Topic: Golf Equipment / How fit are you? My fitness is off 27+, even though my handicap is 10! My back is under enormous amounts of stress as I have no core strength etc. Due to this I am lucky if I can play once a fortnight. I am 37 and I literally hobble off the course after 18 holes and take 2 weeks to recover! I am about to embark on an exercise program so I can play/practice more and give myself an opportunity to play off single figures! :) |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titleist Driver Comparison. Don’t use either Justin, however a guy I know, who is off 5 used to hit the 905R a mile, and straight. Changed over to a D2 and lost about 30 metres. I keep telling him to go back to the 905R but he wants to play with the current model only. :) |

Topic: Golf Talk / Greg Norman got me started playing golf...how about you? Totally agree l4g, the Shark took golf all around the world to a new level when I was a teenager. I started playing because of him. I remember trying to follow him around at the Masters at Huntingdale when he was in his prime – the crowds were unbelievable. He always made things happen on the golf course – holing out from 100m or sinking a massive putt. Being the only player to reach the par 5 14th at Huntingdale, hitting driver off the deck for his second! He has had a lot of bad luck in majors in the US and I do feel sorry for him that he hasn’t won one over there. He has definitely been one of Australia’s greats of all time, just wish he would come back here to live! I think the ad he was in was for ‘Swan premium lager’ – Alan Bond’s company. :) |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Ball Advice
Hi Chucksta, I was using a Pro V1x and getting the same result as you with wedges. Used the HX for a while, nice ball and not so much spin, but still too much. I discovered the Nike One Black which is really long and spins less than the HX. These are great and really suit my game. I have also tried the Vision expert which are really long and off the wedges they just drop and stop – no spinning off the green. I really can’t split the Nike One Black and the Vision Expert, they are both awesome! Good luck :) |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Ball advice needed I used to play HX Tours, great ball but a little too pricey! I tried a Nike One+Black recently and I am getting just as much distance and control as the Hx Tour – the Nike is a lower spin ball which suits me. I got a dozen AAA rated Nike+Black from Squizzy’s Balls recently for $30 delivered and they are like new. If buying new they are not much cheaper than the HX Tour. Good luck :) PS Give Vision balls a try, I found the ‘x-pert’ to be a long ball! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Who is or who have you been coached by? When I was 14 I had my first lesson with the great Norman Von Nida when he was at Kooralbyn. A couple of years ago I had one with Steven Bann at MGA and recently had one with Stuart Leong from the PGA of Australia at Sandhurst. All were great in different ways – I’m going back to Stuart as I live close to where he teaches, he has an easy to understand teaching style and he’s not as expensive as Steven Bann. :) |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Most fun golf course? Olinda golf course at the top of the Dandenongs. Even though you are stuffed by the end of the round, it’s always relaxed – wear almost anything you want, have a drink etc. Awesome views and a totally unique golf course and fun experience! :) |

Topic: Rules of Golf / Preferred Lies on the fairway Does the rule of preferred lies on the fairway relate to the fairway on the hole you are actually playing or all fairways. EG If I tee off and my ball slices two fairways across – am I entitled to a preferred lie on that particular fairway? |

Tried one in my R7 about 12 months ago – lost about 20 metres on drives, so went back to the standard shaft – V2 is not for me! :) |

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Hard courses in VIC I didn’t ask if you were in the USA, I asked if you were American (zipcode) and were in Victoria? I’ve already guessed the courses rated in the top 15 in Australia and you keep telling me to keep guessing so I will take it that you are not a member at a ‘top 15 Australia rated course’ as you stated you were in the previous thread. I don’t understand why you keep responding to the old threads I dig up but in the same sentence you have your pathetic little dig at me for doing so. Keep doing it though if it makes you feel better! It must be because I have hit a nerve with the issue I raised previously. :) If you make a statement like you did then you need to be able to back it up, which you obviously aren’t prepared to do! In your words ‘Group hug for you SJGC’ :) |
