Topic: Golf Equipment / Ball flight Hi all, 12 months down the track….handicap has been down to 6 and upto 8 (for a week)....currently 6.5. About a month ago I bought a TM CGB Max Limited 10.5* with regular shafts. The Matrix Ozik Xcon 5 is fantastic….consistant 12/13 fairways, highish flight….the Fujikura Rombax is a smooth mid to low flyer same as Ozik 12/13 fairways and the Mitsubihsi Diamana White board is reasonably hard to hit straight, I have to change my grip to keep it straight and probably flies lower than I want here locally….but will come into it’s own on resort type courses with couch fairways. Overall length hasn’t changed that much, maybe a little longer with the Rombax. Plenty of grass growth on the course at the moment, so not a lot of run. I feel Rommie is going to be my gamer….I can feel the difference between the Aldila NV and all 3 with the CGB…they seem a little stiffer as if a firm flex…which probably suits my in between swing speed. I am only just starting to fine tune with weights and spine alignment. So far I am very happy with the purchase, well worth the money. And I’ve got choices. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / $9.92 golf balls Hi all, Hard to believe but I’ve just seen a listing at an auction house quoting $595 ORP for 5 boxes (60 balls) start bidding now at $9 ! To make it worse I’ve never heard of this brand balls…..never found one on a course either. Must be SECRET golfers business or something. Wish I had some spare cash to pick some up….might be better than the ProV1…...WOW and save money. I’m a little suspicious though…there is some doubt about their description. “PERFECT BALANCE IN BOTH SIN AND CONTROL” ......”SHORT IRON SPIN TO PROVIDE GOLFERS AT ALL LEVELS WITH GAME IMPROVING CHARACTERISTIS” and to top it off….”OPTIMISES AERODYNAMIC PRINCIPALS FOR EXPLOSIVE DISTANCE” I love a bit of SIN…..I’m all out of CHARACTERISTIS….and I’d love to get hold of a fast streamlined PRINCIPAL for helping the grand daughter with her homework ! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Funniest moments on GC Years ago, we turned up for our usual tee time even though the weather was dirty. Two of us pulled out and the other two said ‘we’re going to play it’s Saturday’, we watched as they teed off in worse than fastest speed w’screen wiper rain….first one pulled his shot from the 10th tee down the first fairway, the 2nd bloke hooked his past the 1st towards the 9th…..I said something smartass like ‘it’s a long way to 10 from out there’...they disappeared into the driving rain. Evidently the 2nd shot of the first player hit the 1st green….so the other bloke followed. They admitted when they got back in, that they continued down 2 and finished the round. As it sometimes goes the afternoon players got enough players on the course to make a comp. Blow me down on Sunday morning the first player won the singles ‘C’ grade comp.! (without teeing off on the 1st) |

Topic: The Lounge / Who backs the car into the garage? We live on the LOW side of the street….backing out onto the footpath/roadway is blind…..it is much easier to back in….drive out seeing everything in front is easier. Part of the post ‘trigger’ was the unreal level of blood/alchohol levels that deem you unworthy to drive. I am a firm believer that if alchohol effects your reaction times why not have a REACTION time test and get ALL the affected drivers off the road? Why pick on those who can afford to drink and have a car? |

Topic: The Lounge / Who backs the car into the garage? Not to hijack MrConsistencys thread….this question came from his post….doesn’t matter how much I have had to drink I am NOT allowed to drive home….p*ssed or 2 beers, how come I have to back the car into the garage? Who puts the car away at your place? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Decision Criteria for new driver Mates usually have a driver or two…..don’t be shy to ask if you can have a hit…..but prob. the best advice would be to have a lesson at your local course and the pro (or assistant) will give you an idea of your potential….leading to suggestions to ‘try’ certain clubs…...and if you are just starting out….learn as much as you can about the short game, ‘cos that’s where all the shots are ‘saved’. Good luck. The more you practice the luckier you will get! |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test Boz, I retired the 1st E2 after 3 rounds…..really, I could not stomach its looks any longer….had 34pts again…and again the ball flies and behaves fine. Took a new one out today (Sat) and only hit it 75 times!....28 putts incl….. a 3 putt!!! So I am back down to 7 and will keep an eye on the progress through the six balls. I was given some ProV1s for my birthday, so will hold off using them untill the 6 are worn out/lost? POSITIVES….. NEGATIVES….. Given I got 3 rounds from the 1st E2 ball and I normally get upto 5 rounds out of a ProV1 the economics are a factor….kind of….our Pro takes 2 ordinary ball comp. balls for 1 ProV1, so I ‘convert’ my balls to ProV1s. Sometimes whem I accumulate enough I get a box of ProV1s and sell them on eBay to cash them in.($60) That’s the money I would use to buy E2’s…..round about way I know….if our Pro stocked Vision that would be a different scenario. So for now, I am still happy to use the Expert 2. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test Had 34pts today with the E2….doesn’t seem to have marked up much more so will run it again on Wed. Put it through a few hard left turns…about 5Gs and a couple of fluffy fades that worked a treat! |

