Faith No More - Angel Dust
Lou Reed - New York
Duran Duran - Rio
Veruca Salt - Eight Arms to Hold You
Pink Floyd - Animals

Personally I thought INXS jumped the shark with Kick. And agree with the Dire Straits comment, they get me station surfing everytime. Thank God for that switch on the steering wheel.

Optus does not allow wan dynamic ip address anyways, i worked for them for a short time and they can sure be bastards about it...you just have to let your ip on the pool and go retrieve another one, gotta turn of modem off...

Regardless he hasnt answered back so his problem must be fixed or he just doesnt care no more..

Thanks Andrew and Connico. The problem isn't fixed, and I've basically tried everything but turn everything off for 24 hours in the hope it will get reassigned. The most I could last was about 10. smile.gif I just want a more dynamic IP address for the purposes of protecting my identity rather than security purposes. Let's just say there are some overzealous forum moderators out there (not here of course). I'm getting the impression the IP address is basically stuck in the MAC address (device, whatever it is).

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Robe

QUOTE: ttitheridge @ Jan 17 2006, 06:46 PM

Last week.
Kingston SE review later this week smile.gif

I disagree. Sure, if you were up at Cape Jaffa between the two towns, you'd play Kingston because it is better than Robe. Or if you are heading past both towns and want to play golf in one of them you'd choose Kingston. But if you are in Robe and aren't otherwise heading north and can justify the 45 min drive to Kingston, then you'd instead go a little further in the opposite direction and play Millicent which is one of this nation's best regional courses.

Looking forward to the Kingston SE review. I was there last about 5 years ago and was unable to play Robe as the non dunes holes were underwater. So I drove around to Kingston SE and found the course setup as if it was ready for a Pro Am and nobody on the course. Turned out the curator was a refugee from The Grange or Kooyonga, making them one of those lucky country tracks to have top notch care. It was very pleasant, although no doubt flattered by the condition. The curator was a guy by the name of Mark Angel (from memory), and he collected scorecards and spent his holidays driving around the country talking to other curators. If he is no longer there then I could imagine it struggling.

Don't remember it being 45 minutes from Robe though, for most of the year you could comfortably sit on 160kmh most of the way to Adelaide. You must have gotten stuck behind a lot of caravans.

I haven't had time for the RM drama to sink in yet, as I only saw it on here last night or this morning.

Put it this way: When watching the stuff about him on the news, my predominant and most profound thought over everything else is that his school friend Bronwyn Lew would be a fair pound. And that Katie Ng would be much less suitable, but an acceptable third party if she asked nicely.

Some nice work there ttitheridge. How are they going at RM? laugh.gif

Robe is a nice course for an evening walk, but if you are staying there play at Kingston SE.

but I loved the older tracks like Tralee. Some of the new stuff lacks the design characteristics and is overun by dumb Yanks with heaps of cash eg Old Head.

Liz, how old do you reckon Tralee is?

Hi Connico, I don't have a router.

And trust me, there are absolutely no advantages to having a fixed IP address.

Rookie, don't let these clowns get you down. For every good card I have that doesn't get handicapped I have 10 bad ones that aren't done. It all balances out.

There seems to be a lot of smart blokes on here so if anyone can assist with ideas for changing my IP address it would be much appreciated. I'm with Optusnet cable and have been stuck with the same IP address for months. My dealings so far with Optusnet have yielded only the following

"The OptusNet cable network is dynamic though we generally will only change
your IP when moving you to different network segments for maintenance
reasons.

We cannot change your IP address upon request. Your IP is assigned based on
the MAC address of the device the modem is connected to. If you are using
an ethernet connection and it's MAC address changes you will be issued a
different IP address after power cycling the cable modem."

canetoad,
did you really join in 2002 and only now make your fourth post?

I would have chosen the canetoad username myself if only I'd had more imagination!

It took me 3 years to remember the password. You can have canetoad1 if you like. biggrin.gif

Topic: Your Favourite Golf Courses / Mike Clayton to redesign Lake Karrinyup

QUOTE: ricco @ Jan 4 2006, 04:45 PM

You can add Mike Clayton to that list.

That is sort of true. The 8th at Port Fairy certainly looked out of place and one gets a sense of dejavu approaching the 2nd at Sorrento. Although no doubt he would take the line that sandbelt style bunkering is the best. It certainly looks better than that Marsh stuff.

The drive could be better - bunkers down the right would make strategic sense but would you put them there if it was a par four - which at 440 meters - is what it is.

There are bunkers down the right, you just don't tend to notice them because they are out of play like most of the fairway bunkers at RM these days.

James
JJ has a point, what holes do you object too at Moonah Links? You are always rabbiting on about how crap the place is, but apart from feeling uncomfortable with the level of service (psychological trauma as a result of the loss of the butler and maids after 1987 stockmarket crash perhaps biggrin.gif ), you have never actually detailed what exactly is so objectionable about the course. It almost sounds as though you have never played it.

James, what could possibly be so bad about what you derisively label "a country-club-for-a-day". As a Queenslander, I can tell you we have plenty of them up here, and generally they are fantastic. They are perfect for the person who is too busy to play regularly, but doesn't want to go somewhere crap or be paying high annual fees. Some of the courses are sensational, just look at Brookwater, The Glades, Hope Island and Twin Waters. Sometimes it is worth spending a little more to treat yourself, and if you don't want to spend the money, then it is your loss. You Victorian posters seem to get caught up in the world of the illustrious sandbelt, which is overrated anyhow, and forget there is a big wide land of great courses available to all.
