Topic: Golf Equipment / What determines the performance of a ball? Ok with the release of the 3 new Bridgestone balls (treo, b330-rx and e7+) it got me wondering about golf ball construction . . . I can understand how feel & distance may be varied by the composition of the 2, 3 (or 4) layers of the ball and cover combinations, however I am curious about 1. What determines how much a ball spins off a driver, where low spin is preferred vs short irons/wedges with high spin preferred. 2. What influences how much a ball is influenced by wind, other than outer cover material? 3. Is it the dimples design that determines a balls flight height? And no, I am not into ball construction & design in the way some are into Architecture . . . . just curious is all. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Why do the pros do this? I dont much time these days to practise/play, so in the lead up to a game I will do a lot of swing visualisation, concentrating on how it feels and rythmn. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Advantage Custom Clubmakers You could also try Gary Langridge (ex Advantage Custom Clubmakers clubfitter) on 0433 198 070. Working from home in (i think) Bilgola. I know quite a few blokes who will also highly recommend him and he is VERY reasonable $ wise too. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Annual Membership Subs I have a handicap through Riverside Oaks, app $115 p.a and requirement to play there a minimum of 3 time per year at cost app $70 per. With two young boys limiting the amount I can play I can’t justify the $3K for Oatland, or app $2k for Muirfield, even tho I live within 10 mins of each. Perhaps in a few years. . . . . burger. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Wet Course and thick rough OK, so after lots of rain here in Sydney I played in a social club I kick around a bit with. So after spending some time in the long Kikiyu, I decided I have no idea how hard to hit a ball nestled down in about 3-4 inches of Kike. On one of the early holes I only needed to go about 50m and it took me 3 shots! Thanks, stu. |
