poking around out there.” Caller: “I understand that, but I have a right to protect myself too, sir.” Caller: “Here it goes, buddy.” (sound of shotgun pumping) “You hear the shotgun clicking and I’m going.” Operator: “Don’t go outside.” (sound of shotgun pumping) The man became upset as he described seeing two men leaving his neighbor’s home. Caller: “They got a bag of something.” Operator: “Don’t go outside the house.” Caller: “I’m doing it.” Operator: “Do not go outside the house.” Caller: “I’m sorry. This ain’t right, buddy.” Operator: You’re going to get yourself shot if you go outside that house with the gun.” Caller: “You wanna make a bet? I’m going to kill them.” Moments later a shotgun was heard firing at least twice. Both suspects died at the scene. Their names have not been released. Police found a pillowcase stuffed with hundreds of dollars. In the aftermath, the 911 operator tried to get a handle on the situation. Operator: “Put that gun down before you shoot an officer of mine. I’ve got several officers out there without uniforms on.” Caller: “I’m in the front yard right now.” Operator: “Put that gun down!” Police said the investigation into whether or not the shooter acted appropriately is ongoing. They spent most of Thursday taking precise measurements of the scene. According to legal analysts, in Texas a neighbor is permitted to use deadly force only if he has been asked to protect the other neighbor’s property. Police said it is not clear if that was the case in this situation. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Cancer and Golf Recently had a melanoma cut out of ankle and missed about 5 weeks. Long term is a wait and see. No golf affected side effects except the slippery grips from the copious amounts of spf15+ now using. though this scares the ** out of me. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Phuket Golf Played Phuket Country Club, had a great day with two non english speaking crazy japanese. The only downer was upseting the caddy after a great day, by not tipping enough. Should have asked the crazy ones first. Interesting ‘driveable’ par 5 10th, which runs 270 degrees around lake. Had a few smacks after the regular shot, and finally got 1 ball ‘dry’ but not on green. |

Topic: Sports Talk / Judd - Cleared Wasn’t there a big hoohaa at the start of the season that the head would be protected and that players had a ‘duty of care’? The ‘it wasn’t intentional’ line seems to get everyone off. We have come a long way since Winmar got 11 weeks for gouging Brereton following being prevoked, something that also seems to get players off. (Brereton told the tribunal there was no eye contact) |

Topic: Golf Architecture / Commonwealth GC No news on the tip, and short of putting in a couple of temporary holes as extras, I can't see there being any movement next door for some time yet. Its a tough one though with space required given the limited practice facilities, parking, and slice room off the 10th. I would love to hear some suggestions as to how the quarry can be incorporated. Maybe practice facilities & 2nd carpark accessed from Jacks Road? |

Topic: Sports Talk / Who will win the AFL Flag?
Given Ben's 'night and day' remark I'm hoping for
at least 5-1, but who's going to offer that.
Weren't Adelaide lauded as 'night and day' better
than st kilda last year, and the swans required a freakish last
quarter to get over the cats. Its a new ball game starting friday night, everyones a chance. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Sergei tackles a tricky lie Russia plans to hit a golf ball into Earth orbit from the International Space Station. If NASA approves the plan, the ball would set records for the longest drive ever made – but some experts warn that a mishap could cause "catastrophic" damage to the station. The plan is part of a commercial deal between the Russian space agency and Element 21 Golf Company, based in Toronto, Canada. In the plan, the station's next crew members, due to launch to the station on 29 March, will try for the record-breaking swing during one of three planned spacewalks by September 2006.
Makes you wonder how much on ebay would an original pill from Alan Sheppards shots on the moon be worth? Surely the most collectable of all golf memorabilia |

1. Carlton vs Essendon for a draw on 23/7/2006. 2 teams that can't muster a win... couldn't muster a win. It was fate. 2. 2006 US Open - Geoff Ogilvy. Had thought for a while that he was the most likely Aussie to bag a major but just couldn't bring myself to outlay some cashola. 3.2006 British Open, I was going to take every cent I had in my account and pop it on Tiger to win at $6.50...and I did 4. Empire Rose in the 1988 MacKinnon Stakes. Paid about $51 after cleaning up Vo Rogue. A mate talked me out of it on the basis that Vo Rogue was "unbeatable". At least I got the Empire Rose / Natski quinella in the Melbourne Cup that year. 5. I was watching Once Were Warriors on the telly one night. Just as Jake brings that nice bag of seafood home to his missus, I was thinking "there might be a fight brewing here" . I shoulda got on Jake at any price - he was a special. 6.
