Topic: Rules of Golf / Correcting Committee Error - Disqualificiation

Inspector:when you say that “player B doesn’t notify player A of his find but returns the ball to the committee”it implies that he had the opportunity to do so but chose not to.
If player A was the no-hoper that player B has suggested he is he’d have just ignored the ball on display and said nothing at all.Sounds like a bit of a chopper but fundamentally a decent bloke.

Topic: Rules of Golf / Correcting Committee Error - Disqualificiation

Player B sound like an absolute mongrel to me Inspector and how would you take 2 shots off player A when the bloke had wiped the hole in any case?
You should have disqualified player B for a serious breach of etiquette for failing to disclose the found ball to player A in a timely manner.

Topic: Sports Talk / Jamie Soward fan club

Used to think that Kiwi was too hard on Jamie Soward and that he just didn’t like him because he was overweight and looked stupid in a helmet .Soward that is,not Kiwi.
In any case, it comes out from the Saints vs Roosters game that Soward brushed the little kid whose hand he was supposed to be holding as they ran onto the field and went about his usual pre match workout. All the other blokes were happy enough to do the right thing, apparently. Then we hear that he recently sledged the Tiger’s Robbie Farah with some sort of tasteless jibe about his late mother, who died last year of pancreatic cancer.Seems Kiwi actually wasn’t being hard enough.

Topic: Rules of Golf / Sudden death playoff-part of stipulated round?

Just wondering if a sudden death playoff to determine the winner of a professional event is regarded as being part of the “stipulated round”?
I’d have thought that it wasn’t until I read this:
2-3. Winner Of Match
A match is won when one side leads by a number of holes greater than the number remaining to be played.
If there is a tie, the Committee may extend the stipulated round by as many holes as are required for a match to be won.
Now obviously this is match play but does the same principle apply in the tournament winner scenario?Bearing in mind that you often see players who think that they may have won out on the practice range or on the putting green just waiting to see what has happened, you think that the P.G.A. must have their own set of rules which covers players who are in this situation.
It only crossed my mind after Brett Rumford said that he’d called his coach just after finishing the 18 th hole on Sunday and asked how to “sort out ” his driving before the first playoff hole.Obviously this wouldn’t be allowed during a “stipulated round” so there must be something to allow it.
Does anyone know for certain ?

Topic: Golf Talk / "Free" golf carts-fair enough?

Sounds like BS to me.

Then what possible reason would the people selling all these carts have for lying ? The carts are “as is” and some are barely used .It won’t make any difference at all to their value just because someone came up with a story now, will it?
It’s not like “Jon Voight’s car ” or something similar.
Sounds totally consistent with the man’s previous behaviour and I don’t doubt it, at all.

Topic: Golf Talk / "Free" golf carts-fair enough?

Mate of mine bought a new (Club Car) golf cart recently at a substantial reduction.Seems that the local dealer had quite a few , new or barely used carts in stock with lots of extra items thrown in.Nice for him you say, but what are you on about?
Seems that (is is alleged) our “quirky” local billionaire ,who also owns a couple of courses on the Gold Coast, had asked the manufacturer for a free loan of a large number of new carts for his courses,so he “try them out”.Months went by with no answer until they were told to come and get their carts, because he’d decided to do business elsewhere.Story goes that he’d been stringing them along until the carts that he’d ordered from China actually arrived.End result was that they were stuck with a heap of barely used carts they couldn’t sell as new.
I’m probably very naive in the ways of business and maybe any astute billionaire would have done exactly the same thing. What do you blokes think about this?
Be interesting to see just how reliable these Chinese carts are over time.If a heap of punters get stuck out on the middle of his courses it could yet prove to have been a bad idea.