Topic: Golf Talk / Getting those sticks clean Once a year car polish…..backs of the heads, hosel and shafts…brings the driver up like a newey!!.....usually only do them after they have been rained on….you have to use a tooth brush to get the white out of the names/grooves etc., but the polish brings ‘em up nice….. I maintain the faces/strike zones as I go on the course. I use an old tooth brush drilled and tied to the bag with a shoe lace. Cheers. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test
Our greens are so soft at the mo it’s hard to tell the stop on the E2s…..5 irons are jumping 2-3m on the greens but any thing less is only just out of its pitch mark. 9 iron and wedges are only just backing up a little. Will use it again tomorrow and see what happens. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Spotting Fakes! A bloke I play with on Saturdays bought a set of r7 irons off a used car salesman…..he talked about them the week before and bought them in the next week….they were soo rough in the metal finish and the stickers on the back were lifting on the edges…he paid $500 for them…..I just shook my head and didn’t say a word, but he could tell by the look on my face. Funny thing is he gave them to his sister who runs a stall at the local Sunday markets…a bloke looked at them 1st week and brought a mate the next week and paid $550 for them….he has since told the mates’ sister that he has taken 2 shots off his handicap!!!! He loves them!!! Go figure!!! |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test Just picked up 6 X-pert 2s from Rebel Tuggerah….will give them a run tomorrow and let you know what I think. I test ran a Vision before Christmas and the thing I remember MOST about it was the straight roll on the greens….I’d forgotten I had trouble not hitting them past the pin or even over the green. I love the subtle blue fluro on the Expert 2… by the way where are these made? They’re almost as cool as the Vision! |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test I have some feedback for your Vision ball….one of the guys I play with has the dubious record of putting a ball out of bounds (onto the Pacific H’way) 5 (five) rounds in a row….that is Sat., Mon., Wed., Sat., Wed. !!!! That’s the record but every week one used to go out there….BUT he has cured this by using the Vision #8 ball…...he hates the site of it and only plays it on this hole but he can’t lose it on the 17th…...he has not hit one O of Bs for the last 5 weeks using the bright yellow beast. Just thought you might like some more feedback. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test I gave the Vision 9 holes on Wed…..did not hit a fairway off the driver…it came off the irons the best I have felt a ball and probably 5m further than my stock shots. Didn’t hit a bunker but was quite predictable and consistent around the greens and I really liked the way it putted. I still got my 18pts out of it, so I wasn’t disappointed in the ball. Although I couldn’t wait to get to the 10th and change back to the ProV….missed the 10th and 11th fairways but hit 12 14 16 and 18. Parred the last 6 holes to scramble in with another 18pts. So nothing lost and an experience gained. I am sure there is a market for these balls. No-one in our group had seen one before but an ex 2 marker commented on the way it blasted off the irons. So it wasn’t just me that it impressed. I’m also sure I could sell the ball I used as a new one….not a mark on it. I wish Boz all the best with his marketing and R&D, maybe if I can get a hold of some of the later balls I will give them a try too. Thanks for giving us the chance to TRY an Aussie ball. Cheers. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Nike One Black ID Hi all, Can someone help me identify the different models of Nike One Black? I have one that has the < ONE BLACK > on it and it has 3 dimple sizes that look similar to the ProV1 392 (only 2 sizes). Would the Nike be the 408 dimple ball? Or is that the Nike with the < ONEBLACK > ball? The coloured ‘One’ looks like a larger dimple in pics., which means less dimples. When did the changes take place? Does anybody hit these? |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Vision Golf Ball Test Hi all, I’ve got 4 of these Vision balls that I have won in ball comps….have never hit one so will have to give it a try….seems everyone is happy with them…..worse that can happen is go back to ProV1, although I’ve been very happy with them. Will give the Vision a fly on Wednesday. |
