Getting back into golf after 20yrs. Used to have Cobra blades back in the day.

Bought a cheap set this time just to put my toe in the water and see if I wanted to go further again.

After a few lessons and practice the bug has bit again. Traded cheap irons in on 2nd hand Mizuno Mp combo set in mint condition. 4-6 mp53 7-9 mp59.

Tried a few of the new GI irons from the big names. But kept coming back to the 2nd hand Mizuno’s.

Gotta say Best moves I ever made was getting lessons and buying these irons.

When I was umming and rring about which way to go. I wasn’t making consistent contact and the GI Irons were probably the way to go. However I just felt really positive at address when looking down at the Mizuno’s and the weight seemed to be perfect.

They are still above my playing ability but I am narrowing that gap and the feel I get when hitting a nice crisp one well that will do me.

This thread actually peaked my interest in mizuno and I am glad it did.

Broke them in at Palm Meadows this morning. Having never owned a set of clubs made by any of the more reputable manufacturers, the difference was incredible. Best bloody $200 investment I’ve ever made. Creamed my mate by 13 shots as well :) :)

I’m a hacker using 10 year old Brosnan Rhinos – akin to having leprosy according to some.

I just picked up a set of MX-19 irons in VGC from 3Balls for $210 shipped. I know they are cast and the bottom of the Mizuno food chain but I think my golfing life just took a turn for the better.

welcome to the mizuno club

no worries

hey I tried MP 650 driver today and this is a rocket off the face

yes its open faced driver but I hit this thing sweet as.

9.5 deg stiff. There was a demo sitting there and I just looked at and thought – I will give this a try

ball flew nice

I didnt need a new driver at all as the razr fit Xtreme is a nice bat – but what the hell

bargain at $170 new !!

Dave, what was the ball flight like. I’ve been looking at this club in the 9.5degree . I’m going to to up grade from my old mx500 10.5 degree with the Graff alloy blue .

Very likely. He’s had more clubs than I’ve had hot dinners.

Nice work! I tried what I think was a Jpx825 driver when I did the iron clubfit. Hit it sweet too but I’m hanging on to my Ping g20 for the moment

yeah I did my own after looking at some You tube vids on how to do it

I’m on 7 and trying like hell to get to 5 or 6 and reckon the JPX 825 pros will be the go

shaft weight in irons I reckon is as important as flex – I have always used 110-115 gram shafts so KBS is in that range

I hit the 6 iron on the range with a KBS and it was landing 150 on the button (with no roll) so thats good to go

When we get our clubs we can compare notes on how they are performing. I expect mine in about a week.

I’d love to try the Swing DNA gismo. Have emailed Mizuno several times trying to find out where I can try it on the Gold Coast, but do they ever reply?

If anyone knows, I’d appreciate the heads up.

My nearby on-course pro shop has a Mizuno fitting cart, and the Swing DNA gizmo is part of it. You could try and nearby pro shops that stock Mizuno gear.

Also here’s a video with their tech guy explaining how it all works, their mizunogolfeurope channel on Youtube has the best product videos of any manufacturer I’ve seen so far

Check out the Demo days link on the Mizuno Australia site. There is a demo day coming up on the Gold Coast