Then it could just be 2 Arab students from M.I.T. who for some perverted reason choose to further the hatred and mistrust that was just beginning to subside in the U.S.
Here you go:

Topic: Rules of Golf / IF WE sign wrong score now we claim "tiger rule"

Why would he do that, given he didn’t know there was an issue until 8.00 am the next day. Disqualification wasn’t discussed or even an issue with the Rules Committee as they originally didn’t have an issue with the drop. It was only because of a phone in and Tiger’s comments during the post round interview that the Rules Committe realised that there hed been an incorrect drop. Two shot penalty under the existing Rules of Golf is the ruling.
Whinge all you like it makes no difference to the ruling. The USGA and the R&A are satisfied that the correct ruling has been made – end of story.

Totally ignorant about almost everything except golf.

He wouldn’t do that because he is a sociopath with no interest in anything other than those things which can assist him.Tiger doesn’t give a damn about the integrity of the game and only believes that “rules are rules” when they penalise his opponents or provide him with some sort of advantage.

Topic: Rules of Golf / IF WE sign wrong score now we claim "tiger rule"

Following-up…

I do think that the Committee utlmately got to the right outcome.

Also, some of my initial emotion about the issue was because I thought that the Committee was misapplying Decision 33-7/4.5 when, in fact, it was merely that commentators (primarily those on ESPN) who were mistakenly discussing this Decision as if it had relevance.

A wrong ruling was made on Friday (and not conveyed to the player who could have provided additional info at the time). Tha ruling was corrected on Saturday to the same outcome (2ps) that would have resulted had the Committee informed the player on Friday that they were looking into the matter.

<iframe src="http://rulesgeek.com/ISEEK/sigiframe.php" height="100px" frameborder="0" width="400px" scrolling="no"></iframe>

So you actually believe that they discussed this with Woods before he signed his card? The whole thing reeks and diminishes all those involved.Mr “rules are rules” Woods has confirmed that he has no integrity whatsoever.

Topic: Golf Talk / Tigers drop on the 15th

He intentionally dropped 2 yards back because it suited the shot he wanted to play. He doesn’t have this option and should have played his shot “as nearly as possible ” to the spot from where the original shot was played.
His other option would have been to keep the point where the original ball last crossed the margin of the hazard between himself and the hole. He could have gone back as far as he liked on this line but it was well to the left of where he actually dropped his ball. It last crossed the margin when it bounced hard left off the flagstick and went back into the water.
Tiger should be disqualified but he probably won’t be because (as someone said ) he’s not a 14 year old Chinese boy.

Topic: Golf Talk / Tiger finally comes out ...

yep, im sure he’s been fined plenty…

i remember he got fined for throwing his driver at the australian masters, nearly hit a bloke standing behind the tee

“I work with retards, Those goofy bastards are about the best thing I’ve got going.” – Pat Healy – “There’s Something About Mary”

The club actually went forward and could conceivably hit any one of the hundreds of people crowded around the tee.Woods at his very worst.Didn’t give a damn about anyone other than himself. It’s a shame someone didn’t snap the shaft off before he got it back.
Mostly people who just wanted to say that they “saw Tiger” I suspect.
He is,however, undoubtedly the very best putter that I’ve ever seen.
The quote under your signature is an absolute disgrace btw,but I’m sure ,that as a Tiger fan, you probably think it’s hilarious.

Easy to run up a big score when you have no effective opposition.
I’ll be staggered if the Knights get within 10 points of them at full time.

With a 10-point start I’ll put a $100 on the Knights every day of the week simonsez – we on?

Oops

World’s Most Desperately Unlucky Golfer.
Inaugural ISG National Day 2012 Supreme Putting Champion.
Voted player most likely to win 2nd ISG National Day if no-one else does.

Obviously he wasn’t confident enough Barnesy. Knights were RUBBISH though and did not get any calls go their way either. Eagles looking good though minus a few of their better players too. Hate to say it but they are better than I thought they would be. Long way to go though and the Titans away will give them a test this week.

You make the mistake of believing that I actually read your post parbreaker. I don’t have money to waste on this sort of thing fwiw but really didn’t see the Knights doing quite this poorly.Makes the Broncos effort seem a little bit better in comparison, I’d have thought.
