hey jack….it was with in 1-2 m on the 150 m and 100m metre poles.. just out on some of the tees .. though old locals say some of the signs were there before the new plates??

good enough guessing for me.. .. i’m a decent distance player really only want it when i’m a fairway away or behind trees.. new courses etc ….. if only hit the ball to 1-4 m every time on a guesstimate that would be great .. then i would be killing tiger on tour and could afford my own satellite and GPS network.. lol

mr B,
i have used it twice now, first time i only had 5 holes with the co ordinates in. my local was not already done.. – so you just get on their site and put all the waypoints in for each hole, on a google map – now that takes a little time.
it seemed to work well but some ( 2 or three) distances were a little different to the card / white markers .. but i suspect that the club used wheels to measure over the ground .. as it was out on the hilly holes .. only 4 m at most.
i have not used any similar product other than the ones in hire carts.. so i cant compare
i got the hang of it after 2 holes, i only used the GPS positioning , not the scoring features.

but it did give me confidence on club selection when i was on the wrong fairway or hitting over trees. would be a real help on new courses. i think its $70 to buy it so i say thats fair value

Have a solid read on the specs of the Skycaddie. Doesn’t record stats etc. Seems fairly basic to be honest.

I had a thread earlier on another software for gps phone. Its advertised in the Pacific Golfer. It may well be worth considering but haven’t got a GPS phone yet to try it out on.

yeah i’m trialing that wegolf phone gps thing.. plotted my home course last night on their site uses google maps .. seems like a good system.. will try it out this weekend and let you know

Topic: Golf Talk / da da da da sh@^k attack

not sure what it was … i had really only heard about shanks before .

went out again last night and hit the ball pure – 3 over for 9….. no birds just boring decent golf

videoed my swing in the office today… been mucking around with it all arvo on slow mo…... no OTT (today) but f&^%k knows what was happening saturday.

so that would be 17 shanks on the weekend and 3/4 in one round earlier this year and next back was some chipping shanks when i was about 12.

if it only happens that often i should be good till i’m over 50 years old

could it be not clearing the right hip on the down swing

no problem pom !
its the worst round i have had since i was about 12? found it kinda funny .. hitting a 3 iron shank over three fairways onto the road missing all the traffic and landing in my mates front yard 60metres up a side street. two hole old prov1x.. pulled out a noodle and could not loose the thing. guess it serves me right for having a par round 3 weeks back .. ha ha ha .
this week i will get my revenge on the little white pill

Topic: Golf Talk / da da da da sh@^k attack

i had 17 sh@#ks. in my round on saturday -nearly walked off the course …. tried everything to stop it. even moving and extra 6 inches away form the ball at address.. i started cringing every time i addressed the ball

then i got out on sunday and did not hit one in 18 holes.so i tried to sh@#k it ..and NO i just hit it fat.
what can you make of that?? it seems very strange

could there be a 12 hour virus
good news…i think i found the antedote the cure is 10 schooners after the game

Topic: Golf Talk / Saturday Social Play in Sydney

yeah .. some totally and some with partial… they have to have caddies with no back problems as after they find the ball and tell the distance, then are bending over aligning the body and club head… they then rattle the flag on the green.. so it makes then a little slow. but they hit some great shots sometimes.. saw a guy on the 10th 115m knock it on to 4 foot, did not see him putt though.. ha ha

note you can play barney ’s 18 holes in less 2.5 hours with a beer stop at half way when its quiet

Not sure about Saturdays but I’ve gotten on at Georges River and Barnwell Park pretty easily after comps on Sundays.

on saturdays barnwell park at five dock is easy to get onto so is massey park down the road … at barnie just one thing to note is the blind golfers they hit off straight after the comp at 12pm sharp .. so you might want to give them a little space .. 20 mins or so as they naturally take it a little longer to get around the track

there is a couple of places in sydney they advertise in that pacific golfer paper you find at pro shops for free – Narellan Golf Factory and Golf Factory Penrith they sell srixon ZUR-s for $39 a dozen- (superseeded model though) they are similar in spin and distance performance and i think fly a little straighter than the prov1

they do mail order too

definately worth a try at that price.. i can’t tell the performance diff between the current model anjd these ones

Topic: Golf Talk / cheap weekend away -blue mountains

just thought i’d let you guys in on a cheap golf n’ beer weekend away.

our soccer team heads up to Rydal after each season – just outside of lithgow for some golf beers and trophy presentation.

we stay at the alexander hotel rydal – $55 per night for bed breakfast and dinner and play lithgow golf course $22.

the pub is an old historic Aussie pub with great service, food, and a few interesting local characters to talk to at the bar, the course is in good nick -green and fair – not too much trouble to get into and has some nice long holes and a couple of good par threes for closest to pin – the course is relaxed you can get a case of beer from behind the bar to enhance the walk, if you so choose

we have been going there for years and just had another great weekend and thought others may like to know about it as a budget busting option to go witha few mates

also some good trout fishing in the 3 dams in the area.
phone numbers and all can be found in the phone books

hey no3putt,
welcome !
yep thats me at barnwell park ( its on lions rd west at 5 dock)- $450 pa – no join fee at the moment and you get $50 of beer vouchers – if you wanna meet up for a hit and check the place out let me know

if you feel like joining i will propose you and get you seconded.. like everywhere they are keen for new members- its a short course but can be tricky, and the members are good people very welcoming, and relaxed.

there is also massey park down the road its a little longer, and good fun too.. had some real slow rounds there though ..and its twice as far from my house, so i just joined the closest club

cheers

Topic: Golf Talk / Sydney siders?

I can imagine, I had one after my round there on Sunday, was very tempting to have a few more. Also tempted to take my fishing rod next time to, perhaps go across the road and try my luck. haha

seen some big bream in there .. they like lures and eat flys too ( flyfishing type—not the winged ones)

JUST DON’T EAT THEM

yeah .. everyone is welcome..handicap or not

problem is its a fun place after the game and one beer can quickly turn into three or five…. then i have to leave the bar… and go practice in the bunkers until i sober up ha ha
