Avram Grant sacked by Chel$ki.

Who’d be a chelsea manager eh?

Rumour has it Avram Grant left with a £5.2m pay out. With that sort of dough flying around for 7 months work many probably would put their hand up for the job.

The bookies have Frank Rijkaard as the early favourite with “Aussie” Gus Hiddink, Roberto Mancini and Sven-Goran Eriksson also in the frame.

yeah seen the “Danger, JT at work” one lol!

A few average jokes:

Rio Ferdinand says winning the ECL is like a chocolate orange – “Its not Terry’s it’s mine”

Good news, Josef Fritzel is to get the death penalty. Bad news, John Terry is to take it.

Heard about the new beer by John Terry? Made in England but bottled in Moscow.

I gad too many bourbons watching State of Origin and celebrating the NSW Blues win, forgot all about UCL final until I woke up in a daze yesterday morning just in time to catch the end of extra time and the penalty shoot out. Enjoy these pics.

Yep great game full of suspense, and glad for Giggsy and the memory of those in the Munich air disaster that United got up. Chelsea a tad unlucky I thought, but great to see Ballack, Drogba, Terry and Ashley Cole end up Losers….

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

Saw the first half, fell asleep again during the second half, woke up just to see Ronaldo miss a penalty.

Snap.

As John Terry was lining up the winner I said to my boys “Hope he puts this over the bar…” Well, almost… Then to have Giggs slot one in the game where he broke Bobby’s record for ManU appearances… when VDS parried Anelka’s shot there was lots of cheering and hugging and dancing in the Muntz lounge room.

Wooooo hoooo !!

(Commiserations Chelsea, you pushed ManU to the last day in the League and 7 penalties in the CL.)

Well we did it.
Hard luck Chelsea you played so well. Penalties are a prick of a way to lose.
At the end of the year only two points and one penalty separated United and Chelsea. What a year.

By now it should be ABC (anyone but Chelsea). Much easier to say.
Two sleeps to go, I am soooo exited. Already started betting pints in the pub.
If anyone wants to bet a virtual pint with me on the result.Or a real pint if they live near to the postcode WA 6025. I say , whoops no I have taken a vow of nil predition. But I am sure you all know my tip.

For no apparent reason my oldest son announced that he is now a Portsmouth fan (well before the FA Cup). Just got bored with supporting a top 4 side I think.

Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. – BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF

There are rumours that Pompey are planning to buy Peter Crouch (Crouchigol) from Liverpool. Personally I’d prefer Crouch to stay and build a strike partnership with El Nino.

i think in a comp where there are 20 teams you are more than allowed to have 2 that you follow. Plus its un-australian to follow the winners all the time ( i don’t think “overdog” is an allowable word???). got to have a team with a mountain or 2 to climb.

Ever so slightly off topic.
Well done Portsmouth.
The first team other than the top 4 to win the FA cup since 1995, Everton.
I occasionally play golf with a Pompey suporter, on a saturday morning. Great stuff Peter.

Check out the second last letter in The Fiver

“Re: EBJT’s elbow-knack precluding from carrying out his refereeing duties in next week’s Big Cup final. At least Manchester United’s strikers are collectively breathing a sigh of relief knowing that only one, rather than both of his forearms will be crashing into the back of their heads when challenging for balls in the air” – Wayne Gibbons.

Glossary:

EBJT: England’s Brave John Terry (tongue in cheek)
Big Cup: Uefa Champions League

Not bad from a lad in Darwin to get his letter printed in a UK daily football email.

good one Gibbo

Well back from hols ready to join in the dissussion.
United did it , down to the last game great for football.
The ref at Wigan was not the best for sure, but he also was not biased, I think, just poor.
The game at Moscow will be the most important English football game for a long time, if not ever.
I could not even try to predict. My only hope is SAF will let United attack rather than contain Chelsea, hoping for the break, and then defend one goal
A quick poll of eventuall winners maybe.
As for my vote I have already said I must stop predicting;-)

Take off the red sunglasses munter ; ) Ronaldo doesn’t ref the game, much as he thinks he does.

The ‘obvious’ penalty he turned down was clearly a reaction to the one he should never have given in the first place. It was also on the player he should have sent off. What about the obvious penalty Wigan should have got when Ferdinand handled in the first 20 minutes?

Don’t get me wrong, Manu deserve the title over the season, but the ref today was a joke.

As for Terry, wishful thinking chum, its already been reported that he’s fine and will be in Moscow.

Much as I don’t want Chelsea to win a European Champions League title, I’ve a feeling they will turn you over.
