Topic: Golf Talk / What club to join ? If gailes and ipswich are too expensive then do yourself a favour and join sandy gallop. cheap membership and the course (while average) is always on the improve, with a few hole redesigns not far off. karana downs is struggling a bit, i havent seen the course in a while (its probably ok cause the greenskeeper is good) but the place is just run really poorly unforunately. i am a member out at sandy gallop, mainly because i work there (well only occassionally now) and i must stress that the members out there are great down to earth people…but the bottom line is, if your joining sandy gallop its because its $25 a month on DD (although, i havent worked in about a month so don’t take my word for it). If I could afford, I would probably play gailes over ippy, although, that may well change when the redesign at ippy is complete. |

Reasonable…all new and current and genuine models arriving at once i assume… If you took 2 months of bidding/searching/researching you probably could have ebay’d the lot for $1600-$1800 but is it really worth it. |

Topic: Golf Talk / skye public par Watched your video and really enjoyed it…you’ve got some real creative skills there. Some of them camera shots in the vid were fantastic…others not so…but most of the time it was very impressive! Looks and sounds like your swinging the golf club ok as well. Keep working hard at it! |

Topic: Golf Talk / harrington I like him…don’t watch a lot of golf (no foxtel) but have always found padraig to be alright. He seems nice enough and just looks like a good guy, and his accent is funny. “I would like to TANK Greg Norman” |

Topic: Golf Talk / Driving distance Slappa gotta be joking right? I am not a really long hitter, but drove a 277m green wind assisted and come about 35-40 short into the wind on the 288m hole going back the other way. Hit both of them well. So that puts me a well hit drive somewhere around the 250 mark I guess. To be honest, dont hit them well all that often..probably about 50% of the time. So yeah, taking into account i am a physically fit 182cm, 83kg, 21 year old male i am not a very big hitter. Play with lots of people who can knock it past me, but only the real big guys leave me behind. edit: Dont know if they were longest drives or not, didnt really pay much attention to how far they went on the other holes. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test Its been a while for this thread…. Quite a while ago I bought a box of the expert 2 golf balls but really only use them new in competition rounds. Lately I have been playing quite a few comp rounds and as with all the other guys on here am happy to say I have been impressed. Ok, so so I play off 11 and the key areas I feel are driver distance, spin and feel with the putter, and I can’t fault the ball in any of these area’s. No problems with the distance off the driver. I can’t say that I notice it to be shorter then any other of the top line balls I have used. Lately I have been playing a lot pitch/punch type shots from the 40-80 meter range with wedge or nine iron (clubs I usually hit about 115 &125) where I land the ball just short of the green and let it run up to the hole. This ball is great for this type of shot, not too much spin, but enough so it takes a couple of bounces then rolls a just few meters. Feel of the putter is great and the labbelling on the ball is good for alignment. Great ball. Interestingly though, not many people I have played with know anyhting about the brand. I dont know how stong a market you have got in the Brisbane area, but I really think it would be great if more punters at least knew about the brand and the products. I love the fact that I am supporting an Australian company by playing vision, and the fact that your so understanding and helpful on this website is even more reason to play vision. Cheers Jarrod |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Distance Measuring Devices
Yeah, sorry about that, I remember reading the posts where you were asking about laser eye surgery…yeah…i am not necessarily saying you have to be a pro to use one of these things, but just that you have to be a very consistent ball striker. I know most of the club golfers I know wouldnt hit the ball consistently enough. Obviously, guys that practice more will get more benefit, and I know, when I play other courses I lose shots by using the ‘look at the green – pull a club – hit it’ method, but at my home course, this is all I need. Obviously there are benefits to these things, as you guys have said. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Distance Measuring Devices Mr C…you play the same course all the time right? Dont you ever just have a look at the green and know you can get there with a 8 iron for example? |

Topic: Golf Talk / Did Norman choke? Just a side note, apart from his golfing abilities, Greg Normans autobiography has many stories on how he fought with PGA officials for players rights and to expand the game (tournaments in a more countries, spreading the money, etc). |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titleist Driver Comparison. I dont know, I spanked it at a demo night so I bought one shortly after. Yeah, I hit my mates D2 with a stiff V2 shaft far better then my D1 with a stiff VS proto. In saying that, I still hit the D1 straight, its just not long and goes VERY high. I really want to try a 905R but will probably be looking at TM Burner TP (just cause reg burner is 1 deg closed dont like it going left) 8.5 with a 65g Shaft or might try a Nickent. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Distance Measuring Devices At the risk of being an ass, do any of you play good enough where knowing the exact distance really helps. Like who here consistently hits the ball the same distances. They just seem like a waste of money unless your playing on tour or soemthing and want to map out courses for yardage books before play starts, etc etc OR if your playing a different course every week. Also, who seriously paces out distaces in a run of the mill saturday comp. Personally, at my home track, I pretty much just know what club to hit on experience. At other clubs, just have a look at the markers then estimate how far away you are and hit it. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Did Norman choke? To win he would have had to go round in 70 right? On that course in those conditions, it would have been pretty good golf for someone in Normans position to do that. Yes, he didn’t have his best round, but no, I dont think it is necessary for people to continue with the ‘choke’ nonsense. I was really hoping he would get home, just to shred the tag, which so many stick on him. Fantastic effort by Norman, he still putted and chipped/pitched well, was just let down by his decision making and driving in my opinion. |
