Hi Samiam,

The course you mentioned in Essendon, is actually Riverside Golf and Tennis Club. Its a nice little 9 hole course which would be good to learn on.
Ron LeBroque is the coach there. (Well he used to be there) I haven’t been there for a while.

Try and buy a bundle of lessons all at once as it may be cheaper, or another idea would be to join some of the workshops they have at Riverside.
These normally cost around $150 for 5 weeks and teach you form the full swing through to putting. This may ideal to start of with first and then go with the private lessons.

Slow play
people not raking bunkers,
people not repairing divots or pitch marks
and one my course pet hates are courses with uneven or really crappy tee boxes.

wow, if its 1.5 – 2 hrs drive, i would probably give it a miss, even though i do have sat nav to assist.
I would rather spend that 1.5 – 2 hours on a course.
I am now looking at hope island too.

Got hit in the lower back from a guy who took a full swing with a fairway wood while i was standing about 15metres ahead of him. The ball was moving at a pretty fast pace.
He sliced it big time and the ball came around that quick that I didn’t even have time to react.
Brought a couple of tears to my eye. Stung like hell and bruised up nicely.

Sanctuary Lakes does get very windy!!!! I took it the drive was about 300m???....370m to the green, but up a few metres from the back markers and finsihed 62m short…makes it about 300m?

I’ve been finding lately my drives with the wind can reach 270m+ while the next hole back into the wind a perfect drive for me won’t reach 200m!!! The average is about 225m. For ISG purposes only the ones with the wind count :P

Windyhill, you are spot on. The drive was around 300m What i was saying that the length of the hole is 370m and the ball landed with 62m left to the whole.
ended up paring the whole becuase i duffed my pitch to the green.
My average though is around 240 – 260m.

Well I did the biggest drive I have ever done in my life.
the breeze did definately help me.
Sanctuary Lakes 10th tee. 370m from the Tee to Green.
Drove a beautiful ball, landed right beside teh 62m sprinkler head marker. Giive or take a few metres for the tees, (might have been a little forward) but wind or no wind, I was pretty stoked. Also being that I am only a short ass with not that much power.

I know the one near me is open on Monday, but not Sunday.
I think it will probably be the same for most.

Best bet would be to go to a golf club which i believe majority are open tomorrow and purchase your supplies from a pro shop.

Love to see Ogilvy win another event, especially with handling the pressure of tiger on his tail.
As for Scott, he will really need to lift his game to have any chance and not do stupid shots like his last 2 tee offs on the 17th and 18th.

Good news psoul1, according to this month’s golf australia magazine, the masters will be simulcast on 10HD and channel 10, and I believe this is the same for all 4 majors. Only the WGC (and after this week there is only one more for the year…) will be shown exclusively on 10HD.

And for those who have Foxtel and were annoyed that the CA Championship wasn’t on Fox Sports, the good news is that the Foxtel Digital package will soon start broadcasting 10HD, much like they broadcast ABC2.

Guys, we have a thread which asks “which is the toughest course you have played” what I am wondering is which course always gets the better of you and you keep struggling when you play it.

Mine is Gisborne. Great course and absolutely love it, but every time i have a round there, I seem to crumble and my game goes to crap.

Which course does this to you?
