Topic: Annual Membership Subs
why not look at joining a country course. Most of them hae country membership rates for people who live more than a certain distance from the club ( 100km say) and you only need to send them 5 cards from any course to get a handicap and then it is maintained either through golf link or ( if they are not on golf link) thru cards being sent back. From my experience of playing open days at sydney courses I have never been asked where i lived, only which course i was a member of. and i used to play some of them quite regularly… Just a thought |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs Ipswich is around $620 per year with no nonination fees. The front 9 holes have been sold and a new 9 is going in, paid by the developers. It is designed by Wayne Grady and should be available by November. It will have proper drainage, more water resources, a proper computer controlled sprinkler system with around 500 sprinklers and will have 80 bunkers (The whole course previously had approx. 30). The back nine is being remodelled as well. There will be temp holes in place for around 3 months and a new proshop is going in. The new course looks good and grass is growing now. All in all good value and only 45 minutes from Brisbane CBD |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs I reckon Bankstown GC is reasonable value – around $1800 – and consistently better condition than new brighton. No sure if you have to pay joining fee? |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs Quality courses in Sydney certainly are dear, however that is the market. I still think that the best value membership is New Brighton as it is a genuinely good course. But dying to hear more from members at Bonnie Doon as I have heard good reports, however it does appear pricey with the $8K joining fee… |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs Myself and my Dad have just joined Morisset Golf Club on the northern border of the Central Coast of NSW. We only play socially so have joined as social members. $270 a year and 18 holes costs $3 as opposed to $28 for normal social. Bargain |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs they have the largest membership base in Aus (i think dont quote me) they also have a great clubhouse and motel with all of the necessary evils for a successful club. Most people who come for a golfing weekend find it cheaper to join than pay green fees! |

Topic: joining a golf club in melbourne Woodlands??? Seems to have reasonable entry and annual fees and they actually put on their website that there is a ?3 month wait. Anyone played there?? May not be as ‘exclusive’ as RM KH or Metro, but looks a good course. |

Topic: joining a golf club in melbourne Depending on age even the more exclusive clubs are quite easy to get into… It is just a matter of knowing one person who will in turn introduce you to others who can nominate you. Good luck with the process! |

And you’ll pay $25-$28 on weekends not $65-$70 Brighton is a good course for the price. You get what you pay for. |

Probably stretching it to describe Eynesbury as northern suburbs but worth the trip either way.. half way between werribee and melton, you’ll play $45 for the pleasure.. send me a message if that doesn’t work for you & we can try & organise a game somewhere.. always on the lookout for a new course! |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs Wynnum in Brisbane $950 PA plus $700 nomination. Looking forward to it. How’s this, I was considering joining Pacific Golf Club in Brisbane and I turned up to play 18 holes in buggies with a few clients and my 10 year old son who was going to join us on the carts. Lady behind the counter in the pro shop asks how old Sam is, I reply 10 years. She says, no persons under 12 allowed on the course unless they are junior members – remember he wasn’t playing just watching. I said that is crazy, she replies – committee rules, due to (wait for it), INSURANCE COSTS. I said to her, that the club must be saving millions by excluding all those unworthy 8-12 year olds on the course, all the while allowing anyone between the ages of 12-112 to observe to their hearts content. So much for the Australian ideal of creating an environment of encouraging kids into our great sport. I then took my sobbing 10 year old home who had been looking forward to joining us for the last 3 days and returned. I also called our office administrator ( I am a senior manager in a major Australian Financial Institution) and requested that Pacific be removed from the shortlist of 3 courses we had penned down for our new Annual Golf Day which will have had a full ambrose field of about 70-80 players (we are now going to swell the coffers of the Robina Woods Course). To make matters worse, we had two old biddy/nazis harrassing us all afternoon regarding where we parked carts in relation to the tee’s, honestly, I could have impaled both of them to a tree, I was that cheesed off. I was also considering joining the club but have joined a Wynumm due to it’s rather friendlier policies, and we have secured a great course from all accounts in Robina for our client golf day. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. |

Topic: Annual Membership Subs I have worked out how much it will cost in the first year for a handicap through Riverside Oaks in Sydney…$615! That includes all the mandatory rounds which need to be played. Fair rip off, especially as it is a mile away from the city… I completely understand why it is difficult/expensive to obtain a handicap in NSW without being a fully fledged club member, however it does appear as though the clubs can pretty much charge whatever minimum they wish for membership, as a ‘dodgy’ membership at Riverside Oaks costs $615, thus to get a handicap you are better off joining a club near your domicile. |
