Topic: Golf Talk / Eastlake GC - Sydney

MikeZone

Would definitely recommend Eastlake as a course to join. A very under rated course IMO and great value for money. Clubhouse is a bit ordinary however if you are into your golf it is a great golf course.

And yes the bridge will make a big difference. Will not have to play the “Frogger” video game I used to love.

Also agree that Mona Vale and Long Reef are equally as good but logistically they are are on the opposite sides of Sydney so it really comes down to where you live.

I have heard that Eastlake are about to come onto the ISG tee times
with some great specials.

Why don’t we have an ISG day there.

Topic: Golf Equipment / nickent hybrids / utilities

Nickent always has a way of popping up in the forums … spam if you ask me…

I have to laugh at their statement #1 driver on tour – what a load of crock…. unless of course they mean the von nida tour where they pay everyone to use their clubs.

I think Ewan Porter uses them and his game has gone to mush…

Topic: Golf Talk / Newton vs Norman

I have to agree that Norman is so full of himself. Great player (was) however his arrogance has just made so many people tired of him.

IMO Newton is right… He does not say he did not like the guy he is just stating a fact. if you carry on like a twat you are going to end up with no friends.

Topic: Golf Talk / Discount Fees and Teetimes

Convenience would do it for me as well. Discounts would be a bonus.

What’s so hard about ring a club and making a booking.

Can’t do it after hours for a start. And sometimes you can’t get through early in the mornings because everyone is trying to at the same time.

Surely it has got to be easier for the club and the pro to get people booking on line.

Hey Jarrod07au… do you still ring and book your flights over the phone…..

Topic: Golf Talk / Golf Australia, did you know ?

I agree with you Whitednj

Many of the clubs need to take a serious look at themselves as to why they are not attracting new people to the game and are going broke. Lets face it, many of the clubs are run by committees that have no idea what they are doing. Who would be a club manager these days. Very few have any power as every little thing has to be run by the committees just so that they can get power fix.

The sooner clubs are privatised the sooner they will start making money and the game will grow.

The same argument is directed at the PGA by many their own members. What do they do for us? They take our fees every year and they do nothing. Any pro that says this is a budger and does not deserve to represent the PGA badge. It because of the PGA you have a right to earn a living teaching and run a business. So get off your ass you lazy pricks and stop blaming the governing bodies.

It is not the role of the GA to be bailing out the clubs. I personally think they are doing a very good job. They are certainly better than the old guard thats for sure. And as for CEO being on a good package, what do you expect to pay a guy like this. AFL boss is on 1mill plus.

Topic: Golf Talk / Pacific Harbour Membership?

I thought Pacific Harbour was not to bad. However when the wind picks up, which apparently always does because its location in, it makes for tough playing. To me it takes the enjoyment out of it.

If thats your thing though and love a challenge every time you play then go for it.

This course is not for me.

Topic: Golf Talk / GolfLink and GolfLink Mates

The Menace

My understanding is that Golf Australia have licensed the handicapping system out to a private company – Golf Link Partners – to represent on GA’s behalf.

I would have to agree with most of the posters here that Golf Link are past their used by date. In fact, I think they don’t do any favours for Golf Australia, PR wise or financially. Me thinks GA should look for new partners or expect higher standards from current partners.

Topic: Golf Equipment / Feedback on electric golf buggies

To anyone that is in the process of looking for an electric golf buggy to buy – a word of warning about the MGI brand. MGI have spent a considerable amount of time and money marketing their products in the last couple of years. Consequently you will see alot of players out there with MGI buggiesI.

Never seen them promote their products on ISG so they can’t be that good at marketing.
