Topic: Golf Classifieds / Guerin Rife Two Bar Mallet Putter - $175

Thanks,
I originally bought this to turn into a broomstick putter, but unfortunately you cant just turn them into one because of the lie angle. You have to order them specially made like this from rife. I have ordered my broomstick one, but yeah its going to be an expensive lesson. Silly me! Yeah this is a really good price for this putter, I’m losing a fair bit of money on it, maybe a lot of people dont know this brand, not really sure, but they are highly rated.

Rebel,
are you saying that the lie could not be adjusted enough to be used as a broomstick ?

Topic: Golf Talk / Elanora fantastic

I played NSW a month ago and have played it maybe 6 times overall, luckilly with customers most times so it went on expenses ! current price to play was $160 and for that you walk which is surprisingly easy to do. the most picturesque course I think Ive ever played, and they are doing a bit of work in the lead up to the 2010 open, should be in top shape by then. If you get to play try get away in the morning before the wind gets up that can make it a real test but thoroughly enjoyable. Fairly easy to get onto they have plenty of tee times available for non members but you need to give them plenty of notice. The sort of course that makes you think off the tee, especially if your driver is a little off. must play course in Australia

Topic: Golf Talk / Elanora fantastic

Live 4,
from what I know, if you have to ask – you cant afford it,
rumour has it that a few members joined another club whilst the work was being done, the other club ?? The Australian !!

Andrew,, Thats the first time Id played it but had walked it before watching our pennant team going around. not sure about Pymble or Avondale but Wilcher has done a particularly nice job, hopefully the topography of the individual courses should be enough to differentiate but again I cant comment on the other two.
I thought the par fives were most impressive, in a design sense and yes fairly generous in many of the landing areas, but the greens were superb.

Would’ve liked to but price kinda put me off.

I thought the price was very reasonable, yeah it was $130 but that included lunch and oncourse drinks, pretty good value in my book.

Topic: Golf Talk / Elanora fantastic

Shanky, I played Elanora yesterday too…but on the HP side :) Nice course, tough greens….can’t remember the blokes name but the greenkeeper is an ex-assistant green keeper from Augusta (the one in Georgia, US).

I managed to sneak home with the longest drive for the day and we beat the pro on the par-3 but didn’t collect the money…it was for charity after all :)

A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

Nice one, yeah those greens were something !
Good drive, I ripped one out of the screws and still managed to be 10m short of yours. Great concept for the day and I had a blast but Im surprised there were not more players involved, the GA guys didnt seem to have many in for lunch. Hope they open it up again next year maybe – Ill be back.

Why not take him to a reputable clubfitter and get him a custom job, for the same price as a good OEM club ?

Topic: Golf Talk / Elanora fantastic

just got back fro the Golf Australia foundation day at Elanora, in Sydney, which has to be probably one of the most exclusive in Syd. Had a fantastic day and played some crap golf but loved every minute of it. Well done golf Australia would love to play some more “exclusive” tracks. Looking forward to the next one. Any body else played this fantastic layout ?- let us know what you thought.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Driving Range at home

Nice one Steb, where did you get the net from ?
my stuff is set up in the shed, with a range mat, 2nd hand from local club but in good nick, a range mat I made, which served the purpose but is not as good as the real thing, and a pop up net off ebay, – surprisingly durable plus I can shift it outside in summer to hit off the grass. also a 3 metre putting mat so Ican hit anything from a putter to driver and all in between.

Topic: Golf Talk / most frustrating weekend of golf

All, I need to rant after the most frustrating weekend of golf,- should have been a cracker with three rounds in 4 days all with permission. Starts out with me forking out 400 for a Callaway FT5, tried it , demoed it, orderered it, any way they send the wrong one, not once but twice,so three weeks later its at the club and Im pumped, Friday afternoon not many around so I pull it out on the first – BOOM, 220m just short of the green, OK thats good, drop another ball on the tee, BOOM again 225 on the front edge, HELLO BABY, all that afternoon long, straight nice little draw, Im in love ! Next morning 11.30 start playing with my old man and his mates, money on the line,....Massive slice , hook, bigger slice, Good one down the middle, slice, hook, CHOP, CHOP, CHOP, lost all the bets. and copped a serve from the old bastards.
Sunday 7 am tee time with mates ..same thing, hook , slice, chop, chop, chop, ARGHHHHHH !
Monday too distraught to even think about playing golf. Tuesday straight to the range after work…. you guessed it long straight, touch of draw…
How can I love and hate this game so much at one time. Apollogies if this rant was a little long winded but I had to get it off my chest.. cant wait for next weekend !

Topic: Golf Talk / Lost club, lost faith...

That works for me junior, I dont always have time to go back to my bag but always leave the loose club between the hole and my bag, that way I have to walk right past it/ over it to get back to my bag.
The group I usually play with are great, we will hold loose clubs for the other while putting out.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Stand Bags

I think the top 3 were Ping, then Nike then Mizuno.

“the woods are full of long drivers”

Are you sure about Ping? when I brought my TM stand bag I tried the Ping one, it felt very fragile. but the Mizuno one was great, however the TMX just looks freakin awesome lol

Ill have a look tonight and see if I cant post or link the results somewhere.
might just depend on the model ?

Topic: Golf Equipment / Stand Bags

Hello all fantastic forum. This is my first post and I am only just now getting back into golf.

I am looking for a new bag to put the old clubs in and am thinking of going for a stand bag over a cart.

I don’t really know what I am looking for but really like the look of the OGIO’s (just can’t find anyone who stocks the one I want) and the MIZUNO’s (although they seem a little pricey).

I am just not sure if I would be better off buying a new one now or a second hand one and upgrading later if I’m happy with the feel of them.

My question is what would you expect to pay for a second hand (name branded) stand bag and where do you find these.

Thanks guys

I just read a review in a UK golf magazine of all the top brands of stand bags, and the OGIO got panned for performance. ( the stand actually broke on the test and the stability was poor)I think the top 3 were Ping, then Nike then Mizuno.

Topic: Golf Talk / US too strong for Europe at Valhalla

I guess I should have watched my recording before checking ISG :-(

And the constant chants of “U-S-A, U-S-A”… Yuck!

Seemed to me that the players at least appeared to play in the right spirit, although I’m sure that Harrington was rather pissed with Campbell when he had to tap one in on the 12th or 13th because Campbell was already on his way too the next tee…

Yeah I hate that USA ! USA ! chant its right up there with Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi Oi Oi !!!
At least the europeans can sing !
