Topic: Golf Equipment / Callaway 1 driver head, two shafts

a lot of ppl i know have 2 or more drivers, and depending on how they are hitting on the day, and conditions on course, will pick between them.
if the start up price becomes more reasonable then i see ppl having the one driver head with different shafts for different conditions.

plus, changing shafts will no longer void manufacturers warranty on clubs.
been stung on that once already.

Topic: Golf Talk / Food at golf courses. shite.

i dont expect restaurant quality food at a golf course, but i would appreciate food i can choke down without repeating on me.
worse than bad food is no food, when your 7 holes in and ring the clubhouse to find out where the drinkcart is,only to be told its not running that day. Is it too hard for staff to let you know this before teeing off.
I find it annoying that some courses say the cart is not running due to low numbers on the course but still charge full price for the round when a running drinkscart is one of their advertised services.

oops….sorry bout the hijack

Topic: Golf Talk / Relief from Divots

I am a hacker and a chopper at the best of times, but i love playing even when i really suck.
i dont play comps….mainly to save better players having to put up with me, so i rarely “play for cattle stations”
So this gives me some leeway in how i play my game…. i play for fun, pure and simple.
i dont cheat or shave off strokes…but wouldnt play out of a repaired divot. This is more so im not creating further damage to a spot that is under repair.
WHY???? because while im still a hacker, i dont see why the course should suffer when im not playing for cattle stations just to comply with strict rules.
i hope that in doing things like this it helps the courses i play stay in better condition that if i followed rules to the letter and played from filled divots, choppy ground, bare patches trying to grow grass etc….
call me on it if u want, but i think there are more choppers out there for fun than people who will nit-pick rules just for a fun round of golf…....unless theres a slab riding on it

Topic: Golf Talk / Laser Vision Correction.

Had Lasik surgery about 7 years ago.
THE BEST DAMNED THING I EVER DID….
Had to wear clear protective goggles for the rest of the first day, then every night for 3 nights so i didnt rub/irritate the eyes while sleeping.
Could see clearer through the goggles than when wearing contacts, and was almost painless during recovery.
One warning though- you will be extremely light sensitive just after the surgery so make plans for someone to pick u up from where u are having the proceedure.
When i had mine done my sister picked me up but as we walked outside the building i coudnt see anything, it was just too too glarey/bright. and she kept walking not realising i wasnt following….lol
she had to come back and lead me by the hand….and no, couldnt wear sunnies because of the clear goggles…lol

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Why do the pros do this?

When putting wjy do the pros hold the club out vertically in front of their eyes? What exactly are they lining up.

I dont think they are lining up….. more like seeing what they should charge

Topic: Golf Equipment / .350 tip into a .335 head?

as above, can it be done ?
And more importantly, can it be done properly?
I have a taylormade r7 425 tp head that i want to put a .350 shaft in. The clubfitter says he should be able to do it but i guess im just nervous.

Hiya,
I’m also thinking of joining when my current membership at GCCC runs out.
Have played Cooly a few times, both West and river course and love it.
Very interested to hear from current members as well.

Topic: Golf Talk / How good are brush tees??!!

I find brush tee’s great at the driving range as once they are in the ground they rarely come out and need resetting…..saves chasing wooden or plastic tee’s after every hit.

Topic: Golf Equipment / acer mantara

I bought an Acer Mantara recently after hearing all the hype about square head drivers and how straight they hit. must say it did help with the power fade i had trouble with and it definatly got looks from the noise whenever i tee’d off. All up, not a bad club for the price, but if buying it to cure a slice then spend your money on a couple of lessons instead.
