9.9. Haven’t played for a while having lost interest again. Warmer weather will probably see me out again.

Thats a superb index when read in conjunction with the hitting distances you quoted below.

5i – 130/135m

90m usually a 7 iron but whatever I feel will do the job.

How do you manage to shoot so low?

Dunno really. Generally manage to keep the ball in play but that’s probably because I don’t hit it far enough to get off the fairways. Driver goes about 190 max and a small-headed driver or 1 iron gets me to most longer par 4’s.
The 7 iron has been my club of choice for approach shots from 120m in for over 40 years and it’s just automatic.
I only play for the exercise now but having a touch of the Bowditch’s doesn’t help the scoring. Can play to 3/4 if the mood’s right. The strange thing is that despite having the putting yips I used to get my share of long putts and birdies. Now they’ve gone away, getting a lengthy putt is a real rarity.

1-L is the mechanical model that TGM uses to show its simplicity in a diagram whilst its description is mind blowingly deep as the Pacific engineering wise.

I totally forgot about this thread, wonder if there have been any bolters out there. I know Shortstuff was going alright last time I checked. As for me, still 2steps forwards 1.9 steps backwards.. Today, it was birdies, pars and 9s!

Ha. Journeying back to B grade mate – blaming the new job! Hanging to 11.6 from 14.6 start.

Off to read the “Putting a score together ’” thread – I’ve forgotten.

If profanity influenced the flight of a ball, the game would be played a lot better

No good ST, luckily for you I am following a similar curve. I can tell I am so close, knocking down pins from 100m but still not making the scores I used to back off 27!

Keep it up, mate. Short game makes up for many sins. (WTF is 1-L?)

Mother Shank is visiting – course management can’t help! Took the Cure from the School and hope for some range time before Saturday’s Scramble

Good idea for a thread, like KGN I hadn’t seen it. Made me check my golflink : 2 years ago 8.1, 1 year ago 8.1, now 7.6. New clubs, bags, swing thoughts, putting lessons, grief all for 1/2 a tick.

Have had a brainstorm, maybe I’ll hit a practice ball this year.

Some great improvement by a few, so keep it up.

Saw the post about someone being asked to hold their handicap at 12. I certainly agree with the consensus, would rather play off 10 than win one of those B grade shields, like winning a Holden scramble, its a way to determine the biggest burglars. We all know the type, they are at every club, skanking round in Wednesday 4balls, but who the hell wants to be one of them.

Fine by me with the Jan score up if it can be verified in a count back:)

KGN…of course you are. You do realise that you will be claimed as an Aussie should you have the biggest cut, just like Russel Crowe, Phar Lap, Crowded House :)

Nice fairway shooting Bergsey. That putter will run hot one day and you will not know what hit your scorecard.

end 2006 23.9

end 2007 23.4

goal for end 2008 14

Hit a record number of fairways (70%) and greens (40%) for me on the weekend. Sadly the putter was off so ended up still shooting around my current hcp (21).

The strange thing is that for the first time in probably the last 6 months i had a couple of practice putts before the game (actually got to the course early enough). Putted them well on the practice green then went out and had the worst putting round in the last 6 months (36 putts). Most of those missed (usually just shaving the hole) were around the 6 foot mark where previously i was nailing them the majority of the time (had been averaging around 29-30 putts in the previous rounds).

Very strange

Just got my h’cap back after many years of not playing – uni and work got in the way. Now I am back in the sticks, golf is much more affordable.

Their shop is down so call them. I got 2 of their long sleeve shirts and they are great. Around $50 each.

Make sure you have your car windows tinted also. You can get a medical exemption from your doctor to tint your front windscreen as well so that you are fully protected. Tint blocks 99% of the UV rays that damage your skin.

You can get fishing gloves that cover the back of your hand but leave the palm of your hand uncovered if you wanted something like that.

Glennbo
i had a lesson from a pro (golf) who wore a glove on each hand.
It was an over cast day. The lesson went for 6 hours, never took them off. She used to be on tour. Now she coaches,
Used to work with a guy who drove all day, he wore a glove on his right hand as the sun was always on it.
Not dorky once you see what the sun does to you.
just means 4 gloves for wet days.

Have had a couple of weeks off and won the comp yesterday (Par) with a +4 in windy conditions. Handicap down 1.6 as a result so now sitting on 21.2

27 Putts helped as well !

Back out on the weekend after a week off. Played to the new handicap which was good – off the tips as well as penants were on in the afternoon.

30 putts today which i was still pretty happy with, drained a few monsters and the greens were very fast.

Wasted a lot of shots chipping as the distance control was pretty ordinary given the fast greens and tight pin positions.. if i got up and down everytime would have shot mid 70’s!
