Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Maintaining Posture
Sounds like a very similar situation…hosel rockets have been a regular part of practice sessions for a while (none on the course though, thuch wood). I tried the bum against the wall, but I found it just made me stall the hips and the pivot all together, no turn, no bump, no anything. That is a problem I have had too, sliding through the ball intead of turning. So I adapted it a little bit and it seems to have helped so far. I use a stand bag, so I set it up behind me with my driver at a point just behind my left arse cheek then as I swing I try to push my left hip back and make my arse touch my driver head cover on the way down. Have never actually touched it but the idea of it seems to have helped me. Hopefully that explained it ok, hard to put into words! Have began to hit a draw, can feel accumulator lag and PP#4 again properly and the ball flight has come down a bit, so all good. Only problem last round as far as ball striking was I missed a few greens long as I am hitting irons about a club further |

Topic: Golf Talk / Bent putter head I did the same thing with a Ping Anser copy…ended up with a stack of loft after I bent it in the hosel/gooseneck area. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Spin full shots, chips, pitches? A descending accelerating blow works best. On a full shot you will already be accelerating as much as you can so really only thing to do is ensure a solid descending blow. Chips and pitches the spinniest ones are where you hit down on it bit still nip it clean, it is as close to a gut as you can get without gutting it. What sort of ball do you use, what wedges do you use, are the greens softish. Equipment and course condition make a massive difference. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Slowing Down you can slow down too much though. Start decelerating and steering it rather than letting the club flow. I prefer to think of it as swinging in rhythm rather than just slowing down. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / feeling lag When I first started looking into TGM and read about pressure points I thought “what a load of hippy crap”, everything else in the book is so scientific in the way it is discussed then there are these touchy feely pressure points that seem a bit out there. Then, after a few swings thinking about it and working through it I realized how important they all are….#3 is the main dog though! I think it is one part of TGM that is massively misunderstood…the pressure points don’t apply pressure, they sense it. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Head movement during hip bump Have you taped your swing to see what happens. If you are looking up at the mirror to monitor head movement what you are seeing may not be what you do when you actually swing. Think about what you are trying to acheive with the hip bump, does a small movement of the head backwards fit those goals? |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Jason Moon, DTL Lag…I must say, the slow mo with the wiffle was impressive. Certainly something to aim for. Thanks for clearing that in my head. Also, nice swing you got! |

Even with a wiffle ball shouldn’t there be a divot, which could also be the cause of the stressed look? Not saying it is not an idea to aim for, just working through it in my mind. |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Jason Moon, DTL To me the 3rd pic looks like the shaft is unstressed, but in the 4th it is stressed for sure….result of the divot? Interesting shots though… definitely closest I have seen to stressed all the way through…any other pics showing similar? |

Topic: Ask Golf Guru - Golf Instruction / Maintaining Posture Anyone got any tricks, drills, etc. My hips always want to head towards the ball on the downswing and it throws the whole radius of the swing out of whack…end up flipping or shanking. |

Topic: Golf Equipment / Chganging Lie Angle Biting tongue here to avoid commenting on the HG long and upright fitting philosophy that seems so prevalent. Any fitter should be able to flatten the lies for you. Are they cast (think all HG’s are but not 100% on that)? If so may be a bit more difficult to bend. Don’t assume the pull is lie angle though….get on a lie board before doing anything to the clubs. |

Topic: Golf Talk / iseekgolf.com Video: Inside the Nike Tour Van
Pretty weak arguement to make when you are comparing yourself to a guy who makes clubs for players on tour as his full time job….just a guess but I think he may have made more than you. (I know you were aiming this comment at admin but the same applies to your comments about the initial video)
That was a simple analogy aimed at the general golfer to get the point across. A heavier head will make the shaft feel more flexible, which I think was his initial comment
Best take that up with the Guru then : “Now install the ferrule. To do this put the ferrule onto the end of the shaft (Fig. 3), narrow end first, with a small dab of epoxy to help it slide up the shaft. Once on a little way, place the club head over the ferrule and literally bang the shaft onto the floor (note: with the grip end of the shaft on the floor and the head end in your hand) so that the ferrule is forced to the exact depth of the hosel (Fig. 4).”
This guy has worked through the system to be building clubs for the best in the world, I am not saying everything he does is right, but I am pretty sure he has pride in his work. As stated above he does it that many times it is pretty second nature. At least he talked about getting weighting of the head right and how off the shelf might be out a swingweight or two (or MOI if you swing that way). Either way, thanks to ISG for the insight. |

Topic: Golf Talk / iseekgolf.com Video: Inside the Nike Tour Van What in particular did you see as rough Nigel? Found it interesting that he did not mention anything a frequency analyzer in the initial around the van, although he did talk about frequency checking shafts later. Would love to have all that gear in the shed! |
