Topic: Golf Equipment / Taylormade Drivers

I’m a bit of an equipment junky and i have tried a poo load of big name drivers and i must confess the CGB max is up there with the best i’ve hit. It looks real classy sounds solid and the wieghts really do adjust the ball flight. Bought one off the net from U.S cos their way too exspensive over here.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titleist 905R with aldila NV stiff flex, change to V2 Shaft?

I’m thinking of doing the same thing with my driver. i have a Taylormade CGB max with an Aldilla proto by you shaft and it feels too whippy and uncontrollable. so i think the best option would be to put in a ust proforce v2 high launch shaft i guess , not sure???
i’d be interested to hear your results.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Ball Advice

I have the same problem with provx so i tried out the vision arctic white ball and was very impressed with the length and feel. It is not squishy like some people on this forum have indicated. If you want squishy try the maxfly noodle tour it’s an absolute marshmellow!! I was given some noodles long and soft when i was in the USA and they were sensational. Cant find them in oz and also i noticed the wording on the box they came in says Taylormade. So i agree their heaps better than the noodles you buy here in oz.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Advice needed

I was faced with the same dilemma when i was choosing between callaway x16 and nike slingshots. I eventually went with callaway x16 and found them to be exceptional. However the nike slingshots and for that matter the big bertha irons are easier to hit, probably cos of their wider sole. Anyways feedback is x18 are much improved over x16 and x20 even moreso they are the ducks nuts.

Topic: Golf Equipment / "Half-draw" Drivers

Dave and Ditty it;s heartening to read your sound advise on methods of eliminating the dredded slice. Well done! I put most of those drills into practice a few years ago and cured my slice to the point where i draw the hell out of everything. If theres a fairway bunker on the left i”ll find it.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Drivers with Moveable SCREWS

I purchased the TM r7 CGB max and highly recomend this club. Put in an upgraded Aldilla proto shaft and smash my drives a mile. I hit the ball with a slight draw but over time my draw became more pronounced so i changed the wieghts to a more neutral position and have straight to slight draw again. If your slice is caused by leaving the face open but your swing path is ok then movable weights can assist you by making it easyier to control rotations. An outside to in swing or hitting over the top is another story.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Ping Raptures

I purchased a set of Raptures ‘4 to pw’ from the U.S ebay used but in a1 condition for $670 and they are brilliant. They took a bit of sorting out on the range cos there weighty out near the toe, i needed to reach a tad more and slow down my swing and now i hit them real sweet.I used to play with Callaway x16 but i think the raptures are better.

Topic: Golf Talk / When is the weather too bad??

I’ll play in any conditions, rain cyclonic wind extreme heat , its all a good test for your mettle. The only time i’lldecline a round is when it been raining heavy for hours and the greens are submerged in water making it unplayable.

Get a lesson.

Topic: Golf Equipment / New Driver?

Mate i’ve tried a heap of drivers searching for perfection. Not too fussed on the heads although not impressed with Nike Sumo and the likes with their tin can sound. Settled on Taylormade r7 CGB max with Aldilla proto shaft. Long and straight and for the first time ever i can actually pick a spot out on the fairway rather than just try to land on the fairway.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Reducing driver length to 44""

have i been fooling myself all these years. If i tee up on a tight fairway i simply grip down on the shaft of my driver which effectively shortens the length of the club and gives me more control. Too easy.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Just feel the need to share this...rude dude in WA

no need to be that agressive but i can see where he’s comming from.I advertised a Muzuno MX 560 driver brand new still in plastic in the readers mart for $200. A dude offered me $150. ( they retail for around $500 ) So sometimes it feels like your almost giving it away and someone will still want it for nothing.

do you still have the driver?

No i sell stuff real cheap for a quick sale.

Topic: Golf Equipment / MX19s VS Slingshots

I was using callaway x16s then switched to Ping Raptures and found the Raptures easier to hit. They have a wider sole which helps eliminate fat shots. Game improvement irons are all about perimeter weighting and wider soles.

Topic: Golf Equipment / shaft flex

Hey , I found a really good set of Ping irons on ebay thats too good to let go. The only issue is i would normally use regular flex shafts (Dynamic Gold R300 ) and these shafts on ebay are stiff Dynamic Gold S300. Can anyone tell me if this would cause me problems. ??

whats the go with those feel golf release grips where the grip has a reverse taper that is thicker near the shaft like a baseball bat. Has anyone tried them.
