Topic: Golf Talk / Swing advice needed Another tip someone gave me once was swing with your hips, not hands /shoulders. Hence. concentrate use your back pocket (right butt) to sweep u’r weight through the ball, not focusing on the hands at all. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Southern Golf Club Springvalley paid somthing like 6mil for their clubhouse and includes a gym underground. Southern upgraded nearly the same time and paid over 7mil, but no gym. Southern is great now, the clubhoouse is centered between the 2 nines, as oppose to the old layout they had a since a couple years ago. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Hit by a ball! When playing, have a buddy stand near you at every shot. On the other hand, you’ve increased you sense of the ball when on the course. This could be a good thing if you look in a positive way. |

Topic: Golf Talk / How do you practice? A lot of practice shots replayed in my mind. Good and bad shots. Trying to get the body to feel a certain type of shot. This works if you practice and play regularly. Time spent on the range is to help build up my muscle memory and control … and if I want to improve my consistency on recue shots. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? I also think that the tell tale sign of forged irons getting dinged/ scratched /etc a whole lot easier than cast iron head, should say something about the “softness” of the feel – should it? Or is it really about the whole club set up (ie. shaft /grip). |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? Example 4) Titleist DCI 981 (forged, solid looking blade with rounded edges) – very forgiving for blade style clubs. Like the I-302, the soft feel was there more frequently than the Dominos. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? Example 3) Srixon I-302 (forged, rifle shaft, traditional looking blade for a modern club) – the club head had a more rounded feel than both Example 1) & 2) and may have given me the perception of an easier “sweeping” swing rather than “chopping”. It gave a nice soft feel … and like the Mizuno Pro Originals … a more consistent soft feel than the Domino cast head. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? Example 2) Mizuno Pro Orignal (forged, R300 TrueTemper, Victory Pride half cord grips, sharp looking heads) – the offset on these blades are not any less than the Dominos, but feel a lot easier to hit. The corded grips to feel as spongy as the air cushions, but consistenly gives a nice “soft” feel when the ball is struck. The sharp profile head though tends to really dig nice chucks out of the fairway. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? From my experience: Example 1) My Mizuno Dominos (cast head, reg shaft, average shape head, air cushion grip) – difficult to find the sweet spot, tends to tear up more fairway than my other clubs, and feels very hard (despite the air cushion grips) |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? But I really think the “soft” feel of the club depends not on the “high quality” of steel but highly dependant on how you hit the ball (ie. it’s got to do with the whole club feel, shaft and all). |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? It was a little dissapointing, as I use to think forged heads was made similar to swords /arrow heads /etc … how the blacksmiths used to do it – so that’s how the japs achieve such high accuracy and consistency |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? Mizuno has a great video on how they “forge” iron heads. It’s a simple stamping process that turns a bent bar of steel into the shape of an iron head, in one press |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cast vs Forged - your thoughts? Due to the nature of forging, is it more likely that the type of steel used will be “softer” than cast, hence the softer feel? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Cutting down clubs I was custom made some clubs when I was 7yrs. The tool a ladies set and cut them to length. Steel shaft – not graphites. They were OK. Grips were the original. Not sure how they fittted the hosel into the wider shaft though. No problems with flex. |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Moonah Links Open Course Bunkers down the middle of the fairway is a novelty … good play on the eyes … especially if you can’t judge distances well like myself. But the toughest I’ve played is 13th beach in the west. Some parts of the course feels like it’s carved out of the ground. The rough just grows into the fairways and it’s hard to distiguish it from the tee box. Once I ping it down the middle of the fairway from an elevated tee box (feels like u’r 50m up) ... when I got down the fairway… the ball coudln’t be found. |
