Topic: Golf Talk / Players Champs Golf commentator Greg???

I was sure it was his voice but couldn’t think of why he would be on tv commentating golf. Maybe he’s a mate of Ogle’s? :)

Actually Greg Ritchie is the partner of Rachel Hetherington, the Autralian pro golfer, and lives with her in the United States. But you’re right, he’s ordinary as a commentator.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Scotty Cameron Putters

Hi mate I bought one on ebay from America for just under $A300, a Newport style brand new. I don’t believe it’s a fake; certainly feels good. Pity it hasn’t turned around my putting woes!

Topic: Golf Talk / Badds, Day and Flanagan confirmed for Australian Open

One difference between the golf Open and the tennis Open… the tennis a Grand Slam (ie major). That’s why they come and the golf doesn’t have that lure. The golf Open needs to pump up the prizemoney over time and get the best Asian players. That’s about the best we could hope for.

Topic: Golf Talk / Sanctuary Lakes Membership

Sanctuary Lakes is an excellent course sarriepod, and I’m fortunate enough to have played all the good ones. It’s built on a rubbish bit of land and Norman has created something out of nothing by pushing dirt around. It is like a links course and it’s in excellent conditiion. The downsize is that the land is exposed and it can be terribly windy at times, which makes it play very tough. Membership is by debenture, meaning you can sell it later if you don’t like the course. Last time I checked, they were worth about $20 k.

Topic: Golf Talk / Barbougle dunes

You will not regret the trip to Barnbougle mate, with one proviso, that being the weather. The course is exposed and can be somewhat Scottish on a bad day. As a course, it’s one of the best in Australia without doubt. They have good meals in the clubhouse and accommodation as well. Beware it takes a while to get there as there are a few different ways to drive from Launceston. If you have the cash, you can fly from Moorabbin!

Topic: Golf Talk / What would you be hitting? Oakmont 8th

Click

288 Yards… (262M) off the back.

Nick O said that it was a stock driver for him – hahaahahahah

A wedge (after layup)! LOL. Actually they’re saying if you fly the bumker the fairway runs downhill to the green, so it’s not quite as bad as it sounds. Still, that’s going to be a driver for me.

Topic: Golf Talk / Adam Scott...

Scott would have had to shoot 65 to win outright anyway……..he’s best to save his luck for next week.

He has proven that he can finish in marquee events like the Players and Tour Championships – let’s hope he continues the recent form next week.

Can someone tell me what happened with the triple? I missed it. Disappointing finish, but good point about needing a 65. With his ball-striking and consistency, a tough test at Oakmont could be good for Scott.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Taylormade R5 Dual Type D Grafalloy vs Std Shaft

QUOTE: icandy @ May 24 2005, 11:50 AM

Hi all,
I just won two Taylormade R5 Dual Type D on Ebay, one with standard regular shaft and another with regular grafalloy blue shaft.
Now i'm not sure which one to pick. Anyone had any experiences with any of these.
I would prefer to keep one of them new and resell later but if I do have to test both, I guess thats the way I have to go. If you do recommend going on a launch monitor, I can't seem to find one in Canberra. is there a shop maybe in Sydney where I can test both on the launch monitor without me having to unpackage both of them.

Alan

Hi Alan
I have a new R5 D type with a standard shaft and it goes like the clappers. I'm not sure about the other one you mention, but rest assured the first one is terrific. Very forgiving, as the marketing spiel says.
