On Saturday, Sergio Garcia was DQ’d from the Saudi International for a bizarre incident in which he intentionally damaged as many as five greens at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club out of frustration. Sergio left a mark in at least one green with his putter and dragged the sole of his shoe across several others, leaving so much damage that several players behind him complained, and leading to his disqualification for “serious misconduct.”

As it turns out, it wasn’t the only time during the week that Garcia lost his cool. A day earlier, the 39-year-old Spaniard had a moment of rage captured by SkySports cameras in the bunker at the par-5 fourth hole. Coming off back-to-back birdies, Garcia found the front greenside bunker in two but drew a poor lie and failed to get his first attempt out, according to SkySports. Anyone know Spanish to translate what he was saying;)

PS its reported Sergio may have been paid an appearance fee to play in this event, and this is what he gives back??

Most unfortunate. I wonder whether there was a discussion within his playing group after the first couple of incidents. I wonder whether there was a rules official following the group.

How you react to good fortune and adversity is one of the greatest features of golf. It can build, reveal and even destroy character. Even Bobby Jones was reported as saying that there are some emotions which cannot be expressed with the golf club still in your hands.

Other reports say he left scruff marks on five greens. Big difference between scruff marks and damaging the greens. Apparently some players behind him had issues with the marks and complained. He obviously did the wrong thing but not to the extent in some media reports.

He was dq because of it, but 5 holes and did any other players say anything from his group like Forrest comments?

So 5 holes would be like 1.25hrs at least that he was carrying around some heavy emotion

His regular caddie Glen Murry is from Melbourne. He may not have been on the bag. Glen has taught Sergio all our slang and probably a few of our bad habits. It is quite funny hearing Sergio go Australian.

Well at least his win at The Masters wasn’t for 2nd place.

Named Nats winner despite having the 2nd best score in the field

or

That guy who stormed off the course in an OOM event after 9 holes like a little beeotch

Which would you rather be known for?

How does a thread about Sergio Garcia misbehaving turn into a VIC ISG walk down memory lane festival?
