Topic: iseekgolf Golf Days / Maryborough golf day Brownman played well for the first 10 or 11 holes, but after being out early fighting fires to keep our country folk safe, he got a little tired and his game suffered a little. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Golf Ball survey - sort of!!! It’s been awhile, but I found some time to go to my favourite “fishing” hole to get some new balls for my shag bag. I was in need of some replacements. This is what happens to my practice balls….. Our little Staffy/terrier cross likes to “help” me practice in the paddock by “collecting” the balls as I hit them. As soon as I hit another one, the first one is discarded and she chases after the next, chewing on it until I hit the next one!!!! So, to the results of my latest “fishing” trip….. I collected a total of 6balls!!!!!!!!!!!!Yep, thats correct…six lousy balls….WTF!!!!! The water was way down…and I mean way down. The most I have ever seen it. They have even removed the bullrushes from the far side of the bank near the green, and along the right hand side of the fairway along the lake. Even if you were to come up short of the green on your carry over the water, you will only land on the far side of the bank with no trouble in your way. They have even started to put a “beach” on the far side, with a “road” of sand leading down to the water! I much prefered it when the rushes were there, made for a more accurate shot to the green. There were; Titleist x2 (DT Solo, NXT Tour Yellow None of them had the greenish tinge on them, which means they had not been in the water very long. So the lake has either been “dragged” clean, or the hackers have improved their game by reading Brad Hughes’ instructions in his latest thread! The only interesting thing about the balls is the Bridgie is a recycled ball from Links Choice, and the TourStage is not one usually seen in Oz, as it is a Japanese Domestic Market ball. Bridgestone being the brand outside of Japan, and Tourstage for the JDM. |

Topic: Golf Instruction / Bradley Hughes Golf Talk- Brad, Life is full of coincidences…..recently I completed reading Ben Hogan’s Authorised biography, then decided to get his Modern Fundamentals of Golf book. From what I am reading, you base some of your teaching on Hogan’s principles, as well as other components you have gleaned from your vast experience. I started reading Hogans Modern Fundamentals last week and have been practising the grip and the stance/posture (left foot turned slightly outwards). I even keep my right thumb and forefinger off the grip, as this is not the first time I have read about that in a golf book. I have been hitting 30-40 balls at a time out on my “practice range” with 9,PW,50* aiming at my “green”. Just by copying Hogans grip and stance, I have definitely noticed an improvement in directional control. I am know working on the proper ball position for me, as Hogan says he used to have his ball a half inch to an inch inside his left heel. I look forward to reading more from you on here, as well as on your web site and the others you post on. Bully |
