Topic: Golf Equipment / what percentage of tour pros use a Titleist ball? What are these “facts” you are enlightening us with? That most pro’s use Pro V1’s proves what exactly to the average handicap golfer? – that Titleist make the best golf balls. NXT’s and DT’s included What are these “facts” you are enlightening us with? That most pro’s use Pro V1’s proves what exactly to the average handicap golfer? – not misguided people can spend their money on whatever they like. All I try and do is give the readers of these posts some good factual information rather than some of the other stuff that gets written here. You will have noticed if you have been through my posts some of that info on fitting etc Perhaps while you are giving us the facts you could update us on the legal action between Titleist and Bridgestone regarding the formers alleged ripping off of designs for the ProV from the latter. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / what percentage of tour pros use a Titleist ball? Gents, I am not denying I love the brand. Why wouldn’t you? There is nothing wrong with being a fan of the best. Like a lot of us on this site I spend a lot of time researching my hobby and know quite a bit about the number 1 brand and company in golf. Acushnet have held this title for a long time so anyone in business would be trying to work out their formula and why it works so well. Hence, my interest. The post was intended to find out how many of those who visit this site are actually aware of some of the facts out there. Let’s face it there is a lot of marketing crap out there. As for working for them I would love to. You would think it would be as easy as selling Coke but then you read some of the comments that golfers make on this site and it makes you wonder. It is a pity I am no salesman. |

I think you’ll find the driver, fway and hybrid are now a liitle cheaper. May leave enough room in the budget for a Scotty Cameron. Sweet |

Topic: Golf Equipment / new set of sticks brissyjoe, I think you said you were at the demo day at vic park last month. Go there and get fitted out. Lots of good brands out there but Titleist is right up there with the best especially their new irons. Must be great to be able to fulfill a childhood dream as well |

Topic: Golf Talk / Playing in Pro-Ams
I think it is terrible if a guy who hasn’t broken 80 all year continues to get starts when a young up and coming pro may misses out. What about giving the young guys a go who may shoot 80 one day but 68 the next. This guy is obviously struggling if he hasn’t broken 80 for the year anywhere. That is playing to an 8 handicap at best as some of the country courses would have pars of less than 72. This is not to mention the poor amateurs who pay good money often in the hope of playing with a good golfer. |

Topic: Golf Talk / Norman: In Two Minds at British Open
he shot 40 on the back nine before Tway holed the trap shot. Not many people remember that. Don’t get me wrong I am a huge Norman fan but he did struggle to get the job done in the Majors. The thing I struggle with is the number of one time major winners that beat him to win their one and only major – what a sad list it is 1. Tway 1986 PGA It is a sad list, Norman is arguably the best ball striker to ever play the game and look at the guys he ran second to, it just doesn’t seem fair. Still I’m sure he could shout us a drink if he wanted to |

Topic: Golf Equipment / What bounce is ideal for your Sand Wedge and Lob wedge? depends entirely on how you play and where you play some people chop down on it and take big divots – more bounce is better for them also if you play a course with lots of sand in the bunkers and thick rough go for more bounce others tend to clip the ball off the turf or play courses where there is little or no sand in the bunkers and hard firm fairways, these players should use less bounce some players have a sand wedge with lots of bounce and then a lob with not a lot – hence trying to achieve the best of both worlds as many courses have inconsistent sand levels in their bunkers players that play a variety of courses ( ie tour pros etc ) have multiple wedge ( bounce and loft ) options that change depending on where they play and how many wedges they have room for in their bag other things to think about are sole width, camber, lie angle ( which can actually change from your irons as you play different types of shots with your wedges ) and whether you need the extra spin provided by spin milled or not My advice is to go and see a quality fitter who can discuss the above with you and work out the best fit for you. You will also need a brand of wedge that has multiple options |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Titleist's new driver the 909 series which I believe will be released later this year has been played by the winner in the US the last two weeks. Titleist always test their products on tour before releasing for sale and it seems the testing is going pretty well. The driver was first seen by the pros at the US Open and I believe there are now over 20 drivers in use each week including one in the bag if JIM FURYK Srixon’s number 1 guy. I look forward to seeing these drivers in the flesh. |
