Topic: Golf Talk / Grady wins back to back at Handa Open Without wanting to regenerate all that crap earlier on in this post re BBs, I’ve noticed the QLD PGA Champs (a previous Von Nida event) has been replaced with a seniors event this weekend at Emerald Lakes on the Gold Coast – “Australian Masters Invitational”! I think that is correct. Perhaps those old folk have the extra advantage and know how to put an event on after all, and the “younger guys” should take some lessons in tournament promotion. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Grady wins back to back at Handa Open
Originally I was a critic of the NSW Open moving out of Sydney. I took the trip from Melbourne and went for the weekend at The Vintage and had a ball. There’s entertainment, great golf and played over a top track It was an event that was run well and well supported. I’m making the trip again for sure. The so-called “main Sydney” courses did not want the event – ultimately it’s become their loss! On this issue of media coverage – the coverage of the Newspapers is over rated. Those garbage fillers are the past – the web is the way and this site for the last few years has provided excellent coverage of some Von Nida events – keep it up guys! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Golf Australia Magazine is my friend Consider where that mag is positioned as well as where that organisation currently is..I would not be gloating. I don’t even read that stuff on a certain site as it’s mainly a re-hash of other sources – usually from this site . Must be one of the easiest jobs going around working there in editorial at that organisation! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Danny Lee: The New World Number One Golfur66 I played in the Lake Macquarie Am early on the final day and followed Danny around in the afternoon. The guy was hitting all his irons as sweet as. I reckon it’s Danny iron play that’s his best aspect. He can hit it stiff all day from 150 yards. BTW that’s not taking anything away from his driving. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Danny Lee: The New World Number One
Since when do we go off the R&A world ranking list. Danny Lee made the top spot on the Scratchplayers ranking which in itself is harder. The R&A is a bit like the GA ranking system for Aussies – up the shit. I agree however with the name change. |

Topic: Golf Talk / McNamee Dumped by Melbourne FC R..the marvels of that “probation period”...thanks Johnny Howard… Then again Rudd is a dud as he has not done anything about it either Good to see the elite like McNamee are not exempt from a good and unfair sacking! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Newton vs Norman The one thing about Newton is he is a realist. Norman, unfortunately has lost touch with reality….money does that! Newton’s comments are stimulating and in a way, very valid. I like the way he is forthright with his opinion, in a sport that is often very conservative. Norman was a great player and did a lot for our game in Aust and was a fantastic ambassador (provided there was money to be made). Credit has to be given to him for the next generation of golfers that followed in his foot steps, who otherwise may have picked up a football. But Norman lately has behaved like a pratt…he should take a look at the outside world and then look at himself in the mirror….who cares about some baby-boomer getting married again and spending on the wedding the same as some third-world country’s GDP in one year. money does that! I’m with Newton. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Golf Australia announces CEO resignation Well that’s because of their legacy, we just all have to work unreal hours to pay the mortgage and there is little left for spare time, let alone golf. Golf, or recreational activities, was for the previous generation and those BBs made sure that they would stuff it up for the next wave of generations through their greed.. well done mum and dad! have to work weekends at single time thanks to you, simply to put petrol in the car and make ends meat. sorry..I got it wrong, it’s know as flexibility in the workplace through the legacy of Howard’s ‘WorkChoices’ , so your ‘shares’ – ‘Dixon Qantas style’, do not loose value. Shareholder priority first and stuff the workers (or your children). Go the Super funds, shareholders and cheap scab labor. Great! My golf and the sport suffers in the interim. |

Topic: Golf Talk / CEO Hallam to leave Golf Australia
Shit, where do you want me to start! This topic could be a whole new thread on this forum. Ever read the book “Why Wont You Just F;;;; O;; The author, who left Australia for England feed up with BBs, made a number of debatable points about their impact on the generations following. It’s a new world out there and there are many of the ‘BB’ generation that cannot face that, as they continue to linger well past their ‘use-by’ date, especially in corporate life! Sure there are some willing to move with the times, provided when it only suits them, and it’s usually then on their own terms. BTW…thanks also for the lowest levels of home affordability on record and stuffing up the environment, which we all now have to pay for. What do we tell our kids now..”Your grandparents just did not give a shit!” Yes, I soon could also be an expatriate, adding to the ever growing number who leave for better opportunities elsewhere. Hope your super is secured. |

Topic: Golf Talk / CEO Hallam to leave Golf Australia TH has some great ideas and I also eventually felt what he was doing was the right direction. For a guy’s contract to be cut short, tends to suggest premature decision making if it was GA’s Board that made the decision. Backward move by GA in my books, if that was the case! We await the announcement of his replacement with bated breath .. Lets hope it’s not some old baby boomer that’s still stuck in the Norman past era like some commentators, that have continually had a hack at the top man of GA for the past three years! If TH went on his own accord, job well done and appreciated. |
