I’m here still, just getting used to the “upgrade”.

Topic: ISG Feedback / New ISG Site

Fuck me!

I last looked at this place a week ago, just before I went to the MCG to watch the Tigers bend over and take the red hot poker up the Cadbury from the Bombers, and there was a message telling me there was a new improved ISG coming soon.

I jetted off to the sunshine state the next morning with anticipation of what the new site will look like when I get back.

Well, after leaving a nice mild 20 degree early evening, 3 hours ago I jetted into 7 degree weather, hear that the Tigers have drawn with the Lions, and I still feel like I have a big pair of earplugs in my ears and my head is full of cotton wool.

I figured getting here and seeing the fantastic new upgrade would take my mind off of things.

I now have a headache to go with it.

I’m not going to go bagging admin, because over my last few weeks of work (before my holiday), I’ve come to see just how much of a turd of a job it is taking all the data from an old system to new one.

I’ve read through this whole thread and am wondering just how bad this place was a few days ago when the forum was brought back up???

After my first hour on here I have a couple of questions, some of which have been asked and not answered.

1. Are we going to be able to see who has created a thread when we see the list of threads in a forum? If not, why not? This feature is an absolute necessity!

2. I’ve seen a few URL’s posted, but they don’t work as links. Is it possible to do this still?

3. Can I view my profile, change my forum settings etc?

4. What’s going on with the fucking swear filter?

5. As Tithers has noted, are we going to be able to quote more than one post in a reply? And can we see in the quote, who actually made the quote?

6. My head hurts, can you do anything about that?

That’s it for my first post on the new “improved” ISG.

I hope the improved functionality becomes apparent in the near future.

Cheers.

Scott.

Topic: Sports Talk / English Premier League is Back

Gents,

Over the last year, I've become increasingly interested in the round ball game due to the success of the Socceroos.

Next season, I'd like to follow the EPL, and the other English and/or European competitions that an EPL team might compete in.

I have only one problem (in addition to not having Pay-TV). I don't have a side to follow.

I've found it difficult due to the ease and frequency of which players can/do change teams, or even leagues.

Please, over the next few months before the season starts, help me decide on which team I should follow.

Keep in mind that I'm a Richmond supporter, and that I couldn't possibly take any more consistent mediocrity from a football team. So it might have to be a front-runner, or at least a potential front-runner for next season.

Cheers,

Scott.

Unfortunately I got reprimanded at Heidelberg GC for bringing him just to walk with me while I played, apparently I put their liability insurance at risk just by bringing him on the course grounds!

Were they afraid he'd trip and fall into on one of the gigantic cracks in the fairways?

McKernan got suspended for digging the knees into John Barnes' back after a mark.

I think he missed out on the Rising Star for a trip.

When he retired, Sam Newman presented him with an empty frame on the footy show. It had a spot for the Rising Star award he didn't get, and one for the Brownlow he missed out on. Might have been something else in there as well.

A 'touch' less?

That's like saying that <insert any team oriented player in the league's name here> is 'a touch less' goal hungry than Scott Lucas.

Upandown23,

thats what I was referring to. He wasn't really robbed because the suspension was deserved, just a little poorly timed.

Sorry Carl,

I thought you were referring to the judge's run down of affairs in 96 when Hird won with Voss, implying that Grant was ineligible then and didn't deserve to win anyway.

Sounds logical, except the part about e-mailing a Collingwood supporter asking said supporter to give ammunition bagging their brightest star, yes - I think thats where you went wrong tongue.gif

Carl, you're a dill.

I asked the Collingwood supporter because they've heard all the arguments from other supporters about why HS isn't as good as people say.

I was looking for a couple of these reasons to wind up my target.

Grant belted someone, so it was kind of fair enough. For someone with a pretty clean record he picked the wrong year to get rubbed out.

Grant actually polled more votes than Robert Harvey in 97 or 98, can't remember which year, but got rubbed out for belting Nick Holland.

Don't know if he was suspended in 96 though.

PS: did you really e-mail someone asking them for advice about what to say in an argument? (see above if this is the case...)

Just a bit of friendly stirring with Moe.

Yes I did send an e-mail asking for a few reasons someone might use to argue that Heath Shaw wouldn't win a Brownlow. I was trying to stir someone up for a bit of fun, and I honestly know stuff all about the kid so I asked for some help.

I thought your line was something along the lines of, he won't win the Brownlow because he plays for Collingwood, same reason he didn't win the rising star.

Will happily retract that if I'm wrong when I check the e-mail in the morning.

Just thought I'd follow up on this one.

The info I can arm you with about his game that suggest he won't win a Brownlow is that he plays for Collingwood and for the same reason he didn't win the rising star when he should have, people don't like Collingwood winning things.

The line about him playing for Collingwood, was the reason he didn't win rising star, not Brownlow.

No media get a vote on the brownlow smile.gif

Never said you weren't still the king. Just happy to notch one up against you. I expect nothing more than being rolled by you or someone else in the finals.

That e-mail - is that my reply to the one you sent me asking advice for what to say about Heath Shaw in your little argument with Understudy?

Yep, same one.

Lucky Understudy didn't take my bait, otherwise I would have had to roll out the old "He won't win a Brownlow because he plays for Collingwood" line that you gave me.

QUOTE: Moe @ May 18 2007, 08:22 PM

just traded Neitz in for Hughes to avoid a zero pointer with only 10 seconds on the clock, then realised he was on the bench and didn't automatically become an emergency, so it was all in vain!

bugge, I have no hope against Uppy, he's basically copied my side and my fringe blokes are all out sad.gif

I tuned in with 15 minutes to go in the third quarter and from what I saw from then on, I couldn't believe the Dogs were 4 goals down when I tuned in.

From where I saw, it got kick started by a goal from Hahn after Collingwood copped a shocking umpiring decision (Presti caught holding Hahn without the ball, even though he threw it). Then the Dogs just kept piling on the goals.

Was fantastic to watch the pressure they put on the Pies and then their classy use of the ball. I hope they can continue to grow their confidence and play good attacking football like that, because it was good to watch.

Good to see Aker play a part in that big 3rd quarter too.
