Track your stats to identify weaknesses and then work on those.

As stated previously – short game! Up and downs and sand saves separate the 15 handicapper from a 10 handicapper.

You need to make sure that you have a club that will get you on the fairway off the tee.

Make sure you can par all 5s and 75% of the 3s. That will get you to 10-13 easily.

You don’t need to be taking out the driver for a Par 5. Think fairway or iron off the tee.

Thats very kind of you idgolfguy. I played the Lakes 18 off the plates last year, and went par, birdie, birdie, the last 3 holes! Too bad about a couple of doubles in the middle holes though, the fairway bunkers are miles out from the greens on the long par 4’s! – think I had 10 over for that round which wasnt bad for a first time.

Well let me know when u get a free sat/sun to do it ad roughly how much it is to pay comp, most weekends I’m good but mon-fri’s I’m busy being an enviro scientist, damn, wish I could be just an enviro golfer but my bills wont get paid for! :)

I’ll check with the club captain as to when and costs.

id, I agree for sure on Neddies, just adding what I knew to the mix – as Nedlands was mentioned earlier by Nuffie. Nedlands also have a ludicrous nominations fee for full membership, round two grand or something (nomination fees are the biggest crock I have ever heard of…).

The Vines nomination is transferrable. There’s a few who lease their memberships.When I get sick of the Vines for a while, I lease mine for a year a join another club when they have a ‘sale’.

I sometimes take my kids along – they caddie for me. I got a cheap electric buggy for when they come. I get them involved in learning golf etiquette and club selection, putting etc.

If they’ve done a good job they get a tip from me. THey’ve always done a good job. :)

Like most laws and rules – a matter of interpretation. The rules change in time due to evolution, market forces etc.

The human mind has trouble with the word “don’t”. Ask any parent – best way to get a teenager to do something is tell them “don’t……”

Seriously, listen to any good caddie or sport psychologist and they’ll say “hit it down the middle” not “don’t slice it”. The mind doesn’t “hear” don’t – it just hears slice it or put it into the hazard etc.

As a pro once said to me ” I say to my caddies – Keep up, shut up and don’t say don’t!!!”

Good thing golf is such a relaxing pastime!

I agree – ‘don’t’ is usually the last thought which is what your mind latches onto.

Always positive thoughts.

eg. ‘Don’t hit left into the water’ – just before you swing will make you swing left.

I didn’t mind Nedlands (I won my match), when I played Pennants there – however, I feel cheated if I only have 9 holes to choose from.

Don’t misunderstand me – the course is good but membership for a 9 hole course seems high at $600 for 4 months.

Good post Dave_1. It is all perspective. I try to dwell on the positives as much as I can. On the weekend, I hit 53 on the front and came back with a 40 on the back.

I call that a good round. We golfers are eternal optimists – an indication of the human spirit. If we weren’t, the human race would have died out a long time ago.

1000ccs – that’s a lot of alcohol that driver can hold. Should help with lag and weigth transfer.
