Topic: Golf Talk / slope system

I suppose I’m looking for clarification on how the system affects a persons handicap. For example….at present I play off 9.3. The par for the course I play is 70 and the CCR is normally 68. At present I loose 0.2 for every shot better than CCR and get back 0.1 every time I do not play to my handicap.

How is handicap adjusted with the slop system?

Topic: Golf Talk / slope system

I have been reading a bit on archivied topics about the “slope system” . I understand how different courses are rated with the more difficult courrses having a higher slope rating than an easier course.
My question is more about how it actually works in practice. Does the CCR become obsolete? How are handicaps adjusted?Any information would be appreciated.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Ping i10s or Mizuno Mp 57s?

I went through the same debate 3 or 4 months back. MP57’s or Ping I 10. Tried them both. Finally bought the Pings. I have been extremely happy with them.

I play off 9 and am capable of hitting the odd good shot. I found that the difference in feel off the sweet spot was so similar it was not a factor. However the slight off centre shots for me was much better with the Pings.

As far as workability, both work very well. It will get down to which brand you particularly like. Either way they are both great.

I have an event comming up that I really want to try to be “at the top of my game”

Q: What do you guys do to peak for a special event,

It’s that time of the year again that a lot of southern folk come up to Hervey Bay to see the whales. If anyone is planing to come up this way we have 2 lovely golf courses Maryborough and Hervey Bay that you should play. I’d be happy to show you arround both courses if you need a playing partner.

If you are going to get a new set of wedges, as well as the loft the wedges you will need to consider the bounce angle that suits the hardness of the fairways, texture of the sand etc. (Giveing that you play on one course more than others).

If your handicap is circulating around the 17 mark, I would be considering getting a 4 wood instead of a 3 wood. The slightly shorter shaft and the increase in loft will probably see you have better success in the accuracy stakes and get the ball flying a liitle higher which in the long run will probably equate to around the same distance as the 3 wood.

Topic: Golf Talk / Mens Golf Apparel

The place I bought through was “onlinesuits.com”. If you follow the measurement chart ( which is easy) you will finish up with a well tailored pair of trousers, (thats my experience anyway) As I said it takes about 3 weeks from the time you order to the time you take delivery.

On the website you have a huge choise of colour and fabrics. (I chose the cheeper fabrics at first and was very pleased with the results.

I used paypal to pay for the items and was able to track the delivery as it made it’s way to my door.

I’ve had many comment about the colour. Some very favourably and some who seem to think a guy shouldn’t wear such colours.

I alway repy to them the same way and ask “do you know why I wear these colours” Answer “because I FG well can!!!

Topic: Golf Talk / Mens Golf Apparel

Honestly mens clothing in general is soooo boring. I grew up with golf in the days of Rodger Davis and Stuart Ginn in plus fours and other in reds and pinks and yellows and golf had so much colour.

Recently I thought bugger the blacks, navy blue or beige trousers, I want some colour. Do you think I could find any shop that sold colours out of the norm.

I found a place overseas that have dozens of different colours. They have an easy measurement system so I thought why not and ordered a pair of trousers off them. They were around $50 made to measure and delivered to my door.

When they arrived they were fantastic. Fitted like a glove and the workmanship was excellent. ( It took about 3 weeks for delivery from when I first made the order)

I have since orders 4 other pairs and all were quality garments.

If you are interested leave a msg.

Playing in a 27 hole comp the card for the 1st 18 and a 9 hole card are stapled together.

At the end of the comp do both cards have to be signed or is it ok to just sign the last one.

Topic: Golf Talk / How to lower your handicap..Leave your tip

If you are really serious about lowering your handicap then my suggestion would be that you grab your self a couple of lessons concentrating on shots within 30 metres of the green.

When I was younger and had time and enthusiam for practise, this is the area I worked on. I managed to get my hcp down to 4 and I believe that achievement was aided by a drill I worked on dilligently.

I would take 6 balls, stand at a hole and throw them off in different directions and different distances. I would not leave until I had pitched/chipped and putted the six balls.

The only thing that would stop me from achieving this was darkness or Melbourne’s freezing winters making it so cold that I couldn’t feel the club in my hands. (Consequently I moved to QLD)

As a consequence my ratio of up and downs during a game were very high. Knowing that I had a better than good chance of making the up and down meant that i had little pressure on my irons to the greens. This in effect relaxed my thoughts and my swing and the result was that I made more greens.

So many people stand belting drivers on a range. Now I’m not saying that driving is not important, but it is not where the majority of your shot are saved. The old saying of “drive for show and putt for $” is an oldie but stands so true in lowering any score.
