Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Dreaded Chicken Wing
Thanks for the tip Dart, I practiced on the range the other day and with this in mind. I found that my backswing was basically going over my right shoulder rather than around creating coil. I felt like a human slingshot and used muscles and tendons i haven’t used since i was sixteen. The OTT is gone (for now but hopefully for good) and i hit a couple drives with my three wood about twenty to thirty metres further than usual. Because my downswing isn’t like a lumberjack chopping wood anymore i seem to have reduced backspin quite a bit by having a shallower attack angle.. My measured backspin on a launch monitor was 4500-5500 with the driver so hopefully this will improve considerably now. This may not have been the intention of your post but it certainly got me thinking in the right direction Thanks again Chris |

Golf was built on traditions of respect and ettiquette which is fast becoming a thing of the past. It seems there are a few players that don’t take a second to think how their actions might be affecting everyone else, or just don’t care. Getting a seventh read on a putt for birdie seems to be sufficient cause to hold up the course. |

Topic: Ask Bruce / Unrepaired divot hole at Masters The problem with any ruling on it being GUR is where the ruling start and where it ends, does an 8 week old divot thats 95% covered over give the player a right to relief, when do you determine that the last blade of grass has grown sufficiently enough that it is no longer GUR.. Players would be taking relief just about anywhere making all sorts of stupid claims |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cobra FP Hi guys, i know the “What new irons should i get?” has been done to death but i wasn’t sure what thread to tack my question too. Through rather unfortunate circumstances i no longer have a set of clubs, was previously using Titleist 755’s. I’m keen to buy a new set ASAP so i can get swinging again and saw that i could get the Cobra FPII irons reasonably cheap. I’m a nine handicapper and swing my driver at 98-105 mph I found my 755’s to be great clubs but i lack the consistency needed to use them well after a week or two off, also they had S300’s fitted and i think i might need to swallow my pride and go down a peg to regain some distance and a bit of feel. Anyhow, the Cobra’s seem to fit the bill as far as forgiveness and also have the narrow sole small offset that i like. Has anyone had an opportunity to use these?i’m keen to hear your thoughts especially any comments regarding the nippon n.s standard shaft offering Cheers, Chris |

continue handing over money, they will continue putting up the price. If everyone refused to pay that amount the price would have to come down |

Topic: Golf Talk / 7-9 hcp stats, f/w's,gir, putts etc I guess the same could be said about fairways, Do you count it if it richochettes of a tree into the middle of the faiway? If you are 1 metre from the green after two on a par five, chip on and two putt.. do you fail to add it as a missed up and down?? |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Teaching a newbie
Have to agree, start small, your more likely to learn faster and maintain motivation if your making contact most of the time. 8 iron on full shots might be a good start or maybe start with putting and small chips if she has the patience, if you start with a driver or Fwy Wood she’d be bound to loose confidence quickly.. I’d leave advice out of it until your asked, if they are having a hard time and you continue to suggest what to do it might come across a little patronising.. alot of the time it’s better for people to work it out themselves, creates a sense of achievement and accomplishment, and if they make the fault again they know how to fix it. I would suggest starting with a few games, ie, trying to leave all the putts within one metre of the hole, chipping within two metres etc etc.. you can always change the games to avoid unnecessary pressure to perform. but atleast the focus is not on the mechanics of a swing which just confuses 90% of the population. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / keeping club face square through impact I found that i cured OTT when i realised i was straightening my right leg to create a hip turn (although more a slide), as soon as i worked that out, I maintained the knee flex and coiled correctly.. Added distance was the big bonus, and far better contact as a result of less of a descending attack angle. Chris |

Topic: Golf Equipment / 'Draw' drivers Atleast with a neutral driver you get the shot feedback, you don’t have to guess whether you hit a draw or the club helped you do it, draw drivers are a band aid fix, sometimes it’s just better to know your faults and work on them rather than covering them up until they get so bad not even the strongest draw bias can fix them. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Help....In a panic
Sounds like the extra length in the club has put you too close to the ball, causing you to hit the hosel or comeover the top causing the pull. I struggled with this forages until i made sure the butt end of the club was vertically inline with the tip of my toes.. See my comment in Ask the guru about ‘curing outside in on the course’ This is the only change I made after constantly pulling slicing and shanking the ball for about three months, Since i changed a couple weeks ago i’ve had 39, 44 and 42 stableford points. It has worked for me, and may not for you but in these desperate times anything is worth a try. |

Topic: The Lounge / Aussie's best and brightest Reports are he was beaten up in a recent brawl, was all caught on a mobile phone. Isn’t it interesting how what goes around comes around. Hope the kid that shot the video profits from the experience like Corey did. Corey might see what it’s like on the receiving end and wake up to himself. |
