CliffManley: “I have shirts that are 12 years old, look like I bought them yesterday… and I wear them every week at least once.”

Cliff get a grip. There is no way in the wide world of sports that a shirt that has been worn 624 times and washed at least 624 times looks like it did when you bought it !

No, seriously, it doesn’t.

A 12 year old shirt – man up, throw it out and get some new clobber. My 12 year old shirts (a) all look like crap and (b) all have out-of-date cuts and styling so that’s why they are gardening shirts.

How can triple J’s occasional correspondent Tom the Chippie turn into such a complete prat in 5 short years?

I concur. You used to be cool Tom!

Now he’s just a twat.

He might be a twat but we all wish we had a piece of this ….

I read somewhere that Honma once made a set of gold clubs.

Forget S-Yard – I play “S-house” clubs. They’re the best.

“Isn’t too bad” ??

That’s incredibly cheap – even at twice that price.

When I sent clubs interstate I was only too happy to drive the 35 mins to the BusFreight depot in Melb’s northern suburbs …. you can do it too, if you live in a capital city.

Topic: Sports Talk / Wallabies vs. All Blacks

SJGC,

The ‘try’ comes down to two things.
1. What and how did the referee ask the TV ref?; and
2. How did the TV ref answer him.

I missed the last bit live, but have spoken to my old man about it and he told me about it. Sounds like neither party really thought about what was going on.

Let’s just hope that one extra comp point doesn’t come back to haunt us.

I would hope that the ref asked “Did he legally ground the ball?” – either way the tv ref should have told Lawrence that Nonu dropped it …..

Kiwi I don’t want to sound like I’m flogging the proverbial dead horse here (and I am the first to admit that the AB’s killed us and fully deserved to win) but due to the fact that their bonus point for scoring the 4th try has taken the AB’s to the top of the table and could have a major bearing on the tournament, should the try have been awarded just because of “benefit of the doubt” ? Where is “benefit of the doubt” in the laws ? Isn’t the tv ref there to get rid of “doubt” as far as possible ?

Rant over.

Looking forward to the next game !

Great work by the AB’s – they were fired up from last week.

Not a bad loss for the Wallabies to have at this stage – 6 in a row would have had them believing all the media bullshit about them being back to their best. Still a long way to go. Now we will see if Robbie Deans is worth his salt.

Although we got a hiding, and it felt like we were watching the bad old days of the Ab’s walking all over us, there was still some good points – (1) Our try was magic, a great backline move, the only one for the whole night. It shows our backs are really good. (2) The AB’s don’t really have that good a backline, esp from set piece moves. (3) Our lineout will not have another shocker for a long time.

That “try” by Nonu on the final whistle was the worst tv ref decision I have seen for a while – no way did he get downward pressure on the ball.

I get the feeling that we have a lot of great test matches ahead of us ….. please pray that the ELV’s get up and those numbskulls in the UK get rolled.

Vic is a great course and lovely clubhouse but not sure about dropping $700 for one game of golf. If you are flying to Melbourne then why not contact the top clubs and line up a few games.

Topic: The Lounge / Chinese restaurant joke

A couple go for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and order the ‘ChickenSurprise.’ The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot.

Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly, and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down.

‘Good grief, did you see that?’ she asks her husband.

He hasn’t, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.

Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening and demands an explanation.

‘Prease, sir,’ says the waiter, ‘what you order?’

The husband replies, ‘Chicken Surprise.’

‘Ah… so solly,’ says the waiter, ‘by mistake I bling you Peeking Duck

What does “noted in the HOF” mean Ditty ?

The New Zealanders are drying in their beer about Sitiveni not being awarded a penalty try (I thought it was a penalty try) BUT (a) Ellis dropped the ball over the line when he scored his try and (b) they still wouldn’t have won.

Topic: The Lounge / Kevin Rudd joke

Little Johnny is at it again.

Kevin Rudd was visiting a primary school in Tasmania.

One class was in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked Mr. Rudd if he would like to lead the discussion on the word ‘tragedy’.

So the illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a ‘tragedy’.

A little boy stood up and offered: ‘If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a ‘tragedy’.

‘No,’ said Rudd ‘that would be an accident.’

A little girl raised her hand: ‘If a school bus carrying fifty children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy’.

‘I’m afraid not,’ explained Mr. Rudd ‘that’s what we would call great loss’.

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Rudd searched the room. ‘Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?’

Finally, at the back of the room, little Johnny raised his hand.

In a quiet voice he said: ‘If a plane carrying you and Mrs. Rudd was struck by a ‘friendly fire’
missile & blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy.’

‘Fantastic!’ exclaimed Rudd . ‘That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?’

‘Well,’ says little Johnny ‘it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss and it probably wouldn’t be a f*cking accident either!’

Topic: Sports Talk / Sonny Bill Williams! A dog?

Well, as a long time Union supporter who watched helplessly while League decimated our player ranks with obscene offers of money year after year after year – all I can say is ….. HOW DOES IT FEEL ?

Suck it up League fans.

Losing a player to the mighty dollar … how does it feel ?

Not gloating …. I just have zero sympathy for you. You did it for years and now the boot is on the other foot.

So much for Gallop’s hilarious statement a fortnight ago that League is the premier code because League develops the players before they go to Union. Haw haw haw ! You must be the premier code if they are leaving. Yeah right.

How does it feel. I know – it feels sh1t. Well, Union had that for 80 years. Now its your turn.
